And sorry, MizV.. more wine talk! I weigh in soon and I drank 6 out of the past 7 nights!! Which is WAY more than I usually drink. But I ate really well, so let's hope that they balance out in my favor... After dinner (even with the wine), I was 5 calories under my MFP goal (I ate REALLY well during the day to save calories for din ala LLL style)... aaand then I met a friend out and had another glass. Aaaaaand then other friends invited us over and I had two more glasses. Oops.

I was under the impression that the following monthly breakdown was more or less accepted in terms of fitness:
Oct: Binge for Halloween Nov: Binge for Thanksgiving Dec: Binge for Christmas Jan: Binge to cope with winter depression Feb: Binge for Valentines Day Mar: Binge for St Patrick's Day Apr-Jun: Get fit for Roo Jul: Super-binge for 4th of July and making up for previous 3 months Aug: Too hot to do anything but eat. Binge without moving. Sept: September, you bore me. Do something already.
So I just changed my MFP food diary to look like KK's. In a bunch of time frames rather than by "meal." It makes way more sense with my lifestyle. Also using her inspiration, I am going to start tracking my vitamins- more for a reminder type thing than caloric intake.

This looks about right. And yay on all of the weight loss! I've been pretty busy the last few days and haven't had time to do much other than just track my food.
I'm down 6 pounds since the first of the year. I never did change my weight on MFP to reflect the 7 pounds I put on during the last half of December so I haven't recorded the loss. I'll be able to start recording a loss there soon though. Now I've only got 4 more pounds to go till I catch up to where I was in the fall.
Bonz, I think you'll like having your diary set up in time periods rather than the breakfast, lunch, dinner format. I don't always eat on a schedule and my diary makes so much more sense now.
I understand y'all with your wine talk. Except my problem is vodka. Especially that super yummy caramel vodka in homemade hot chocolate. Soooo good but soooo bad! I've not had any in a while cause my big mug full would probably use up the rest of my calories for the day. And I like to eat way too much to do that.

And after posting about vodka I caved and made myself a drink. Nothing like cleaning after having an extra large, heavily spiked hot chocolate with tons of whipped cream. Time for a break already!
So was doing ok all week w/ everything (gym/food) and hadn't drank since Sunday and then I get a text from my kid brother who is expecting his first kid and my first neice/nephew. He tells me to jump on skype because he wanted to tell me about their latest doctors appointment yesterday and low and behold he is holding a beautiful baby girl! We sit around for 2 hrs. talking about everything and share a virtual Guinness (we are irish...what can I say) with the beaming couple. I figured that if there was ever a reason to break my rule of only drinking on Sunday, this would be it!

Just move. Get fit is the key. Use those muscles. Then savor whatever the hell you want to eat. Winter doldrums are almost over. Pitchers and catchers are reporting and Coach Donnie is gonna make himself and those kids sore and strong.

MFP was created to help people lose a few pounds by making it easier to track their food and exercise. The main part of it (for me) is the food diary. Each food entry is accompanied by all of its (user submitted) nutritional information, so when you add it to your day, it'll keep a running tally of it all. For me, I tally calories, carbs, fat, protein and fiber. You can set your goals yourself, but it's based on your daily caloric goal and what percentages of calories do you want to come from fat/ carbs/ protein.
There's also a part to track your exercise and it'll debit the calories to your daily total. You can also track your weight, there's a forumish area and a main wall which we all just basically say, "Yay Steph! "Way to go, KK!" type things (we are all friends on there, so tour workouts and such post to the wall).
There's a group, but it's really just a thread that's not really used. (unless people are using it, but not me?) I mean, we have this thread, so it's kinda repetitive.

I was actually just thinking about how much better I feel already! Whereas, I don't look any different yet, I feel a HUGE difference.
Tonight I made a sort of Italian chili with chicken thighs and chicken sausage. I veggied it up heavily with mushrooms, green peppers and collard greens. MFP recipe builder puts it at 157-9-7-16 per cup which aaaaain't bad. Plus I plan to serve it over a bed of broccoli when I can. I haven't had a bowl yet, but I'm excited to!
I also impulse bought a 3 lb thing of imitation crab. I guess there is worse things to buy! But now to eat all the crab, the chili and everything else in the fridge....

I have to admit to the same thing bonzai. It's going to take a lot of less for it to be obvious to others but I feel better eating like this. The low carb is so much better for me than trying to be on a 1200 calorie diet where I want to eat everything I see, food or non food.

Even with my fat ass being 50 lbs overweight I have an unreasonable amount of self confidence. More than I should have, by a lot. That's why I packed on the pounds!!!

Anyways, I'm staying on point with my diet, and really doing well. I went back and weighed myself at the grocery store scale where I always do, and there was a sign on it that says something like: this scale is wrong, and has to be calibrated. I got on anyways, and I was up another 2 1/2 lbs but I didn't log it because its an incorrect measurement. I'm hoping that by Thursday or Friday it's fixed and I can log my weight, whatever it may be. I feel like I'm losin weight because my clothes are fitting better. I can reach my hand now the front of my go to jeans!!! Time for a new pair? Naw, I'll wait to lose another 15-20 and splurge on some Diesel.
Everyone on mFP is doing so well!! Awesome to see so many logging in for 20-30 days in a row and some losing double digit pounds!!!!

