i've been eating like a jerk, but i'm back in now like never before!
haven't joined a gym since the move, but my work commute is now a mile walk with 85 steps at the end. also i shoveled all the snow on the planet this weekend.

thank you! it was, by far, the best year of my life.
we bought the national parks annual pass and did two trips. the first was in an rv with our two kitties, and we basically traversed across i-10, visited friends in tx, and then hit carlsbad, grand canyon, vegas during the first weekend of the ncaa tournament, zion national park, joshua tree, sequoia, yosemite. then we drove over to san francisco for a week, down the pch to san diego, then went back up through utah and saw bryce canyon, arches, canyonlands, and mesa verde before traipsing back via route 66. i love southern utah so much; i could totally live there if it weren't so far from everyone i love.
we only got pulled over once - for going too slow coming out of grand canyon national park, haha. our rv was pretty underpowered when it came to anything steep, so we spent a lot of time moving to the right and waving people around.
we spent the summer in wv with our nieces, and then did a second trip in september. on that one, we took a minivan with a mattress in the back and basic camping stuff and did a northern loop: badlands, mt. rushmore, custer state park, grand teton, yellowstone, glacier national park (gf's favorite place), columbia river gorge area, drove up to vancouver, came back down and did mt. rainier, mt. hood, mt. st. helens, portland, redwoods, and then back to zion national park for our anniversary, and up to garden of the gods and rocky mountain national park before heading back to wv, where we're currently attempting responsible adulthood again.
it was the best decision we've ever made. we did so many beautiful hikes, and just really enjoyed how amazing and diversely beautiful this country is, and there's still so much we didn't even get to! we're going to start saving again and hope to do something similar in the next five years. we had originally planned to do a europe trip as part of this year, but we both ended up being pretty travel weary by the end of each trip and decided that we should save europe for a time when we are better prepared and fresher.
I think I post in the thread about once every 12 months or so, but I'm back! And back on the weightless train. I gained a lot the last 3 years, and I really need to take it back off. Have Roo looming is a great incentive, though. Knowing how much that extra 30 lbs will affect my comfort in Roo heat, has me finally getting serious.
So I just finished the 21 day sugar detox (which is amazing) and am now going basic low-carb with yoga/hooping combo schedule. Down 5 lbs so far and am on track to meet my goal by mid May. I found an app that is really helpful, too - Happy Scale. It keeps track of your trends and gives you a timeline to meet your goal and any mini-goals you set up.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
bonzai if I can manage to conquer the odds and make it, and if custeph can make it after giving away an organ, then what is preventing you from making it to the farm?

I work in Alumni Relations and it's Reunion weekend. It's like being a football coach and asking off for the Super Bowl. I can hope that my boss will feel pity at some point, but that's about it.

Finally getting back into working out after about 4 months off and gaining weight. 2 weeks of Piyo and not drinking as much = 10lbs down. I can't believe I stopped doing this program because it was too easy for me. I feel like I'm dying. Hope to get back to light jogging soon.
I need to get back on a healthy living clean eating regimen. I have just been so depressed that motivation is nonexistent.
Ive had this problem myself. I think I am coming around, things are feeling more manageable (got that seasonal depression) and I look to get serious on the healthy lifestyle front.
I wish you luck in your endeavors and just know that if you stay persistent you can break the funk!

I've been tracking everything in myfitnesspal since mid Jan, and staying under 1200 calories most of the time.
I'm eating pretty healthy (which is normal for me) but reduced portions and snacking a lot.... I've also cut out a lot of sugar, which is killing me!! I've been trying to get on the elliptical or walk for at least 15 minutes each day. I've lost a few pounds, and overall I feel trimmer and my clothes are fitting better already.
I really need to lose another 12 lbs or so. I say this every year - sigh I am pretty disgusted at my body right now, but I have the incentives of going to Utah (and hiking a lot and not wanting to feel out of shape), Shaky Knees, Bonnaroo and the beach in July, so I NEED to get my ass in gear!!!

You can do it brunch friend! I am also doing fitness pal to hit my goal to losing 22 lbs before Roo. 6 down and 16 to go. Damn app limits me to 1300 calories a day but 35 minutes at a decent pace on treadmill while researching Roo lineup adds about 300 calories back on. It's a process. There are plenty of healthy foods I enjoy but damn you beer. Damn you.
Yes we can do it!!! My biggest problem is wine....Eating well isn't too hard. I love to drink wine and then I want snacks.... I've been drinking bourbon instead, and I don't get snacky with it, but I don't enjoy it as much as wine We have some decent weather this week, so we are walking with the dogs, which is better than being bored on the elliptical!

You know that I also love my wine, but I have switched to vodka 90%+ of the time for this reason. It has been a few years since I have made the switch and yeah- liquor just isn't wine It doesn't make me as happy!

My walking buddy, an 11 year old retriever, is recovering from a torn ACL. It's a lonely fitness world out there. Inforoo to the rescue.
You could add another dog to your family!! I know of a few up for adoption....
I have my choice of 6 dogs to walk with (although 2 are too old to really go). I take the youngest ones if I want to walk really fast, and I take the 10 year olds if I want to go slower.....

Wow. Great job on making such an incredible trip happen. That's badass. I got a National Parks pass for Xmas and have been trying to figure out where to go with it. I can't do anything quite as epic as this but it's cool to see your routing and all the places you were able to hit. Definitely just gave me some ideas so thank you. If you make it back to the PNW make sure to hit up Crater Lake in southern Oregon. The park is magnificent and the lake might be the prettiest thing I've ever seen.

We actually spent a day at Crater Lake! I just forgot to include it. We couldn't camp bc there was this huge mountain biking thing going on at the time, but we did a fantastic hike and spend a bit on the patio outside the restaurant admiring the view.
National Parks pass is a great Xmas present! What area(s) of the US are most convenient for you? Feel free to hit me up if you have any questions, or just to rub whatever you end up doing in my face!

I'll probably focus on the west coast and maybe the Southwest. I'm free to roll wherever but those places interest me the most. I was just looking over your itinerary once again and there are so many ways I could do it. Once I get a better idea I may hit you up for a few recommendations on hikes and stuff to see. Either way, this is definitely inspiring.
roughly fifteen weeks to prepare myself to go full beyoncé bodysuit. also, yesterday i went to just about the hardest yoga class i've ever done and my body is not happy about it today.

Went past my body weight for squats, so killing that. Tone is coming in nicely on my muscles, so should be looking good for Movement and Pitchfork.
Swam for the first time last week even though the water was freezing. Not really rusty at all, and managed to swim 10 laps in 20 minutes before escaping the icy water. It's cold again in the 'ville, so hoping to hit the pool hard once it warms up in a week. Trying to get my endurance back up for Miami Music Week.
