Love the Reboot. A few days of juicing and I completely changed the way I eat overall and have lost some weight. I have also gained a TON of energy. I'm bouncing off the damn walls when before I could barely get out of bed. My goal is to at some point this year (don't care if it's frickin November) wear a bikini in public and not on a dare.
Might pop in here a little more often for some much needed inspiration!
I have majorly cut back on the starchy, simple carbs and it's AMAZING what it has done for energy!! I used to be SO tired after I ate a meal and now I'm always ready to go!
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Well I am finally feeling better after being sick on and off for over a month and I lost 3 lbs without even trying! I am going to start on my elliptical on Monday and try to do 3-4 times a week on it.
the gym I work out at during the week has a pool, so I'm swimming laps before work most mornings. I bought goggles and a cap and I'm ready to go! Up to being able to do 1/4 mile. Do need to work in a couple days weight training at least...I just love the pool so much. weekends I'm doing cardio/weights, kickboxing, yoga and/or hiking.
Starting now at 235lbs and a big belly, lets see what happens by June.
Start with lifting weights 3 days a week. Running on rest days and eat at a 500 calorie deficit. You'll notice results soon enough.
Thanks! I have just recently cut out soda, although I broke down and had one tonight, and I can tell a difference from just that. Bread is another weakness of mine and I am cutting that back along with rice, pasta, and potatoes. Exercise is my weakness. I hate it! but I know I need to work the Cardio, especially if I am going to see Day shows and then make it to night shows at Roo.
Cutting out the soda is so hard for me too but helps so much. My slash of cherry dr. pepper is almost gone (down to 4 cans I believe) so I will be back on the wagon in 4 days. As for meals, I do better eating a nice breakfast & lunch then eating a very light supper. I never can stick with traditional diets, so this has worked for me in the past.
I've started back walking 3 miles & getting on the elliptical almost every day. Got a messed up back, so running is over for me. I'm hoping to lose at least 15 lbs before Bonnaroo. Like the little engine, I think I can, I think I can...

I never drink soda so it's always helped. Only when I'm indulging. Cardio is essential so find something you like doing. I play basketball after lifting to get a good sweat going. Swimming is great, men's league hockey. I don't know whatever makes running around more fun.
Bread is my enemy and I can't escape. So I adapt and eat less throughout the day.
Playing soccer is really good cardio, you can play different parts of the field depending on your fitness level so even totally out of shape people can get out there. Just don't go for a casual/friendly league.
I eat no simple carbs during the day and then allow myself a little bread/ rice whatever with dinner. It allows me to still have/ look forward to it, while majorly cutting down my intake. Unless I am going out for thai or something, I find that I crave it less and less. The last time that I had bread/pasta/rice?? Ummm... Probably Sunday.

I played competitively for nearly 11 years. I miss it a lot. And I certainly miss that definition in my legs!
I was 260 lbs last Monday before I started excercising. I picked to do P90x because it ends the week before Roo! Already lost 5 lbs, and notice a definite change.
I was sick of not wearing certain clothes I use to like because I was embarrassed.
I was pretty proud of my drunken eating on Friday. I went to happy hour and after a few glasses of wine, I realized that I was starving. I was at a really good burger place with tons of delish options, but drunken Bonnie ordered a spinach salad without the dressing. Granted, I LOVE spinach salads (no really... I am becoming addicted), but drunken Bonnie usually goes for the really bad stuff.. so I am proud! (and then like two hours later I was posting on Inforoo, but don't particularly remember it. NBD)

My friend did a diet like this kinda. It was eat 0 carbs all day except for 1 hour a day and you could have whatever (aside from drinks). She said it basically worked because how many carbs can you possibly eat in an hour. After 1 bowl of pasta with bread she was full and her hour was up by the time she could eat more.

