Could it be that someone who is AC/DC is not in Europe is Al Gore? After all, he IS the public face of Current TV and he is from Tennessee. Maybe he'll have some sort of environmental forum at the festival?
While talking about the other clue, DJJD said that he gave the first clue to Jess. He was wearing a nametag that said "Steve" when he met him -- Steven Tyler? (When you google AC/DC, Aerosmith also comes up as a related search.
While i agree that using someone's sexuality as a descriptor is inappropriate, it is fair game if the artist has made their image about it. I agree that Bowie and Ani seem to fit the bill most accurately. Katie Perry makes sense but I think that her 15 minutes may have already passed (unless she was booked last summer, which they do for a lot of artists). I'll also toss an androgynous performer in there as well -- Marilyn Manson.

I definitely agree with you about the sexuality thing. It might not be the most appropriate thing, but there are a number of artists who use their sexuality as a part of their music. For example, artists like Mickey Avalon (if you don't know, don't ask) use their bisexuality in their lyrics and as an integral part of themselves and their image. The same with Ani DiFranco and David Bowie. It's not offensive because one's sexuality, if they own it as such, is an integral part of the person, and of the music. Now, if it were a clue that could have been about being gay, and we all said "Oh totally Michael Jackson lolz he's so gay" then THAT would be inappropriate. But as it stands, I think it's perfectly fine and actually quite reasonable to speculate that sexuality is where this clue is headed. I know 'bout this stuff, guys. ;D
Ya'll are off base on the sexuality thing, as I said before, I really don't think they would use an artist's sexuality as a clue to the fact they were playing the festival. Last year there were clues that refrenced lyrics of popular Bonnaroo performers. The White Stripes played in 2007 and although they didn't play the song, the lyrics to "Astro" include the line "Maybe Edison is AC/DC." I think the fills in the blank perfectly; and I'd bet my bottom dollar DjjD is a Stripes fan.
Edison is not exactly a big name. In fact, I'm sure most of us have never heard of them (I haven't). But they would not throw us a clue this early that lead to any name high up on the bill.
BD your logic is impeccable except for the fact that this band is in no way ready to play anywhere right now. They don't even have a drummer, and have not released an album. They did play the Testicle Festival though, so that's something.
I didn't believe you last year when you confirmed Metallica, so I can't completely discount this. I did send the band an email explaining all of this to the band. I'm sure they'll get a kick out of it. I'll let you know if they reply.
well im not sure if anybody in The Black Kids is bi or not, the lyrics from their biggest song "Im Not Gonna Teach Your Boyfriend How To Dance" lyrics do infer a bisexual relationship.
Lyrics are: Word's on the streets and it's on the news: I'm not gonna teach him how to dance with you He's got two left feet and he bites my moves I'm not gonna teach him how to dance, dance, dance, dance! The second I do, I know we're gonna be through I'm not gonna teach him how to dance with you He don't suspect a thing, I wish he'd get a clue I'm not gonna teach him how to dance, dance, dance, dance!
You are the girl that I've been dreaming of Ever since I was a little girl You are the girl that I've been dreaming of Ever since, ever since
One! I'm biting my tongue Two! He's kissing on you Three! Oh, why can't you see? One! Two! Three! Four!
now this is a band im pretty confident is gonna be at Bonnaroo last year. They were originally on the lineup for last year and had to back out because they ended up doing a full european tour.
they have gotten a little bigger since last year so i fully expect that they will make up for last year and make the appearance this year.
they played coachella and glastonbury last among a few other fest and are playing langeradoo this year, so they have played some of the biggest fests.
they are in europe untill the end of march, but they have announced a north american tour for 2009.
once again i dont know if the bisexual reference applies to any memeber of the band, but it does apply to their first single.
so i am putting my official guess in for The Black Kids.

could be, and it wouldnt be a big give away if the clue is correct
Mr. Palmer is concerned with the thousand dollar question Just like Roger he's a crazy little kid I've got the time if you've got the inclination So cheer up Palmer, you'll soon be dead
The noose is hanging, at least you won't die wondering Sit up and take notice Tell it like it is If I were near you I wouldn't be far from you I've got a feeling you know what you did
chorus:
AC/DC Bag AC/DC Bag AC/DC Bag DC Bag (2x)
Time to put your money where your mouth is Put 'em in a field and let 'em fight it out I'm running so fast my feet don't touch the ground I'm a stranger here I'm going down
Let's get down to the nitty gritty Let's get this show on the road I'll show you mine if you show me yours I'm breathing hard - open the door
[chorus]
Brain dead, and made of money No future at all Pull down the blinds and run for cover No future at all
Who would've thought it, that's where I am No future at all Don't sweat it, that's where I am Whoa, carry me down, down, down, down

Honestly, I'm pretty confident about Edison being the right direction. It's not that I think the sexuality thing is necessarily inappropriate, I just don't think it's the kind of thing they make a clue about.
another thing with the black kids that ties in to the clue.
if the not in europe part actually has something to do with the clue then it could have to do with the fact that they had to miss bonnaroo last year due to being in europe?
im just throwing things out there, i was listening to music and that song popped up on my computer and it struct me as a band that could not only fit the clue, but also be a real possibilty to play bonnaroo this year.

You may be on to something. I don't know much about either of these groups. I'm assuming that they would be cafe acts?
11/2/19: Tool 5/17/19: Blues Traveler 5/9/19: Tool 11/10/18: Tenacious D 9/20/18: White Denim 7/23/18: Radiohead 6/4/18: Jack White 5/20/18: Tool 5/18/18: A Perfect Circle 5/18/18: Alice in Chains 5/6/18: Blind Melon
more likely than my guess..... i actually think you might be correct..... new album, already rumored..... i like it.
This definitely sounds like a band that could be on a 'Roo lineup..just curious what theory led you to them?
i think tvotr will definitely be there this year, rolling stone named dear science the #1 album of 2008, as did some other lists, although this album barely made it onto paste's at #50 (i think, don't quote me on that)
i like the tv on the radio thing going with the ac/dc clue, although i believe it leads to phish, but i could see how you got tvotr out of it

If a clue last year was "Clouds taste like this" and the answer was Metallica, referencing some Lips lyrics then I don't see how the answer could be referencing anything but a band with Edison in their name this time around.
Now, as to which Edison is the real question... Personally, I've never heard of any of 'em so I guess it really doesn't make much difference to me ;D
I am giving the Detective a +1 though for what I think is solving the clue

Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but why would tvotr be the answer to this clue? I definitely agree that they'll probably be on the farm, I just don't see the connection to the clue. Is there something more than just....electrical things? Because if that's all, I think that's FAR too vague and it doesn't fit with the types of clues we had last year.
And now I'm repeating myself as well as other people, but I really do think the Detective had the right idea. And if past years of trying to figure out lineups have taught me anything, it's that we should listen to the Detective! But seriously, the Edison connection fits perfectly with the trends of past clues.

Didnt feel like reading the whole thread, so i may be repeating. However, if we are discussing the homosexuality of the term AC/DC and not the band we could be talking about someone like Rufus Wainwright (I apologize if has been brought up already). Great artist would love to see him on the farm, but i think it would be a longshot.
My first instinct was the electricity theory, which made me think Electric Six and Electric Eel Shock. A friend mentioned the whole bisexual thing, and that makes sense. I can't think of a particular artist, though, that hasn't been mentioned in that category.

for the past couple years, i've been waiting for rufus to play the farm. i think it will happen eventually, i'm hoping its this year. i don't think its a longshot because both his dad and sister have played bonnaroo in the past.
