I need to expand on the Screaming Trees reference...
Barking up the right tree....I went a little further.
Josh Homme played guitar with them from 96-98
Josh Homme was born in "Joshua Tree" California
Queens of the Stone Age's album Songs For The Deaf is a concept album, which is tied together by faux radio stations that play sh*tty music. Songs from the album- "Hangin Tree" "God Is In The Radio"
There you have it...it's either Queens, or one of the other projects he's been involved with...Eagles of Death Metal, or the ALMIGHTY KYUSS!!!!
Either way, I've been waiting for Josh Homme in some form at Bonnaroo for a long time!!!

How about The Roots. They have a song "Common Dust" Here are some lyrics from the song: Soon your zigs roam when you brooms the scene Dust you gots not, cause your rooms is clean
Robert Johnson dusted his broom. He won't be at Bonnaroo due to being dead since before any of us were born. Elmore James, ZZTopp, and Fleetwood Mac also did that song.
I don't think this is a clue to a performer. I think he is telling us he's gonna dust off his radio and start giving us more clues.
Ben Harper also did this song on his Pleasure and Pain album. He would be a much more likely choice...
Stephen William Bragg (born 20 December 1957 in Barking, Essex, England), better known as Billy Bragg, is an English musician who blends elements of folk music, punk rock and protest songs. His lyrics mostly deal with political or romantic themes. His music career has lasted more than 30 years, and he has collaborated with Johnny Marr, Leon Rosselson, members of R.E.M., Michelle Shocked, Less Than Jake, Kitty Daisy & Lewis, Kirsty MacColl, and Wilco. He performed with Kate Nash at the 2008 NME awards. Bragg often plays and speaks at the Tolpuddle Martyrs festival. Bragg Close, in Dagenham, Greater London, is named in his honour.[1][2][3][4] He now lives in Dorset.[5]
I think Billy Bragg has a better shot than The Edge. Thanks for giving me hope Claw.

I think maybe the clue posted in this thread that refers to barking up the wrong tree is intended to add to the other clues, and help us "tree" them, as refered to in the last clue. I think the clue that says "barking up the right tree" is a new clue entirely - some guessed corectly and can move on. The word "radio" in that clue is rust colored, but that is so obvious it seems like it can't be Neil Young. But I hope it is.
Putting the barking up the wrong tree clue with the past clues adds up to...I do not know. But Phish seems likely enough, since they can fit both the AC/DC clue and the "dust off my dadio" part of this clue.

Okay, I'm up to speed! Now, my thoughts...
The two separate posts about barking and trees and radiodadiorustdust etc......I think the real key there is the right vs wrong. We got a post that said we were barking up the wrong tree, while the speculations thread got a post that they were barking up the right tree. Something got mentioned there that hasn't been mentioned in here.
Also, the mention of radio....I really think djjd is just telling us to get ready for the real clues. Especially with his reference to "good" clues. It's time for ALL of us to dust off our radios and get ready for the radio clues!
However, the r/d switch is absolutely deliberate and probably meaningful. I just don't know if it's actually the dust/rust/radio/dadio stuff. I like whoever mentioned rjd2. Or the right/wrong thing could also connect to this - as in, the two clues were different and one was right and one was wrong.
I also think we need to keep thinking about the color changes - with djjd, we have to assume everything is meaningful! When I took color theory one of my projects was a cultural thing that related to England, so I was making sure to keep the green/oranges connotations in mind. Orange represents the Irish Protestants, green is the Irish Catholics. The conflict makes them both iffy colors to use even in parts of England - it's best to stay away from them in designs in case someone's going to take offense. I don't know how that relates at all, it's just my first thought about orange and green and I thought I'd share...haha.
I also think we need to figure out the bit about telling us which clues to "tree" first or whatever it was. I like cupcake's idea about branching out and the clues being related (that was cupcake, right?). That sounds like a likely meaning of "tree" to me, but even if it isn't that, it does seem like djjd is trying to tell us how to work through the clues, so we oughta listen!
And...what else? Hmm, I think that's all I had to say. I have a feeling this is already a huge post...I'm going to get to work on updating the website right now!

It was rust of my dadio. Of may or may not be a typo. I think the operative words there were rust "haven't played in awhile) and "dadio" ( a type of fish)

yup, that was me. "where to 'tree'" just screams "branch off" to me

Valid point, but at this point it seems everyone already knows Phish is playing.

I think with Animal Collective (and maybe Phish too) we got it.
I agree. I think the very first clue (catch it) was Phish. The AC/DC clue, the wrong bark/woof clue and the last "a clue to help you 'tree' " clue are for Animal Collective. The Right bark/rust colored word "radio" clue is for Neil Young. I hope.
These are all good guesses, but none of them are really conclusive. We don't know for sure if any of them are right...and probably won't until Feb. 3rd.
random thought but pepper didn't you say on your website that you thought djjd may have got in a little trouble since the headliners were guessed last year on the boards from his clues so maybe he would be hinting about bands other than headliners....
i was kinda thinking the same thing...maybe smaller bands so it makes me think not NY or snoop

Okay, site is updated! Hopefully I got all the major guesses and credited everything correctly.
And yeah, djjd did mention at some point that the powers that be weren't too happy when we cracked the headliners so early. So I think it's important to keep in mind that these clues are most likely pointing to a smaller act, or they're harder clues. If it seems like an easy clue pointing to a big act, we're probably doing it wrong. Which actually makes me think Neil Young is not the right way to go here.
