I need a bigger tent and am giving my daughter my old one, so I am thinking about getting this one. I don't ever camp except for Bonnaroo so it doesn't need to be a high quality tent. It looks like a pretty good deal:
Check out Target before you buy this one (though it does look like a good deal). I was at the one at Nashville west this past weekend and got a coleman 4 person tent for $40.

I am pretty sure that is like the one I have already. It isn't big enough for us. But I will look to see if they have biggers ones. Thanks!
i would also be weary of buying tents that are on sale for that cheap, there is usually a good reason. such as, not waterproof or un-taped seams
I would say that for off brands yes, but my $50 Coleman tent from Sam's club did just fine during the storm we had last year at Bonnaroo. I did however waterproof it beforehand. I just don't want to spend much on a tent I am going to use for one weekend each year.

I have a question about these. What do you do about rain? It looks like rain would run off the tent, get caught in the truck bed, and make a pond under the tent.

^^^ It looks like it has side flaps that the straps keep tight so they overhang to let the rain run over the sides of the bed, probably a similar situation on the front of the bed.

Pretty sure that this is the case. Water runs out and over the sides (and front) of the truck. Never owned one though as I just use my camper shell.

REI Sierra Dome 2 for $100 (usually $170). I've a larger similar version of this tent and it is bulletproof. Easy setup, waterproof (out of the box, no spray treatment BS), stable in the wind and well ventilated (very important if you're camping in TN in the summer).

questionablesanity What kind of Kelty tent do you have? I'm considering getting one myself. Also did you buy the footprint to go along with the tent? I've heard mixed reviews of getting a footprint, but I'm afraid I'll mess up the tarp method of waterproofing the bottom of my tent. (Sorry if you've posted all this before, I'm a little late to this thread)

No worries. I bought the Grand Mesa. I did not buy the footprint. I think it's a waste. I camped in in last year at DMB and it poured. I didn't use anything underneath and we were fine. The rain fly is attached to the tent of course, but it also stakes to the ground at the opening. It kind of makes a little cubby hole for you. It's the best tent I've ever owned.
