And as far as laced, that's always been a dubious claim to me. Adding substance X to substance Y costs someone money - and the goal of selling substance Y is to make as much money as possible. Adding something "extra" would decrease profits, no? Worst case is you might end up buying bunk stuff...

This isn't entirely true for all cases. Sometimes, substance X costs less than substance Y. So therefore if you only purchase half the amount of substance Y and replace the other half with the cheaper substance X but sell for full price of substance Y... you make bank.
But, this is rare and as others have said it's more likely that what you get is just bunk as opposed to laced with something.

this is typically more common in powders and pills. One of the many reasons I don't touch them anymore
