Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
My tolerance for alcohol dropped really low right before Roo last year because I quit drinking and it dropped even lower when I got tired and dehydrated. If you feel drunk, it's only gonna get worse so know your limits. I had one beer before Gogol Bordello and my main memory from that set was sitting spaced out against a trashcan with people throwing plastic water bottles on my head. I think I had to roll my body on the ground to stand up when we left. Seriously. One beer. It was not fun.
^^ This! When we get up in the morning, we have maybe 2 bloody marys before 10am. After that it's 2-3 waters for every beer until night fall. You don't realize how tired you get from drinking alcohol until you are sitting against a tree in 100 degree heat at 2pm just trying to hold your eyes open.
A good tip is freeze a TON of grapes and orange slices before you leave for the Farm, keep a little bag of those on you while in Centeroo, whenever you feel drowsy (from booze or heat), eat a couple. The sugar and vitamins will help pick you up until you get a second wind. The frozen lemonades do the same thing, and are damn tasty!
booze - The folks here are absolutely right. Pace yourself, plan on water and lots of it, try to sleep a little at some point. The theory is usually that you'll stay up and then sleep in but the tents can roast you as soon as the sun comes up if it's hot. One of the guys in our camp got loaded the first night (a combination of beverages and pharmaceuticals) and he completely missed Friday.
Bonnaroo is like one huge party with all your best friends. Take everyone's advice about not drinking so early. As for the drunken rowdy part, its all good, no one will shun you for having a good time. However, dont be a drunken asshole. then youll have problems. just remember everyone is there for one reason: to have a good time, possibly even the best time of their lives. why should anyone screw up someone elses favorite weekend of the year? not to be tacky, but it would almost be like ruining christmas for a child on xmas morning.
So yea, just be cool and play it safe and youll have the best time ever, i promise

Dude, what I like to recommend for Thursday is to find some of the best corn you can around the roo', drink like three beers and enjoy as much corn as possible at a band you dont even know. That way you can pay attention to the music, but also take in as much as you can. Just take in the atmosphere and just enjoy it while you can! The three days go before you know it!
Sitting on the farm, at the very beginning of the festival, just after nightfall. Enjoying the best corn, with your best friends. Feeling and smelling the breeze of the Tennessee.
super corny but its probably one of my favorite parts of the roo!
Just thinking about it gives me that feeling of wanting to jump around and scream!
If everyone else hasnt pounded it in yet... the night time is the right time. You start out smashed and you wont make it to the night time, and the night shows are the best part.
yeah..late nights where its at..not to mention, the shows are better late night (its a fact that i have proven myself time and time again).i save my drinking for the closing shows on sunday unless i have to leave right after. it makes you forget bonnaroo is about to be over which is one of the very few shitty parts about Roo..having to go back to reality
Pre heat oven to 95 degrees. Take 2 parts GD/Phish Lot-Scene, Mix in a pinch of frat party and state fair. Bake for 2 days. Remove from oven, splash with water and beer, mix in remaining ingredients: Camping, live music, epic roadtrip, and tailgate party. Add Corn to taste, Bake for 2 more days.
this is great... if i could use this description on my "show"... that would be killer... i do a video series over at bonnaroo.com... and would be more then happy to give you all the credit you deserve... let me know.

i have no problem getting up at 6, 7 am and drinking all day and into the late night... in ohio...
at bonnaroo, like many have said, its a completely different story.....
i remember almost passing out at nickel creek in 06, and my friend almost passing out last year during two gallants because she didnt listen to my warning....
like everyone has said, take it easy during the day...
I tend to stick to PBR's, and really just a few durng the day. I do love my beer for breakfast though, at night I switch to a high gravity brew like Dales or Leaderboard. It is ok to drink a little in the morning/day just keep up with vitamin water, or whatever to stay hydrated. The more alcohol you have the harder that will be so if you are gonna just stick to a cheap low alcohol beer.
I plan on just sticking to lots of corn thursday and sunday with a few beers and taking some other pharmacuticals (sp?) on friday and saturday. This is my first time going so I don't want to get too crazy too soon, and I don't want to be feeling like poop when it's time to leave early sunday.

