I always hijack threads, I hate rules but ok. I have a weight problem because I am 5'11 (no shoes) and weight 165. I am still fat. I don't get it..... OK toning I suppose but geez I'm getting too old for that haha .... cr****
Today is going to be my first gym workout, ever. I've starting using MyFitnessPal for calorie counting, and plan to use it for my workouts also. I won't lie that having an app that does all this for me is very helpful. My plan today is 45 minutes of walking on the treadmill, 15 minutes of elliptical, then 15 minutes of weight training. If I can do all that and not feel like death, I'm gonna be pretty happy.

Good luck Katy! Sounds like a good start for a first day. If you're at a gym they might have some free orientation and time with a trainer. I think its really worth it to take advantage of those little amenities when you're just starting.
I'm going to see what they offer. I ended up joining my local Planet Fitness, which is 24hrs, but also kinda barebones. I close my restaurant, so my usual awake times are 11am-2am. I like the ability to leave work when I still have energy, and go hit the gym.
Hovering at -18. Kind of fell off my diet and exercise routine but didn't go wild. Started a refocus today, still aiming at 195 by Wanee (-35 overall since 1/1)

I'm going to implement my 4 month (-ish shut up okay!?) Bonnaroo plan again this year. I'm a pretty skinny guy with an insane metabolism, so if I want to gain any weight and look less like a child, I need to lift insanely heavy. I'm at 175 right now and want to be at 190 for Roo. This will involve losing some fat and adding muscle. As someone who has put in gobs of research on how to manipulate ones diet in a healthy fashion, I've got some good information if any newbies have any questions.

So I ended up doing 17 minutes on a stationary bike, 30 minutes on a treadmill, and 3 different weight machines @30lbs doing 4 sets of 15 reps on each. Not everything I wanted to accomplish, but I certainly feel better knowing I did what I did.
Jogged for the first time in months yesterday. I knew it would be hard to get back into the routine, but I was surprised at just how bad I felt at first.
Then I remembered the bottle of wine I drank Saturday night.

I'm back on the wagon. The past few weeks have been hellish between work, real estate and personal life... the result is more booze and less sleep and gym than usual, and I gained two pounds. I'm on it though!! This aggression will not stand, man! On the plus side, I found some videos of myself from 2010 yesterday on YouTube and REALLY got to see what me at 50lbs heavier looked like. It was cringeworthy but helpful, because honestly I can't see it on a daily basis. So that's helping inspire me.

Just started week 3 of the insanity workout! Let me tell you its one od the hardest things ive ever done. Ive never been one to workout, always been a bigger guy. Im loving the program and the new found energy it gives me! Started out with a 44 in waist weighing in at a whopping 268 pounds. So far ive lost 2 inches on my waist and 15 pounds! Im giving it all I got, and trying to re train the way I think about food. Wish me luck! Only 6 more weeks!!

I've been lurking this thread, and I'm inspired by the progress folks are making.
Late last week I started using MFP. My username is jfurai; look me up!
It's been a while since I've updated, but for the last month+ I've been back into the diet/exercise routine. I'm down to 220lbs and my goal is to get as close to 200 as possible before Bonnaroo.
Tracking what I eat the last few days has shown me that I'm not taking in enough calories. I guess that's a good problem to have, but I need to integrate more good snacks throughout the day so my body doesn't go into panic mode, burning muscle and retaining fat. I guess this is my endorsement of MFP. Wish I'd started logging sooner, but at least I started, right?
I can't believe I missed 3 pages of this thread! So glad that we have so many on board! Katy Mae et al... WELCOME!
This is my first week off of overtime which means I have my lunch back, no more coming in early, no more bringing work home at night... Fingers crossed to get back into my gym routine that I haven't touched siiince... mid fall?
Weight update: After being up 1.2 two Fridays ago, I was down 3.8 last Friday! I don't I actually lost that much- the "gain" was a false gain. But I am happy! 17.4 to go to complete my 25 by Roo goal. This past weekend was full of booze, cheese, carbs and Fawnmart's delish lobster stuffed shrimp, so I need to make sure that I am spot on the next couple of days (eek).
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
I think I'm jadeswizzle on MFP for new people (yes, just checked). I wasn't losing foreverrrrrrr, after over a month of eating more fresh foods and exercising, now the last two weeks the scale seems a little lower everyday. I don't trust it. My clothes aren't looser. I'll keep on keeping on (RAN FIVE MINUTES STRAIGHT TONIGHT- Took eight weeks to be able to do that) and see what happens.

Got thru circuit training tonight even though I had to stay late at the day job, waited an hour for my g-d'd bus, and had 3 hours of freelance to burn thru when I got home. PRIORITIES! I AM MAKING THEM! But jeebus if I don't eat dinner soon I'munna pass out...

Haven't read through most of this thread, but any mountain bikers here? I'll be taking 70 from Columbus Oh to Denver beginning of may and would love to catch a ride with some inforoosters on the way. Might make a separate thread about it.
Anyone with great workout music? I was lifting to Jurassic 5 yesterday.
I often use this as my kickoff song in a jog. I do the same route and it starts to really hit hard as I'm crossing the Mississippi and gazing at the downtown Minneapolis skyline. I've experienced this dozens of times yet it's still wowing and gives me an energy boost whenever I use it.
Right now my exercise playlist has become a bit stale. Many of the songs I used to count on just don't do it for me anymore. I need to sit down with iTunes and figure something out.
Barely noon and I've downed a half of a Dr. Pepper 2 liter...Today is not going well at all. I am usually so good with water, and can stay away from canned soda, but bring a two liter around me and it's gone! Ugh...
