My source who is friends with Bruce and his management team is telling me that Bruce is closing the festival, this is the year where they are breaking away from tradition that we have seen them follow in years past.
The only way to close out the festival is to have Phish do it.
Has anyone ever noticed what my friends and I referred to as "hippy Sunday" - most of the 'hippy' bands play on Sunday - and the Sunday night closer is always the most 'hippy' of the headliners?
Thanks, but can we keep this organized like last year? I mean have Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and then the bands that are playing that day underneath it? That makes it easier to see who is playing what day. Thanks for starting this thread.
2/5- Papadosio 3/3- MUSE 3/12- John Mayer 3/19- The Werks 3/31- Passion Pit 4/18- Ben Folds 4/20- Against Me! 6/10- Bonnaroo 6/30- Eric Clapton and Roger Daltrey
I would have no problem wit Wilco on Thursday, but they don't usually schedule a major act like that on the 1st night.
someone in the thread that had the leaked lineup mentioned hearing a rumor about Wilco being a Thursday night headliner. I'm not sure if it's from the same rumor that was posted here but it's interesting. Maybe they open up the which stage for Wilco to headline Thursday night?
I don't know what they're going to do but I'm going to be riddled with conflicts.
if you notice the saturday headliner has always been mentioned first, then friday, then sunday. i would guess that phish is fri and sunday and bruce is sat. the bigger name gets the bigger night and phish gets to close it out.

wilco thursday would be cool. or beasties.
they are changing the tradition this year and Bruce is playing on sunday, via my source who knows Bruce and his management.
^ Not so sure about that. I think this could be even further indication of bigger acts taking on Thursday. If you look at the date for Coachella, it's the "actual day" they are playing, not the first day. Other acts (such as Wilco) have put June 11-14, but BoH only lists June 11. Also, Band of Horses is the type of band that would be a perfect opener for Wilco.
I agree it's still pretty unlikely, but I imagine they would've put the specific day on the website, rather than just the first. These things can change though, so we should keep an eye on it.

i think they must have been the last band added to the lineup. remember, they were not on the leak. then they were there when the lineup appeared on the roo site. they probably just don't know what day they are playing yet.
www.highroadtouring.com has Lucinda on Friday and Wilco on SAT. A few others on their roster (such as the DBTs and Alejandro Escovedo) list all four days...and a few others like Tift Merritt do not yet list the festival...
I hope its Friday Phish, Saturday Bruce, and Sunday Phish. Not only for myself but for anyone that is going to try to head out on Sunday cause of work or what have you on Monday. If bruce closes it out sunday then a lot of people may not get the time to see him.

I really think that people are misunderstanding the "hippy band closes Bonnaroo" tradition. It's not "the hippy band" that closes. It's the "band that half the attendees don't really care to see" that closes. From a logistics standpoint, you WANT people to leave early on Sunday. The smooth outflow is FAR more important than extra beer sales on Sunday night. Boss closes because half the people there don't care to see him. Just like every year Widespread closed, I was back home in Atlanta by 8:00 PM.
heres an idea, and lord let this be true, but WHAT IF nine inch nails actually headlines saturday, (which is completely plausible because they are headliner worthy)? with bruce breaking the mold and closing on sunday, this allows a band who isnt listed first to headline saturday. ALSO, with phish headlining one night and doing a late night, it only makes sense that they headline first, which would be on friday so they can do late night on saturday. that would leave phish on friday, NIN possibly on saturday, and bruce on sunday.
most importantly, that would keep NIN and TMV from playing at the same time and ruining my life

I have been thinking the same thing since I know Bruce is on Sunday, and we found out NIN on saturday, using deductive logic Bonnaroo has two nights of phish and might want those nights to be back to back for all the phish heads who love their back to back shows on a phish tour run. so I see it the same way and you can have TMV midnight after Nails while Phish plays midnight till sunrise which gives the festival a peak sort of feeling for the weekend.

Well in that case it should be Phish, only because they've already played one night before

i doubt anything is set in stone anyway at this point, but i would assume that it would go something like this:
friday: either beastie boys or nin headline (possibly one of them late night) saturday: bruce headline / phish late night / possibly either beastie or nin late night sunday: phish
its by far the most logical setup. personally i would have beasties headline friday, then bruce saturday with phish and nin late night (phish on what, nin on which). then sunday i would let phish close it out.
