so if you opt-out, you can still alter others' karma? cause for kicks, i briefly switched my profile to opt-out, and was successfully able to give someone karma. i didn't try smiting anyone though; i'm too nice to smite someone just for testing purposes.
This seems like a good idea in theory, I bet it encourages mad smiters like all get out though. There is always someone who is gonna stir up sh!t just because they can.
^^^you are right - but if someone became a mad smiter - the admins would be aable to tell anyway - I mean if they were targeting one person - over and over and over and over - just like they can tell if you have more then one account for an ip address.

I'll stick to the real Karma... I'm done with internet Karma. I kept getting smited for no apparent reason. I'm sure the Karma game could be fun if it was done correctly with no rouge (edit: rogue) smiters.

By "rouge" do you mean a lovely shade of red? Or were you going for "rogue"? hehe
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**

Oh...I'm sorry! LOL! I guess I misinterpreted this from the OTHER thread:
But it's the fact that your karma was dropping caused other members of the board to get angry over it and it in turn started some form of unnecessary drama. It's kind of funny in a way, but at the same time it's pathetic. I mean, no offense but I could care less whether you were exalted 20 times a day or smited 20 times a day. You're still Meg, and nothing's gonna change that. Especially not some silly number that anybody with an internet connection can change as many times as they want.
I guess it all just boils down to that my gripe isn't with you as it is just with your karma. People just care about it way too much for some reason. It's laughable. I mean, I could smite you right now and I guarantee that somebody will notice that you were smited and hold some sort of vendetta about it, which in turn will cause some sort of drama. I've been smited and gone away from my 420 mark quite a bit before and nobody is ranting about how it's not fair that I'm being smited.
I took that to mean that you thought it was silly to fret about karma and it's comings and goings and such...and to keep up with it...or was it just MEG'S karma and IT'S comings and goings that was silly to keep up with and fret about? Cause she got rid of hers too...so that's not an issue anymore either...so I guess we can all get back to more important issues....like whethter Strums is still sitting at the all important 420 mark
Like I said...I really think this is a good thing....no more posing and popularity polls for those of us who don't want to deal with the crap.... ;D The rest of you can just keep on doing your thing....and the great thing is we can vote in the popularity poll if we want...kinda like being Simon on American Idol! :DHaahaahaa!

^^lmao... bama you've officially lost me!
Karma is silly to stick with and keep fretting about its comings and goings, as I thought I made clear there in the post you referenced. And since Meg was the target at hand, it was her karma level that was causing the raucous at the moment. That's what caused me to vent about my opinion on karma. But I still don't know what you were getting at with this "lip service" business. I guess I just don't know the correct definition of "lip service" as the only way I've heard that expression is in the sense of the "talk but not walk" sort of way. As far as I know, I've always been an advocate of karma is stupid, fretting about losing karma is stupid, and getting pissed and holding vendettas about somebody else's karma dropping, is indeed stupid. Saying "You're still Meg" was doing nothing but emphasizing that no matter what the number is below your name, you are indeed still yourself. It takes more than a karma number on inforoo for me to make judgments on a personality. I guess my interpretation was incorrect though. Damn that whole inability to distinguish tone in the interwebz
The way I originally interpreted your post was that it was an accusation of me being the mad smiter after all these years and/or me being dramatically concerned about karma. I guess it was the damn that always gets me. Damn smiley... we should've taken that away rather than the lovely old form of . I miss that smiley...
Anyways, karma in no way is affiliated with a popularity contest or drama queen that you've recently been referencing quite a bit as of late. Whether you have 420,000 karma or -1 karma, it's not that number that people know you by or want to be friendly towards you by. I simply just have become lost on this whole "popularity poll" that you reference, I guess. You're a part of a popularity poll on this message board whether you like it or not. People read your posts, then look at who posted it. Either-- A) "I recognize their name, they must be legit!" or B) "Who the feck is this guy/gal? Must be bullin' us!"
