I know there is already a Volta thread up and running, but I want to have this thread stick out from it for the time being. You guys have been begging for them for them for a while now and maybe this will be there year. I just heard some buzz that they might play the farm this year. What do you guys think..are you ready for some Volta this year?
I saw them out at Vegoose '06 and they were amazing! The wildest part was that they were right next to the Killers... and if you stood right between the stages you could hear them both at the same time. Very strange, but cool at the same time. I would <3 <3 <3 to see them at the farm!

Don't know them too well, but I promised myself after last year I'd brush up on many 'Roo artists as possible, so I'll definitely check them out if they're confirmed. Actually might download it off Itunes tonight. I know a good rumor when I seen one, and this one feels pretty solid.
Oh, and I see no need in ever retiring that Volta thread . Once they've been booked again, maybe "moved" (to the Which Stage) but not "retired".
Edit: And what is this buzz of which you speak, Jay? All I know of is an album, probably by mid-09, and Omar's overseas tour. Just curious as to what you've heard.
I just heard its a possibility. Thats all I really know. I wish I can tell you guys more. There was a possibility last year but that fell through as we all know. Besides the Phish rumor that I had heard from a source, I usually don't go posting these kind of things unless I have faith in the source.
As far as what I would like best, late night or day set, I'd say it like this;
If they can get like a good 2 - 2 1/2 hour set on the Which Stage around 6 or 7 (so as to close it out for the day, until the late night) I'd love that, that's the only way I could see them during the day at Roo.
As far as late night... I know that many would love to see them on the Which Stage (myself included) late night, but I'm unsure if they'd be a big enough draw. Think of the people who played Which Stage late night in the past couple of years; String Cheese (thought to be one of their last performances for a while), Flaming Lips, My Morning Jacket, Phil Lesh and Friends... I dunno if TMV is that popular, yet.
A late night tent show would be ideal, like they had in 05.
Either a late night tent, closing day set on the Which Stage, or maybe pre-headliner on the What Stage.

Volta closed out ACL on the second stage this year (8:15-9:30) The had a big crowd, but not as big as I thought they would have being from Texas. They should had been on Sat, and Plant/Krauss on Friday...they would have had a bigger crowd, even against Beck.

I'd like to see them. Only know maybe 2 of their albums, but have heard awesome things about them live. I've been hoping they are added to the lineup for a while. would def check them out
They were technically booked for 08 but backed out right before the lineup was announced. I wouldnt not be surprised if they are there this year... as long as they dont cancel again.
I don't want them to be there because I won't be there! I've seen them live before, but seeing them at Roo would be a completely different experience that I would love to have!

But Late Night set man...Which Stage or even a tent for all I care cause I'm there no matter what time
you know there would be a huge consequence for all you fans if they got a late night. The decisions will be brutal this year.
I hope everyone gets to see them. I've been seeing mars volta threads for almost three years now. and finally you all get what you want.
I'm just hoping it's not the same night as a so hopeful Phish latenight set, but even then Phish will play 4 or 5 hrs latenight and The Volta aren't known for their particularly long sets... But lets hope your right man... ;D
