Sangreal, I think you have found where Public Enemy will go. Late night Which Stage seems approriate I don't think Widespread will be added, it looks like they are doing their own thing til August. I can't see them playing second fiddle willingly to anyone.
Nice thought process though. I don't see Snoop playing the Which Stage. I think he is too big for that. I think your last mock was dead on this one seems off but moving PE to the Which Stage seems right to me.
I still can't make up my mind on if I think Volta will play late night or not . I see them headlining a tent just because late night is so crowded.
Oh and I got an email today from Roo stating that details for Bonnaroo 2009 are still being finalized and the additions/ no additions decision has not been made yet. I'm going to post it in the Lineup additions thread later.
I don't care what you say about me, just spell my name right---P.T. Barnum "As I was walking up the stairs I met a man who wasn't there He wasn't there again today I wish to God he'd go away."
So I was reading over the Mars Volta forum on their site last night and I'm really beginning to think Superjam is going to have to be a preheadliner (Sunday, maybe even Saturday). I think Volta falls into the same category as the Flaming Lips, their first show there was so awesome as a late night that I don't see them being moved to a day or even preheadliner slot. Yes, I know part of the reason Lips played Late Night was spaceship in 2007. I really do think though that volta's 2005 show was so well recieved that they won't move them. This years schedule is going to be different and I think its a very realstic possiblity that SuperJam could be preheadliner on Saturday.
are headie points the new karma? and if so, how the f*ck am i that far in the negative?
I don't know, but I gave you a Crunchy point for putting David Byrne late night. That would make my weekend.
David Byrne late night would be awesome but would probably piss off so many more people (who would miss it due to Phish). I don't think Al Green can hold down a pre headliner slot on the What Stage. I mean he could but David Byrne just seems so much more likely, hopefully. Either way Roo is all about compromise so I'm sure I'll miss something really sweet.
If this holds true, I would imagine he is either opening for Phish or closing the Which Stage.
Nice find. I gave some karma on that. I'm really beginning to think that our additions are done. I think maybe we might get the Derek Trucks Band on Saturday and Allman Brothers Band on Sunday but other than that as possiblities. I do believe we may be done (probably are done now but I'm a wishful thinker).

I think we have two more addition dates (April 22nd and May 20th due to "Road to Bonnaroo") so I wouldn't be surprised that April 22nd we get a "big named" band to preheadline Phish Sunday...if Snoop Dogg closes Which Stage, do you think Dr. Dre will join him?

Yeah I think we still have four potential main stage additions. Probably only one huge addition though (ABB) and 3 smaller ones judging by how its shaping up. I think April 22nd we will get the final four (no pun intended) along with the rest of the cafe acts. On May 22nd I think we will get the Something Else tent and the Official Schedule.

I keep seeing Pretty Lights as a Friday night late-night set on people's mocks. They're one of the very last bands on the lineup - now, I know the system isn't perfect, but generally bands that low would be playing Thursday night, or an early day slot.
as far as this reasoning goes, Yeasayer is pretty low on the list, but they've already said they'll be sharing a late-night tent with MGMT. So I'm not sure the late-nights are all the high-on-the-list bands...then again, they are billed higher than pretty lights, so I think you're right as far as pretty lights being a thursday night slot.

They're one of the very last bands on the lineup - now, I know the system isn't perfect, but generally bands that low would be playing Thursday night, or an early day slot. I think PL is definitely a night time band, so I'd probably have them on Thursday somewhere. I think Raphel Saadiq is also not a Thursday night act - he's billed way too high, on par with bands like Ted Leo, Crystal Castles, Dillinger Escape Plan...I doubt we see him before Friday.
I think we'll see Raphael Saadiq open the Which Stage one day like Sharon Jones/Dap-Kings did last year.
And Snoop Dogg has the 11th listed on his. I don't think MySpace dates really mean all that much. Unless they also have dates listed for the 11th, 13th, 14th, etc., I don't think we can put stock in MySpace as being definitive.
if you keep up with it you can pretty much tell when it is a real date and when it's just a place holder. pretty lights has the 12th at 11pm. while it probably won't start at 11, that's a pretty good indication that he's playing late night. snoop's page has the first day of the fest at the default time of 8 pm. and now pollstar has him on sun. sun. makes much more sense than thur.

that's possible. i actually don't believe he will be thur. either. just couldn't figure out where to put him.
I was wrong, but I corrected that tonight and will be right in the morning. You, however, will remain an asshat.
No, I remain right, because I use things like logic and facts to back up my opinions rather than simply asserting myself whilst denigrating the opinions of others. Also I don't name call.
Still, to hold true to my original stance on this, I don't really believe PollStar either. They tend to get dates wrong for Bonnaroo bands all the time (i.e. how they have the Decemberists listed for all 3 days this year). They're totally fallible.
I must say, I"m bummed that only CandyFlippedAround took me up on my bet. That said, I'm excited about the beers he owes me.

The only additions (besides Something Else and cafe) I see happening would be the Allman Brothers Band or something similar (Black Crowes maybe) and Thursday acts, in which case Public Enemy would be a late night on Friday on The Which Stage and Snoop would open the What Stage. I think Galactic will try to do an African inspired set. It'd be a night time set (7:45 to 9:15 maybe).
Does anyone think Raphael Saadiq will headline a tent on Thursday. The lineup is pretty packed already on the weekend and usually the Thursday night tent headliners are semi well known. In 2007 we had Rodrigo Y Gabriela, Clutch, and Tea Leaf Green, 2008 was Vampire Weekend, Dark Star Orchestra, and Lez Zeppelin. I'm thinking this year will be Zac Brown Band, Passion Pit, and Raphael Saadiq. I agree that I think Raphael Saadiq is too big to be a normal tent act on Thursday but I think closing out one of the tents on Thursday would fit perfectly.
Anyone else think that he could/will play that slot?

i could see raphael saadiq closing a tent on thursday
i could also see him billed on the "normal" days
i haven't heard his music, but based on the fact that he's soul, r&b and hip hop i could see him billed with either allen toussaint, booker t & dbts or janelle monae - those are just some acts i think he'd go perfect with, either opening for or playing before
i know on thursday they sometimes mix a number of genres together in a tent (excluding this tent last year was all alt/indie) but on fri, sat & sun they generally put artists together who typically are similar types of music or might have similar fanbases
so keep that in mind if you're working on a mock schedule

Thoughts on the mock?
I like your mock for the most part but there are a few things that I don't like. I don't think Grizzly Bear will play on Which Stage on Friday, I just don't see it. I really don't think Crystal Castles will be during the day. I dont think Superjam will be on Friday because I would bet that a member of Phish will be a part of it so I really dont think it will be Friday. Also the more and more I think about it the more im sure that Animal Collective will have a late night. They would add a good conflict to late night electronica and late night Phish. I think Crystal Castles and Animal Collective will be sharing a late night tent on Friday.