Roo is great motivation to work out. I want to be able to do Sunday better than I have any of the previous years, don't want to miss a show because I'm too tired to walk to Centeroo. I'm 6'4" and about 250 been working out the last two weeks and it's hard when you have a desk job. I average about 1.5 meals of fast food/day but eliminated all fast food and soda from my diet. I ordered P90x and it came in the mail today. 92 days to Roo makes this seem almost perfect. Good luck to everyone on their quest.
See my post above. I felt the same way and got the same system. Fire me a PM if you ever need moral support. As I said above, I started at 260, but I am only 6'. Fast food is out, soda is out.
The only thing I couldn't cut was drinking because, well, thats what I do best and it helps to ease the pain. Plus, I consider building a tolerance and drinking as training for Bonnaroo anyways!
Good Luck, and as I said, fire me a PM if you need support or feel like quitting!
I'll come back later tonight and put in some more detailed info from a few articles I've been reading about carbs and protein and how your exercise changes how your body breaks it all down. It's super interesting and detailed enough to give suggestions on how to manage your diet.
Dont get discouraged if you miss a day or two in a row or if you get sick and miss a week. The more important thing is to get back into it and if it was a sickness take your time. Dont kill yourself when your body's been using all the nutrients to fight off the illness.
I think the week after next we'll take a new body fat % measurement for me. It's been about 10 weeks. I'm hoping for some good progress!
And I dont have to type stuff in. I found the article online. It's got some interesting things to say about how structuring your workout using intervals will hit fat where others might not do so well.

Is that article worth while for a female to read, or do you think it's only good for the guys? I have only read the first page at this point. This is something my WW leader was talking about recently:
"The food you eat becomes progressively less appetizing. No matter how good the first few bites of that steak might be, by the end you're just going through the motions."
She was saying that all you really remember are the first and last bites. If you are splurging on something and at the third bite (or whatever the bite may be), you aren't still saying, "OH MY GOD THIS IS HITTING THE SPOT." Then stop eating it. If you aren't actively enjoying the splurge, don't do it. 2-3 bites of these items usually suffice.

Bonzai - that is what MY WW leader said when I was doing it too. Law of diminishing returns, really.
Also, WATER WATER WATER. seriously. if you're trying to lose weight, and your actively working out, you should be drinking more water than the standard 8 8-oz servings. Currently, Im getting through 2 L-nalgenes a day. I wanna hit 3. It's kinda tough! you have to be drinking constantly. But it's so good for you. And my skin is lovely!
Good job everyone on keeping it up!!! 13 weeks to go!!!

I think it's worthwhile. There's a lot of good information about how your body handles carbs and proteins. It discusses what types of exercise break down certain energy sources.
Some articles are very men specific, but this one isnt overly so.
Awesome article! Definitely going to chane what i eat and when i eat probably. Thanks a lot.
i am glad i am no thte only one doing p90 here. Now there are two others!!! Keep it up viking and billybroo! Trust me it is worth every penny, and more. I did it before about 2 years ago and ended up losing 35 pounds! Again if you two need more motivation besides each other let me know. As corney as Tony Horton is, it is better having people to work out with and talk to about what you are doing!

I have TOTALLY upped my water. Some days are better than others, but in general, I am up. I play games with myself! I get into my car with a full bottle. (No idea the oz. It's not a Nalgene, but it's no 8 or 12 oz either). I make myself finish the whole bottle before I get to work. Then, I allow myself to start my coffee. Then I try to finish another water before lunch... and so on.

I'm just really happy that I had been on this juice thing before I got the flu! Just kept myself hydrated and kept juicing and I'm bouncing back a lot faster than I normally do! Good thing is that I've also lost some weight. Maybe when I get my lungs back, I can start exercising more earnestly and see about being in bikini shape in time for Roo! (Or at least tankini shape...)
If any of you Nashville inforoosters are interested, I usually bike 10-15 miles every weekend over at Shelby Bottoms Greenway close to downtown. I'm always solo as I cant find anyone else with a bike willing to go with me.
But seriously, that's a fantastic plan. I try to do the same thing - but now I will think of it as a 'game', instead of a 'plan' and maybe i'll drink even more. hmmm, what should my prize be if I get through 3 bottles.... 2 less minutes on the daily run!
