I know the feeling. I ate at Five Guys last night & felt terrible afterward. Back to eating sensible again. I also ran again Saturday. It started flurrying while I was running, so I went the fastest & hardest I had run in a long, long time. I felt fine while running but have been hurting since then.
So you guys got a little snow too. Sorry you're hurting. I didn't exercise much this weekend but will be at Zumba this afternoon as usual. What did you wind up deciding about Newport?
Nothing stuck. Kids got to play in it though, so that was good. I did buy a Zumba X-Box kinect game & I can't wait to try it out. Right now I'm just going to run on the weekends, until my knees do better with it & the time changes.
As for NFF, I'll just wait & see what happens with work. If tickets sell out & it does work out that I can go, I'll just try to buy them elsewhere (hopefully).

I've got a bad case of itchy feet
Keep me updated. There is a lot of time between now & July 26.

Lurked on this thread for a little, love it. I workout regularly all year round, however since Hangout is on my festy schedule, I am just cutting down to basics: 3 meals a day, only snacks I eat are fruit..and I try to have a banana/orange before a meal, really helps me not overeat. I don't skip breakfast anymore either, when I do that I eat a gigantic lunch. Small portions, emphasis on greens, and gym at least 3x a week, soccer on wednesdays and I climb a mountain near my house every weekend. Weights, situps and pushups in the morning and evening. I joined an intramural soccer team at my college with some friends- thats a hell of a workout even though I suck at soccer- defiantly recommend it.
Although I did indulge in some discount valentines day candies last night, but come on, a gigantic box of chocolates for $5....I am only human.
I don't pay attention to how much I weigh, just how I look.
Welcome gophish. If you decide you want to a bunch of us are on my fitness pal as well. Sounds like you're doing all the right stuff, except maybe the giant box of chocolates

katbur2 what is fitness pal? I'm guessing it's an app..but honestly I am pretty ignorant to things of that nature, keeps me life simple. I'd like some extra accountability though, and yes, the box of chocolates was probably not the best
The healthier I eat, the more I work out, the more I crave chocolate. Nothing else, no other sweets, but chocolate, its kryptonite..is anyone with me on this one? It makes no sense
Still going strong on the diet. Although I did treat my self to a can of Coke this week at SOSMP. They have a convenience store and I went to buy a 12oz can of Coke and the only can they had was a 16 oz can. They had a tall boy of Coke?! I was very excited. Here I allowed myself a treat and it is 4 more Fl ounces than I was expecting! I got half way through it before it got knocked over by the camp fire, but that was like 4 hours after I got it. My weakness is exercise, I hate it, but I know I need it. I was out of breath at AURA fest and that came from just stroking the fire, forget about dancing!
I just got my confirmation email for the Chicago marathon this October. The servers crashed and they said it'll take at least 2 days to fix before the reopen, but I got my spot!
I'm too lazy to read through the entire thread, can anybody remind me how to change the way MFP tracks carbs, calories, etc? I can't find it on the site and need to adjust the carbs waaaayyyyy down.
Favorite thread here! MFP is actually what has kicked me into gear and made me realize I can actually do 'Roo..I'm still wayyyy far from my goal, but I've lost about 30lbs and regularly do a lot of walking and weight lifting..katbur2 if you go into goals and click 'change goals' you can customize your carb, fat, protein ratios.

28 pounds down so far! Hoping to hit 50 by Roo. Isagenix is working for me Hitting the gym 3+ times a week with at least 3 weight sessions, 3 cardio workouts and 2 yoga classes. Getting fit and bendy at the same time!
Tomorrow starts my quest for fitness. A bunch of my coworkers are participating in the Rugged Maniac 5k Obstacle Race in September, and the owners of my company have decided pay for anyone that wants to do it, get us t-shirts, basically sponsor a team. I'm gonna use this as my motivation to get on the right track.
My September weight loss goal is 80lbs, and my long term weight loss goal will be a total of 150lbs. It's a lot, but I refuse to get gastric bypass surgery. I want to work it off myself. I am joining a gym, and changing my diet. Wish me luck!

