It looks like some of you say you want to see them in the 2nd stage late night, but some doubt they can hold their own late night. I am trying to picture them doing a late night show in a tent and I see it being way packed, but I guess it depends on who is conflicting.

they already did late night in a tent and it was super packed. would be even worse if they did it again.

If TMV ever plays Broo again it will, without a doubt, be at night. I doubt they would play if it were in the day. And Broo people know this. Tehy're not THAT stupid.

please, please, please. id come to roo for TMV alone.
and id say it would have to be in a tent and with the sky at least beginning to get dark. from the show i saw in chicago last april it would have to be dark, just in terms of the vibe and the lighting they used.
also at that show they shredded for just under 3 hours. they can bring it and anyone that has seen them when they feel like bringing it knows whats up.
Yeah, I can say with complete honesty that even if the rest of Bonnaroo had the worst line up ever, I'd still go just to see The Mars Volta doing a late night show with the freedom of Roo and their (and my) disposal.
Why isnt there a category for why is this even a question? Hell yes bring that shizzle already...Every year since the first time they played there is a rumor that its gonna happen...Please dont dissapoint this year!
Wow, considering that there's a 50 page thread that's been around for ages, people are coming out like woodwork in support of having TMV at the farm. (I say this because the other TMV thread is basically a few others and myself obsessively posting.)

I hope this hasn't been said already but what about Volta acting as a "headliner" on thursday night? Seems like the arguments are leading to them not being able to hold their own on a bigger stage, yet if they get a late night slot in a tent it will be packed. I think thursday night mini headliner on a smaller stage would be great. Give them a nice time slot with little to no conflict. I don't know much about them but I am very interested in seeing them. I don't know how many people are on the same ship as me but if they play thursday night it would be a lot easier seeing them then waiting until friday or saturday night when some big name late night acts are conflicting.

Volta or Phish Volta or STS9 Volta or Sasha/Crystal Method/Digweed/Bassnectar
I want to see what they are all about, but I know what kind of choice i'll make for a latenight (If it aint Jammin', electronic, or warren haynes. I wont make it)

Yeah I like this...maybe how they did Lez Zeppelin last year...That Stage??..I think....either way a tents going to be packed and I'd much rather have a stage set...
And if there was only litttle conflict then I think we would see a gathering there....either way I'm up front right there ready for it

i feel like the Mars Volta is big enough to have the friday spot at the which stage, exactly when MMJ played last year. anywhere else its probably gonna be overcrowded unless there is something huge conflicting with them, but then again its Bonnaroo and the late-nights are pretty much always answer the call of "How much good music can happen at once?". However i feel like if MMJ was able to draw such a huge crowd when going up VS. Bisco the superjam and Tiesto then the Mars Volta will probably be up to the same task. also, if TMV is playing at almost any time during the day would be pretty disappointing

Agree with pretty much all this. They should get a MMJ's spot, equally as big. If they played a tent there would have to be a big conflict to draw people away.

i don't think anyone believes that they couldn't hold on their own on the bigger stages. it's the face that if they play the big stages during the day, they get less time. that's why we want them late night. and no, i doubt they will do it thur. night.
