Lifting and doing crunches, pushups, jumping jacks... also cut pasta for fresh veggies. Not a big fast food eater, so that is not a problem. Can't bring myself to cut the alcohol, tho. That's just crazy talk!

That's the hardest part for me, too. The rest.... ehhh pretty easy when I am in the right mindset. But the WINE!! Oh man the wine!! And the vodka!!! And the delish IPAs!!!

Ohhhhh, the IPA's!!! Don't get me started. Why do the delicious beers have to have the most calories? Sugars equaling alcohol % be damned! Bell's Two Hearted & Hopslam, Short's Huma Lupa Licious, Dogfishhead... damn you all.

well, guys, after some fits and starts I'm on this thing. I have only made it to the gym twice in the past week and a half because work has been insane...and my days off are completely spoken for with things that have to be done. I have realized that I am something that has to be done! So I'm making some progress. My daughter Maggie is doing an app called "couch to 5K" now for 3 weeks along with some toning stuff - 3 weeks into it there is already a hugely noticeable change...so that has me motivated. I am not a runner - have a bad knee - but she suggested that I do the app on an elliptical...so I might try that. I totally agree that alcohol is going to be one of my major downfalls. I don't even drink that much, but when I do, I like wine, IPAs and ciders usually...need to get some vodka to mix with Crystal Light...with the lemon/lime its actually pretty good.
If I had even the sliiiiightest religious bone in my body, I would try that too. But that's a no-go.
I'm not religious either, but I went to church in high school and its one thing that stuck with me. At this point it isn't a religious thing at all, just something I try and do every year. It's more a test of willpower and a sense of accomplishment that I get out of it.
That being said, alcohol is going to be the biggest test to date.
Haven't read anything past this current page, but I thought I would give my two cents, so I apologize if it is repeating. I have recently started interval training with a weighted jump rope, and in less than a week, I have lost almost two inches from my waist line. I also read that if you use a weighted hoola hoop for 10 mins in the AM and PM, you shed inches quickly as well. If anyone else tries this, let me know if it works for you too!
^^^HOOPING. Great idea dwanaroo. Abra and Daniroo gave me some sweet hoops last year, and I should bust them out in the evening.
I got on MFP and added some of you crazies, so now you can call me out when Im not logging in (Im looking at you Druid.)
Did not go to workout this week. Really trying to kick this cold/flu/whatever that I have invading my body. Today is the first day I really feel like im "on the mend." Also, I have Sang and Mrs. Sang coming in this weekend for the bday festivities, and brunch and superbowl on sunday. So Im going to REALLY try to keep the insanity to a minimum. My trainer emailed all his clients, and this month is "BELLY BLAST" month. Apparently on top of the normal bootcamp torture, we will be focusing on core, will have diet plans assigned to us individually, and will have nightly "homework"... Im like, CAM, IT"S ABOUT TIME. So Im looking forward to what the scale will say come March 1.
...but hooping in the evening is something I can totally get down with... gonna put that on the frontburner.

Zen- 1. Baby steps! Two times is way better than no times (like me!) 2. I did C25K about 4 years ago. It's truly great for those who are just starting out and need something more easily doable. 3. Totally friended you on MFP
Surf-Yeah... I haven't been to a service since I almost burned the church down (no joke- but not on purpose) when I was like 5. Not to bring too much religion into this thread, but let's just say, I am truly atheist, not just agnostic.
Mayo- I'm so glad that you are getting back to normal! I haven't been truly sick for more than a few hours since mid-elementary years so I can't imagine the destruction it does. <knocking on wood> PS. Consider yourself friend on MFP!
So after talking about my sucky water drinking skills, I upped my game. I ordered my $35 water bottle (and realized that $10 goes to some charity, so that makes me feel a little better) and have increased my water intake even without it. I've been refilling a MetroMint bottle in the interim. It's a thick plastic with a durable label.- 500 mL/16.9 oz. I had 7-8 bottles of water yesterday and I am almost done with my second bottle of the day. Feeling hydrated! I forgot how awake and energetic I feel when I'm downing the H20.

Two big pieces of fruit in one day is like 2/3 of the daily carbs!! I don't pay *too* much attention to that though. As long as my carbs come from a healthy source, I'm not too worried.

