You're probably right about the Neil Young thing - the clue seemed way too easy. My only hope is that sometimes the person making up a riddle miscalculates how easy it will seem to others and thinks it is harder than it turns out to be. Hopefully that's the case with the possible Neil Young clue. But probably not.
Who is AC/DC is not in Europe: AC=Animal Collective DC=District of Columbia, where they are partially based out of.
Barking up the right tree: We've mentioned Animal Collective many times, in fact just two posts up from djjd's post today.
They run a record label called Paw Tracks, which could tie it to 'barking' and 'woof woof'.
For the last time, Animal Collective has no connection to Washington, DC. They grew up in Baltimore and are now located in NYC. Just because DC near Balt does not mean they are from DC.
Secondly, I don't think DJJD is going to put the effort of multiple clues to a single artist... maybe a headliner, but no one on AC's level.

He gave multiple clues to single acts last year. Can't remember which ones, though. But it seemed to have more to do with clues that were giving us alot of trouble rather than being related to size of the act, if I recall correctly. Which I may not.

Wikipedia lists DC as one of three places Animal Collective is based out of, that's probably why it keeps coming up. I don't know where Wiki got it, it could be that there is no connection whatsoever. But it could also be that djjd looked at Wikipedia while he was coming up with these clues too....
Edit: We had multiple clues last year for Claypool, but then that was our "big announcement" so it would make more sense to have multiples there. We also had multiple clues telling us that Oasis wasn't playing, but that's just because we are stupid and couldn't take a hint and kept going "HEY MAYBE IT IS OASIS" and we were probably driving djjd crazy! ;D
Edit again: Looks like Paw Tracks is based in DC. I don't know if I buy the Animal Collective stuff, but for those of you in that camp, that could be the missing link.

The slash in AC/DC could also signify breaking up the clue, so that it is actually two parts, only the first part of which is meaningful. DJJD likes to do that kind of manuever.:
Part one: Someone who is AC = Animal Collective
Part two: DC is not in Europe = just a simple geography lesson/red herring from our friend/torturer, DJJD.

Plaasticpepper, your clue site is fantastic. Karma for making the effort and somehow managing to distill 30 rambling pages into one cohesive and clear one.
You guys are a hoot, that's what you are. And I love it. I'm going to have a drink, or two, and read all your guesses. I can't contribute, because according to my customers, I'm an idiot.
yes, its the same person or persons from last year you can see by the member info. It could be a different dj but it it is from the same log in info. Has he given any clues on the radio yet?

Thanks guys!!
Another thought, not sure if it's been mentioned: the "woof woof" part of the matching clues was only in one. We got a woof woof here, the speculations thread did not get a woof woof. (Oh god that sentence was like two steps away from being a verse of Old MacDonald...) Can anyone think of any significance? The word barking was also in caps in each post. I have a feeling we're still missing something here, and I mean something more involved than the various dog/Snoop Dogg/Animal Collective references.

Merriweather is closer to Baltimore. It's in Columbia, which is a Baltimore suburb. This is a stupid argument, though. I'll agree that there may be a few minor connections to DC, but certainly nothing to result in a clue about Animal Collective and the District of Columbia; the fact remains that they have much stronger ties to Baltimore and NYC than anywhere else. It's all just way to much of a stretch to begin with.
I personally think that the best guess is Phish, because of the Gamehendge character AC/DC Bag who lives, not in Europe, but in Gamehendge. It's still a stretch, but methinks not so much of one.

One thing to keep in mind, though, is that DJJD is not a professional riddle writer. Stretches often gave us the right answer last year. And if many people see DC and think Animal Collective, it is reasonable that DJJD may also think of Animal Collective as a DC band. It doesn't really matter if they actually are or not, it only matters if the idea that they are is widespread. And it does seem to be.
Which is not to say it couldn't still be a Phish clue. But I think Animal Collective is just as valid a guess.
the whole barking clew for some reason made me think of Temple of the Dog....that would be cool...it also made me think of Three Dog Night....little less cool..IMO

There is a record label called Barking Green. This label only has a few artists, one of which is a band called Big Trout Radio. This band plays only songs about fishing. Now, I do not for one minute believe this means Big Trout Radio is the answer to these clues. But it would be damn funny if it was.
just thinking out loud here and maybe its wishful thinking but if the AC/DC clue WAS supposed to carry the "bi" reference... what about david lee roth? van halen is still around and that would be awesome! ...JUST NO "JUMP"!!!
AC/DC Right, Wrong Radio, Dadio Rust, Dust (okay those are sort of opposites) and then the color thing, with green and orange representing the Irish Catholics and Protestants...

She and Him maybe? They're opposites.
Good call, I have definitely have been thinking She and Him since the AC/DC clue
and with the rust/dust/radio/dadio I have to admit the Rust Radio Neil Young connection is strong, but I really think it is TOO strong....I think that is too obvious...
And I completely agree with Cupcake about the "branching off" that was the very first thing I thought of when I saw the tree reference.....So I definitely think we should look outside the box. Last year he had what seemed some pretty outlandish answers so I don't think we can go too far, anything could be valid.
This word also has a underground meaning once you break it down. Let’s take “Bonn” for example and it actually turns into the word “Bone”. We all know gays use this word to describe the action of when they are fecal fisting their Cuban cabana boy at their sex bath house parties. Now let’s look at Roo, “Roo” is short for “Kangaroo”.So put the full true message together and you get“Bone a Kangaroo
So I definitely think we should look outside the box. Last year he had what seemed some pretty outlandish answers so I don't think we can go too far, anything could be valid.
I'm with you there. I keep thinking of the one that was "the chairman of the board after the birthday party" and the answer was Ben Folds because after a party you FOLD the CHAIRS. To be honest...if we had thought of that while we were working on the clue, we would have just laughed it off. So I'm trying to remember not to discount anything no matter how outlandish it seems!

Haha! That's the exact one I was thinking of, I just remember hearing the answer to that one and going "huh?" I most definitely thought it was Nick Cave, awww...that would have been awesome.
As for the "woof woof", I agree with...um, I don't remember who said it, but I agree with them that it is saying we were going the wrong direction. DJJD is specifically pointing out that we were barking up the wrong tree...woof woof....meaning "you there, with your barking, that's not quite it"
Although.....bah!!!! these clues drive me crazy!!! hahaha