When it starts to heat up I tend to drink outside more often on my days off. I prepares me. This hot MS weather aint no better or worse than that of the farm.
But combined with all the walking and thinking I sometimes have to do at the farm, I usually don't start drinking till about 6 or 7 before then, its whatever else is available.
Last year I found a pretty good balance that allowed me to keep that perfect buzz (ya know, when everything feels all warm and fuzzy ) pretty much all day with enough energy to party during the latenight shows.
I took in approximately one bottle of water for every two beers. Slightly more water during the middle of the afternoon, when it's hottest. A steady filling of corn all day long was fine, but not so much that all I wanted to do was take a nap. That part is simply knowing your limit, there's no trick to it or anything.
I'd usually mix a small amount of some very good fungus that was floating around the campground into my lunch (mmm, pep and mush spicey pie ). That helped with the energy. It usually wan't too much, but enough to make things interesting
Right before the headliner, I'd go to my tent and mix my first really stiff drink. I'd get that in me, grab some more fungus and head to the main stage. I'd either re-fungify myself right as the headliner was coming on or around the mid-point of the set. Perfect timing for the latenight sets.
During the headliners and latenight shows, if I felt like a beer, I'd have a beer. I didn't worry at that point about the hydration factor. Once the sun is down, everything's groovy.
Here's a few other things to keep in mind.
1) Water before bed. Make sure you hydrate yourself before you turn in for the night. Your tent will get really hot in the morning and if you didn't drink any water before you went to sleep, your hangover is going to be killer
2) Remember to eat. An empty stomach can really drag your energy down, not to mention make you feel sick.
3) If you start to feel crappy, don't just ignore it. Take it easy for a while, get some water and something to eat. You'll be thankful later
Our crew parties a lot, but I learned the hard way about not drinking too much too early... Laying unconscious backstage for a few min, while my co-host sat there drinking a beer and spitting sunflower seeds on me (he thought I was napping! ha) was not a fun way to spend an hour! I had to get up for Manu Chao though, so mind over matter!
Anyway, stay hydrated!!! Rothbury is MUCH more conducive to drinking a ton all day and night. It's about 20-40 degrees cooler there, and you can always jump in the lake!
I'm coming into the discussion a little late but one thing that catches 1st timers is the lack of recovery time. The shows can go til 3-4 am and once the sun comes up ~7 am your tent will turn into a sauna. Even if you find shade during the day, the heat can make napping difficult. So just factor in that it may be hard to "sleep it off".

Alcohol and night swimming, it's a winning combination!

once again, don't get wasted early on, save energy for the late nite's . in 07 i thought i would be cool and wake up and start drinking and eat goo balls, I missed ben harper because i had to sit in the car w/ the air conditioning running for like 3 1/2 hours

Just know your limits. Don't go so far overboard you're hindering on the good times of others around you, and if you do, simply apologize. I know last year I got a little too crunk in the club at a few shows and felt like a major douche for having to apologize for bumping people around me lol.

I have a question. My parents pointed out that the stuff there could be laced with something. I plan on partying my heart out, but I don't want to try something that I didn't plan on, you know? Have you guys ever heard of this happening at Roo?
Oh man... With any group of 80,000 people together, you're going to have your good and bad people. No matter how many good people there are at Bonnaroo, there will always be a few bad seeds out there. Be careful. Bonnaroo's only as safe as you make it!
i would throw in: BRING A SHADE TENT. You will be up at 8 am due to the heat in your tent. The music doesn't start for 4 hours. You don't want to be chilling in the sun, working on your sunburn for 4 hours before the day even starts
And as far as laced, that's always been a dubious claim to me. Adding substance X to substance Y costs someone money - and the goal of selling substance Y is to make as much money as possible. Adding something "extra" would decrease profits, no? Worst case is you might end up buying bunk stuff...

I just dont do ANYTHING before sundown. After 2006 (my first year) missing EVERY latenight, I learned my lesson and will not take any risks. Wait till the sun goes down, that's my best advice.
Also: WATER WATER WATER, food (you may not want to eat but you NEED the energy), and rest when you need to. Don't be afraid to watch a few shows sitting down. It will make all the difference!

lulz. honestly I'd be more worried about getting fake party favors than i would be about my party favors being laced or something like that. most stuff you can tell by eye, but some times my friends lucy and molly can be hard to identify. molly is likely to end up being fake towards you and lots of people try to convince you that all sorts of different people are really lucy, when they really arent.
gawd that was geigh.
it sounds like you dont know what you are doing though so you should probably take it easy. if nothing else always remeber you can always take more, but you can never take less.
I would have to agree. The likelihood of someone paying ~$300 to get into Bonnaroo and then going to the trouble of lacing something, thereby incurring more costs on their part and less payout, is highly unlikely. But hey, if you don't feel comfortable, don't buy it.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!! It's getting CLOSER!!! I can't wait!!!!!!!
I was lying in a burned out basement With the full moon in my eyes. I was hoping for replacement When the sun burst thru the sky. There was a band playing in my head And I felt like getting high.