So, I keep an archive of show dresses/costumes going back to my very first band. Partially for nostalgia, partially because some of them are lovely and even when I've been too heavy to fit in them I've had a hard time throwing them away. Anyway, I told myself when I dropped to a certain point I would brave going into the archive and seeing how far back in time I could go before something didn't fit. Last night was the night, and lo and behold... I fit into EVERY SINGLE DAMN DRESS in there, many of them too big, and they all fit without any corseting (some of them actually never fit me without a corset even when I bought them). I have my first gig in 8 months next weekend, and I'm gonna wear a ball gown I bought 13 years ago and wore once, which never actually fit me at the time (I had it all pinned together in the back under a shrug when I originally bought it). This time, it zips all the way up, no corset, no pins.
I know this stuff shouldn't effect my self esteem, weight's just a number, but the fact that I CAN lose weight now, after years of starving and struggling and wondering why I ate almost nothing and got bigger and bigger...that made me tear up a little. I feel great and its starting to show on the outside, 55lbs later. Another 20 and I'll be the weight I was in my early teens, but without disordered eating and poor health. Its just so nice to have control, and to not feel like my body is an illogical traitor and my life is ruled by hormone imbalances and crazy blood sugar.
Wow! MizV... yes, life is not all about your weight, but life IS about how you feel about yourself. And for many people, for me 100%, weight has a direct correlation to self-esteem and over-all happiness. So don't make this not seem like a big thing, because it is! I am SO incredibly happy for you (and isn't it GREAT to go shopping in your old clothes?!??). And PS. In the old pics I've seen of your shows, I freaking love your dresses!

Week 3 Check-in: Down 2 pounds for a total of 5 lost and 20 to go 'til Roo!
My new water bottle came in last night and I LOVE having it already. It actually has a mini filter inside the straw too It's a 20 oz bottle and I just started bottle 3 for the day.

Katbur- I may have more too lose, but "25 til Roo" is my current goal for the purpose of this thread But good job! 1 is a very solid and normal number to lose. Losing 3 every week while still living a normal lifestyle is not very feasible! Are you looking for suggestions or just commenting (I know sometimes I want to complain and am not looking for additional comments)?

Thanks Bonzai, love to you for the cheers! I know it's reasonable and healthy and everything else I guess I just needed to vent. I also need to get together with a trainer and get a weight program. Love the Zumba but I know I have to do weights too.

Bonz, yer the sweetest. Thank you. ;D Congrats to you, katbur and all the other folks on here on making progress...so nice to have a 'safe' place to come celebrate without feeling like a braggy jerk! Yinz rock.
Also, here's a piece of inspiration I hit on yesterday...this probably seems obvious to you folks but I didn't realize it before. As you lose weight, a one pound weight loss becomes a larger % of overall bodyweight lost. In other words, as you get closer to your goal weight, don't stress too much that the # lbs/week slows down a bit, because its possible that you're losing a comparable % of bodyweight based on your new size. For instance a 1lb weight loss at my old weight accounted for .4% of bodyweight lost, while a 1lb weight loss now counts for .51% weight lost. Tiny differences but it made me feel better!
Mizval, that is awesome to hear!!! good for you! ;D
Katbur, get off the soda! I like the Sobe Life water
Not sure how it is naturally sweet, I am sure there is something in these than my body does not need, but strawberry is very GOOD and so is the Apple!
Well, looks like my plan has slowed. I have only loss 3 pounds the past 3 weeks. I was hoping to loose more. I am planning on stepping it up this month. I was allowing myself a PnJ every other night, not any more. I have been eating healthy, but I allow myself to eat whatever. I still find exercise to be my biggest hurddle. I hate it!

I had a cheat day yesterday. Nothing crazy. I had: sub for lunch (first bread Ive had in a month) with a Boylan's cream soda (the standard) Dinner I had an Irish egg (kind of a play on a scotch egg), a 1905 salad (kickass) and a lobster flatbread. White chocolate bread pudding for dessert. And beer. LOTS AND LOTS OF BEER.
The end result? I couldn't sleep due to indigestion, felt horrible and bleh. Today Im cleansing myself with some homemade vegetable soup with the leftover veggies in my fridge from last week.
I haven't weighed myself in a while, I should do that soon.
Moral of the story for me? Cheat days are overrated. That sucked.
After driving over 1300 miles in 3 days, being surrounded with tons of sinful food, and getting little to no exercise, I came home to find I didn't gain any weight. YAY! I even cheated BIG time & had soda (both diet & regular ) With no more than 4 hrs of sleep those 3 nights & two 10 hour drives, I felt like I didn't have much of a choice. At least that's what I told myself. One more funeral to attend this afternoon then I am officially back on the wagon, full speed ahead.