Katy Mae - Good luck girl, as someone who also has a substantial amount of weight to lose I am on your team! Use all the support you can get, here, My fitness pal etc. Unfortunately it's slow going but I refuse to do surgery as well so this is the way it needs to be.
I have failed miserably at my efforts. I will do great for a week or two then just one little thing seems to derail me. I've never had this much trouble. Maybe its just because I'm overwhelmed with so much stress.
I am thinking about visiting a "Quick Weight Loss" just to give me a jumpstart.
I've not done well so far either. I think from doing this in the past, the key is partly to remember when you get derailed that a slip doesn't mean the end of it. You just accept that you didn't do great that day and you move on to the next day. Of course, it's so much easier to say that than it is to do it, and stress is indeed a huge factor.
Everybody is different in what works for them, but rather than a quick start kind of thing, I would suggest the opposite. Maybe pick one totally doable goal to start with. Like a thirty minute walk three times a week or a meatless meal once a week or no sodas. For me, if I can do that and see that it makes me feel good, it encourages me to take the next step and make a second positive change.
2 more lbs lost for a total of 8 since January 11. I guess I'm going by the saying of slow & steady wins the race. Wish it was going faster, but I'm of the mindset that this is not a diet, just getting more exercise & eating a little better. I feel I can maintain this. If I eliminated all the things I love, I doubt I could keep this up.

I used a quick fix method when I started out, medical weight loss clinic..lost 14lbs but I was so out of energy all the time. It was terrible. I quit that and just started taking things a day at a time, making sure to drink my water, trying to pick healthier food options, etc. It's a super slow process and easy to get discouraged, but remember: Slow progress is still progress.

That's what motivated me and my brother. My mom had the gastric bypass and she is so thrilled and said that eventually we should all have it. AHHHHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOO!!! He started on the Isagenix and his results convinced me to do it (He's 50 and I'm 48, not spring chickens, ya know?), He's down 40 already and I'm at almost 30. We are coaching and motivating each other and both have 50 or so to go. If we can do this, anyone can! Keep up the good work and avoid the knife

Thanks for the reality check, NBF. I need to not sweat the small stuff and rejoice in my accomplishments, however small. And by the way, I did call Quick Weight Loss...they were so pushy and obnoxious on the phone, that was the end of that before it even started. That would never do.

I swear I will not be pushy and obnoxious but give Isagenix a try. They have a 9 day quick start. I didn't do the 9 day because I started right in on the 30 day program. Not only do you lose weight but I kicked all caffeine and carbonated soda with no headaches or withdrawal symptoms. Now this is coming from someone with a 2 liter a day Diet Mountain Dew addiction before I started. You can look up their website or find it all over eBay. I can't figure out why this works but it really really does.

Yes, I am, but I am slacking on prep for that. Did I mention I HATE RUNNING! Congrats on getting your spot for the Chicago Marathon. I am going to Austin next month and Megan and I are going to do the Electric Run/walk. That will be a start. Thanks for staying on top of me for that. On another note. Chico, I thought of you yesterday. I was watching DDD on foodnetwork and Guy was at 90 Miles in Chicago. The food look really good! Have you tried it?
Gonna be off MFP for a week or so, goin on vacation...sitting at 220 right now so the goal is to come back the same!!! Good luck y'all!, keep up the good work!
This weekend sucked..Ate half a pizza on Friday, and Saturday I couldn't be moved for anything. Did a killer lifting session today, and even though weight loss for me seems to be going at a "lose 2lbs one week and then nothing for 4", I did manage to lose another inch on my waist. custeph do you do Zumba Rush or one of the others?? I am so freaking uncoordinated that I feel like I'm just hopping around like a chicken! The hubs gets a heck of a laugh watching me..haha!

Oh, my kids came out laughing when they saw me, so I yelled at them to leave the room. It was my first time trying it & I was soooo uncoordinated. It is the newest one, Zumba Fitness Core for the Kinect. It kicked my butt. My plan is to use it before I get the kids up for school. We'll see how that goes b/c I am not an early riser. I did find out my little town is starting a zumba class at the rec center, so I am going to try that too. I know I'll make a fool of myself though.

I have a method to loose weight that has always worked for me but I don't suggest it. Do a breakup with your SO. I was married for almost 20 years and after it was over, I lost about 80 lbs. Hey that's 4 lbs for every year ...... BTW, actually the reason I posted this: I have a number of relatives that live in Charlotte, not far from you. We are going to stay there for a few days because we are going to Wakarusa then Roo but there is 11 days in-between the two fests ..I live that part of the US .cr****

I havent ever tried it, but someone was talking about it a little while back. It's on the other side of the city so I dont get there nearly often enough! Maybe we'll make this a Pitchfork weekend info-outing.