Mayo is here to join in the fun (again). I've been back at bootcamp all this month, with minor set backs due to sickness and a couple sessions cancelled for weather (early morning + ridiculous ice warnings). I do not anticipate a massive drop from the beginning of this month to the beginning of Feb, but I feel like after last year, I know the "recipe" for me to get losing and get tone fast.
I drink an ass of water - seriously - I lost the most and felt the best when I was getting down 3 Liters a day. One before lunch, one before I left work, and one before I went to bed. Yes at first I peed a LOT, but then my body started utilizing the water correctly, and I went back to normal eventually.
I also did a high protein, low(er) carbs, less sugar, normal fats diet. Did a little "paleo", did a little "atkins", basically took the smart-"duh" type info from those structures and watched what I ate. With of course, the weekly slurge or cheat. Helloooooo booze!
And duh - working out. When I was going for one hour 4 times a week, 5+mile run on Saturdays, and 20-30 min short run after work on workout days, I was feeling and looking GREAT. So it's my goal to get back to all that. Also, there is a Vampire 5K here in ATL in April - the money goes to local blood banks (brilliant) - and you get to choose if you're a vampire (chaser) or non-vamp (runner). Im pretty stoked to do it.

So glad to see you back, Mayo!! We all need mayo in our diet Reading your post reminds me that I really need to up my water intake. I am a water drinker, but ever since I lost my favorite water bottle a few weeks ago (which is 35 bucks to replace- and the new one has a sucky design).. my water intake has crashed and burned. I know it sounds odd, but a water bottle that you love really helps.
Besides boozey nights, last night was my biggest splurge night since I recomitted... It snowed here and I got to go home early and do some work at home. My roommate has Mondays off and was home as well. She decided to order in pizza. Although I truly was ok without the pizza and not craving it at all.. I knew once it arrived and it smelled up the house, I would be insanely jealous. So I ordered too. Aaaaaand it wasn't even good (it was my first time ever ordering delivery outside of drunken college nights). A total waste. Bonzai is sad. At least if it was good pizza...

BONZ - I "liked" your post bc we DO all need MAYO in our diet. But I would like to "dislike" at the same time bc crappy pizza is awful. It's difficult to screw up pizza. And also, youre right about a water bottle - I got this nalgene like, 2 years ago, and without it I completely forget to drink water. FORGET. I'll go the whole day at work without any water bc instead of my liter in front of me, I have to get up and go to the water cooler like 3 times.... and Im lazy! I just want my water in front of me!
Im back at work today, and feeling icky, but tomorrow Im going to workout. I think I can do it.

Okay, time for a review. The family had spaghetti with mild italian sausage. I had the same but instead of spaghetti I had the shiritaki noodles
So first of all in the bag this stuff looks disgusting. It needs to be kept refrigerated so when you take it out you've got a cold pack if you don't like it. You cut the package open and drain it into a colander. Rinse well with hot water because it smells kind of fishy. It's made of yam so why it smells fishy is beyond me. At this point it will look like very white ramen noodles. It's warm and you can eat it like this but it is pretty rubbery.
I used the dry fry method which dried them out a bit but although I waited patiently they did not brown. They don't taste like anything but think about it, what does spaghetti really taste like?
So covered with red sauce with ground beef, italian sausage and parmesean cheese they made a decent substitute for spaghetti. I expect they would be pleasant in a dish where they were a part of the dish rather than the focus such as soups, stir frys etc.
I bought mine at the local asian market, 4 ounce package for 1.50 including tax. They carry the white ones I bought as well as the same ones with seaweed, they were green and that just wasn't happening. They also carry the shiritake noodles with tofu which adds a carb and a couple of calories. The tofu ones come in a variety of shapes, my shop had spaghetti, fettucine and elbow macaroni. I'll probably try them out when I'm further along and add more carbs.
The original noodles have 0 calories, 0 carbs, 0 cholesterol, 0 fat, etc. Well that's all.
Thanks for the review! Lots of good info I think I might pick up a package later this week to eat with my "Italian chili" which is really just a glorified tomato sauce. I asked my sister about it and she eats it a lot for lunch in a homemade "soup." She has a long commute to work (10 minute drive, 40 minute Bart ride, 1.5 mile walk) and doesn't like to carry too many things with her so her lunch often depends on the grocery store down the street. She often adds shirataki and whatever precooked veggies to chicken broth and then will flavor it up with hot sesame oil, soy sauce... she loves it. She admits that they are nothing special by themselves..
So my mom bought a nice blender (think Vitamix but a different brand) for herself about a year ago, but never used it. She gave it to me! It was just sitting here for about a month 'til tonight... (Maybe Phil inspired me though I am not a believer in juicing)
I made a double serving (bringing half to work tomorrow) and it works out to be 200-34-0-11. (I ended up doubling the spinach shown and you can only see about half of the cucumber) Yum yum yum!!! It was last minute, so I just picked from what I already had in the fright, but it worked out!
