Alright.. so I was thinking I would at least see how much response I got to this but...
Last year was my first year to take my VW van a la Roo, and it was awesome, just having everyone on I-40 from 300 miles out know where your going to finding an identical one parked half a campsite over...the point being..........
I was seeing if anyone else plans to bring there van or asorted Vw associates and if so in some way try to meet up and pow wow just to have some fun or possibly creating a line of VDubs to file in the Roo together all simultaneously... (my dream)
DISCUSS!
Edit: I may have put this in the wrong.. uhh pile of stuff...if someone could tell me how to move this thread to This Tent then that would be great

Yeah man...I've got a '76 lime-ish green Vanagon, and its just cool as hell to run into others especially at the Rooooooo
Last Year, as I had just gone through where they search your car and filing out in line from that I had a English guy on the road get my attention and tell me all about his '67 and walk with my car for about 5 minutes as we creeped in line....cool dude
But be sure you have the funds for the upkeek too, cause you always have to tweak something or something just broke...but totally worth it

VW's were my first bonnaroo experience that stuck, personally. I saw about 25 on the highway all in line in the slow lane as I sped by. Actually the one that I won't forget was the VW who had their highway map out... they couldn't wait to get to 'roo they were checking the map for distant!!!

YES YES...This is what I want to do, even file in Bonnaroo 20 or 30 deep and have a whole VW campground
Now tell me that wouldn't be the headiest shizz ever
^^ Why gracias my brother.....but will someone please post on here that actually has a VW...por favor, it would be cool as hell to have a VW camp, and I shall try again later witth it too ;D
OK, I had a 1973 VW Bus in my last year of high school (1988). I am so sad that I do not own that vehicle anymore...the only problem was lack of heat, especially here in the northeast, you needed a ice scraper for the inside of the windshield.
Oh, prior to 1980 they are called a Bus or Type II, 1980 to current they were called a Vanagon
Dear god......PLEASE someone with a VW reply on here....It makes me kinda sad..
OK, so I've finally stopped lurking and set up a profile. I've got one of these mystery machines. Orange 1975 with westfalia pop up tent. Bought a couple months before Bonnaroo '06. Flew to pick it up, drove it 8 hours home with no problems. Took it right to a mechanic and told him to look it over in prep for a 12-hour drive to Bonnaroo. Promised he'd get it back to me before the fest. The day before we were to leave I got to the shop and they had my engine hanging on a stand in the shop. You can't believe how pissed my friends were to find out they'd be going to Bonnaroo in a Chevy minivan. I was pissed, too, but more so when we found ourselves in line at the gate in front of a caravan of 5 or 6 of them.
Blew the engine in October. So the bus is currently used to decorate my driveway (rather, the street in front of my house). No one will buy a bus they have to tow away. I don't have 3500 to buy an engine and have someone put it in.
I can't imagine sitting in traffic in a VW Bus waiting to get into the fest. Especially after a long drive. These busses are air-cooled, so if you're not moving, engine temps just go through the roof.
Word of advice: if the eBay ad says "NEW ENGINE. MECHANICALLY PERFECT" and you won the bus for only 3 grand, you probably just got SCREWED!
Look forward to chatting with you all. Great board you got here.

Don't be sad, peacelovevw. Hubby and I drove the '97 Eurovan camper to Roo in '08. It won out over the '84 Vanagon because I require A/C for the drive from Texas to Tennessee. Bringing the EVC again this year. Maybe we'll see you there.
Watchin' a stretch of road, miles of light explode. Driftin' off a thing I'd never done before. Watchin' a crowd roll in. Out go the lights it begins. A feelin' in my bones I've never felt before...
vw to Roo=how to get profiled by some good ole boys
You would think so for sure.....but not even an awkward glance from a cop....All the cops even waved to me and a few threw peace signs on my way out.....it just matters what type of cops are on the road and where you are at....like here in Memphis I have had these said problems...but I geuss they are almost expecting it in Manchester....idk but I love that town

Yeah, I didn't have a single problem on my way down last year. People (cops included) just smiled and waved.
It helps that I don't have any stickers on my bus and I don't fit the "hippie" stereotype.
Incognito baby! (As much as you can be in a veedub.)

Haha....if you want to almost never get pulled over, get one of those anti pot stickers with the leaf and the red cross thru it, like the cops do, and shove it on one of your windows....
Thats the only thing on my left side of the car so if a see a cop I just get to the far right lane.....cause the other side is Dead bears, Dead bears in a Vdub, sublime, Pink Floyd, and a mushroom.....
But yes....just leave one side alone and your fine, ohh and make sure your tags are valid, cause thats the only way I really got quacked
Edit: Thank you mod, I just forgot to edit...I'll watch my pottymouth
