I'm new to 'Roo and I need to buy a tent. Any ideas on where to look for deals? I'm hoping to get something nice enough for two people to be comfortable. REI seems to have great quality but its a little pricy

In my opinion for music fests you don't even need a fancy tent, it really just helps to have something like a canopy for shade....I have a small two person tent that only cost like 30 something dollars and thats what I've used at every music fest I go to...if you actually go camping with it you may want a better tent, but really at music fests you just need something that will provide a piece of cloth over your head in case it rains....something with good ventilation is good, because its gonna be hottttt.

I kept seeing tents on amazon for 40-50$ and thinking they couldn't possibly work well. Looks like I was wrong.

Yep, you don't gotta break the bank or anything..Ozark Trail is where its at!

Ditto the other poster. I have been using a 4 person coleman tent every year and it works great. I got it from Target for like $50. It's just a square dome tent so it only uses two poles. Quick and easy to set up and take down. I like to keep it under the ez up and leave the rainfly off. That way I'm protected from rain and it doesn't turn into an oven quite as easily. Of course everyone can see you sleep that way, if that matters to you. Mine is similar to this, and it's on sale! - www.target.com/p/coleman-flatwoods-4-person-tent/-/A-14347997#prodSlot=medium_1_1

How many times have you used your ozark trail tent? We are looking for another tent since more people are coming this year, but don't want to spend a ton of money. I posted a while back and a lot of people said ozark trail is complete crap.

Eh I honestly haven't used it much...like probably 10 times total...its been holding up well though so far, its even made it through some rainstorms.
Jet Boils! I'm looking for one or something like it for cheap...i have a propane stove, but using it last year I was afraid I was going to burn down the whole place on accident since it wasn't that quality.
I think Jetboil Flash is their cheapest line. It doesn't have a built in lighter but that's not a problem at the farm.

I bought this tent for 300 on a sale at rei. I know its not a 60 dollar tent, but this tents holds up like a champ. I have used this tent at 2 roo's and a couple of smaller festivals. This tent can handle wind an rain with no problem, and with proper guy line knowlegde and how to work the vents, there is plenty of air movement in this tent, I recommend this tent to any music festival goer.

I used my 6 person $75 walmart tent (ozark trail) for every fest I went to from 2008 to last years roo. I only had to pitch it bc the zipper crapped out and was beyond repair. That zipper took a lot of abuse from years of fucked up people too.

This is one of the tents I was looking into actually. I hike some so I was hoping I could find something that would transition into camping outside of Roo occasionally. Thanks!

I can also vouch for the REI Basecamp tents. I have the Basecamp 6 and love it. Yes, it's definitely overkill if you're only going to go to 'roo, but if you're looking to use it for actual camping, it's more then worth it.
With tents, you absolutely get what you pay for. Quality tents can stand up to strong wind/rain/etc where the $50 tents will more often then not just cower in the corner. If you're looking to transition into camping vacations, I think you'll find it money well spent. Waking up dry in a terrible storm is priceless.

My boyfriend bought a butane camp stove for last year. We got 8 cans of fuel because we weren't sure how much we would go through. Used a third of one can and we cooked everyday and let our neighbors use it. The thing is amazing and it was on the cheap side.

I have taken this tent hiking before. Only recommend doing that if there is 3 to four people splitting the tent's parts up. Other than that this tent is great for bonnaroo!! I highly recommend you use the guy lines for the basecamp four. It keeps it very sturdy, but also helps with air movement, and thats how you can stay dry!
Cheap inflatable pool floats make great beds. Duct tape two of them together to make a queen...stick three of them together to make a Roo palace. They are super cheap and coming to a Dollar Store near you with spring on the way. I bought a moderately priced one several years ago thinking I would throw it away when the weekend was done but I still have it (Got a $7 back up just in case). Bring an old fitted or flat sheets to cover it with...no one wants to wake up glued to it . if you do not want to invest in fancy air mattress or camping sleeping pads this is the way to go for tent sleeping.

Anyone have ideas for a small table that is sturdy enough to hold a camp stove and/or a tailgater grill? we will be in a car this year not my Durango so space is a little more limited on us.
it also doubles as a flashlight which is ALWAYS handy at Roo
Have you (or someone you know) ever used this before? Does it actually work? How quickly does it charge? How much does it charge? It looks very handy, but a portable charger that cheap has me skeptical.
Best Buy sells (or used to sell) them, and they work. I'll be buying a new one for 'Roo. Since you can swap out the batteries in the unit, you can use rechargeables, what's left of your flashlight batteries on the last day, etc... to juice up your phone. They're handy.
Does anyone have advice on a Battery powered cell phone Charger?
Depending on your phone model, you might want to consider buying a few spare batteries and pre-charging them, then switching when you need. This was recommended to me here last year, and I was amazed at how cheap spare phone batteries were.

They were giving these out one year when I went to Lollapalooza and it actually worked pretty well.
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.
