And if anyone needs gear, Steep and Cheap has a camping section today in the cache. They have some good prices on camping happiness right now. Looking forward to a camp chair with a footrest!
I attempted to assemble this today. It wasn't difficult, but I ripped the seams just stretching the canopy over the frame. Looks like I'll have to skip the cheapo version. Hopefully the seller takes it back. They have positive Ebay reviews, so it shouldn't be too bad.

Sorry to hear that didn't work out, but thanks for the heads up, and at least you got it early enough that you have time to figure out Plan B before the season really gets rolling.
I think the ever-popular E-Z Up Sierra line was discontinued, unfortunately. Some of us have had good luck with the house brand Academy Sports sells, so they're an option. They seem pretty sturdy, and for $50 they are hard to beat for those of us who don't have the budget for something heavy duty. Much better than the generic one I bought several years ago. Academy has cheap/free shipping specials sometimes too, and I think they carry them in stores as well, though I don't have one anywhere near me. Academy Sports Canopy

Thanks to whomever posted this here last year.
The seller asked if they could refund me $15 and I just keep the canopy. I said yes. I'll be the guy with the $25 duck taped canopy.
This 6 person tent is $64 this week at Target. Too big?? I paid the same amount for a 4 person, but its still unopened so I can return. Thought was a good price though!

It's probably not as big as you think--when they say "six person" tent, they mean six people laying side-by-side like cordwood with no gear. I have a "four person" tent that comfortably holds me and a festibud on single airbeds, with a little room for our stuff. A good rule of thumb is to take the number of peeps they say the tent sleeps and divide by two and you get the number it will sleep comfortably.

Hey all, the girlfriend and I are looking into doing cots and the ez-up sleeping setup this year.. We already have the canopy but are looking for some good cots at a reasonable ($50-80) price. I've checked out all of the cots I can find on here but haven't seen any recent deals or outstanding reviews here.

I've used a portable hammock the past few camping seasons, but my back much prefers a flatter sleeping position, so I've sort of been shopping for a cot. Byer of Maine cots look simple but good. I haven't slept on one, just going off of word of mouth mainly. They're mostly in the $50-$80 range. Have you seen anything else worth considering?

I'll look into those.. I've heard a lot of good things about this one and the reviews are solid, but it's a little short for me. Although being 6'2 I'm going to have a bit of trouble finding one where my feet don't hang regardless.

I have a Byer of Maine cot. It's at the upper end of your price range, but it was a game changer at Roo last year. Slept like a baby. Just make sure you have a sleeping mat or small air mattress to put on top.

This looks pretty damn nice, but is it really worth it if I'm going to have to purchase a mat as well?
I'll go for it if it really is.. Just want to make sure before I pull the trigger. Thanks for the suggestion!!
Also, anyone have a good spot to pick up the artificial turf stuff? I think we're going to try that for a floor.

i bought a super cheap air mattress (it was less than $20) and threw that on top. The cot is comfortable on its own, but I wouldn't go without some kind of padding for more than one night on any cot. Even if it's just a sleeping bag. The canvas starts to stretch and sag a bit so you start feeling some of the support poles.
I have back issues too, so the extra cushioning is needed for that too. If I could sleep on the ground for 4 days I would, but I tried that at my first roo and paid dearly.
Edit: also, I just checked what I paid and it wasn't nearly that much for that exact cot. I would sit on it for a few days to see if the price drops or if you can get a better deal elsewhere.

Thanks for the tips! Turns out I'm past return date on amazon so we are stuck with my 4 person one..oh well! Sleeping arrangements are my last big thing to figure out (first timers). Thinkin just use tent for whatever and use two zero gravity chairs under the ez up to sleep. Not sure?
Just a heads up that link is missing the ":" after the "http" in the URL when I hover over it/view it in Chrome. Here's a shorter link that goes to the same thing (amzn.com/B003JDE3JY)

If you're not opposed to spending a bit more money on a higher-end canopy, Amazon is currently selling a 10' x 10' Coleman Instant Canopy w/ LED Lighting for $129 and free shipping. Considering that the regular Amazon list price is $210, this is a fantastic deal. I'm definitely going to purchase one for festivals and other outdoor activities.

Meijer's has an mPerks digital coupon for 15% off your entire camping or sporting goods purchase right now, so if you need a canopy and a tent and a cooler, that could be some significant savings.

I just dropped by the board specifically to post about this, but saw it was already posted. I bought one of these back in February for $189. Wish I had waited. Just ordered a second one at the $129 price yesterday.
Sierra Trading Post has a promo code for 35% off a single purchase that is good through 4/16. It's "SGPLUS41315". I used it twice on two separate orders and got it for each one. There are some really nice tents there--you can get some of the Marmots and Keltys for around $150!

My friend bought one at Wal-Mart at the exit right before the farm. It was really sturdy. He's a big guy and it didn't stretch out or sink in all weekend.

Thanks but I've already purchased this one as mentioned above, and I'm pretty pumped!
I'll be sure to post my review on here when it arrives in about a week in case anyone else is interested.

There is an Alps Mountaineering s&c right now. They have cots. I use the low cot and, for the four days i'm sleeping on it, it's great. It sinks a bit if you use it for a week or more. They also have the full cot.

Just my two cents. Love sleeping on my Alps cot but absolutely hate putting it together. If you do not have good upper body strength or are not traveling with someone who does don't get it.

That's a really, really good point. I spend 20-30 mins putting it together, and it takes some strength to get those first two legs in. When it's 90 degrees and your cot is being disagreeable, it's not a good scene.

I'm still on the fence about purchasing one. I want to do the whole ez-up cot without the tent thing but I like having the tent sometimes. Hope it works out!!
