^^04' was just wet. 05' was wet. 06' & 07' were dry. And as Creep said ... It rained last year. 04' was the worst though but so much fun. I'm curious to see if it rained in 02' or 03?
It rained a little in '02 and '03. Just some showers, not unlike '08. '04 was the monsoon year (mudpit and delayed shows). '05 was kind of overcast/drizzily all weekend. IMHO '07 was worst. I was praying for rain to dampen down the dust.
It rains some just about every year. The heat and humidity almost guarantee it. So a cheap poncho (or garbage bag with arm holes) is not a bad idea. And make sure and waterproof your tent.

Remember in '05, the remnants of Hurricane Arlene hit us... Friday night it started raining and it never really stopped until Monday morning. I was freezing that whole weekend.

in a perfect situation, there'll be plenty of rain in the spring, so there's no crazy dust, but then there's partly cloudy, breezy weather during roo weekend. in a realistic situation, '08 wasn't bad. i had fun dancing in the rain late night friday.

Think about it this way. Bonnaroo is in TN during a 4 day stretch in June. Barring a drought, chances are it's going to rain at least one of those days.
A little bit of rain is good. If you set your camp up right, there's no need to worry about it. You will welcome it. Just bring a lightweight hooded raincoat and you'll be fine.
A lot of rain is bad. But supposedly Superfly has worked on grading the runoffs of the land in the past few years to prevent the mudpits made famous during the 04 monsoon.
BTW, setting up your camp right means NOT putting down massive tarps as floors. It'll just collect rain and funnel it down grade, most likely under your tent. I can't believe how many people I saw last year who set their tents on top of tarps that were larger than their tent.
One group next to me had a massive tarp covering their entire campground with three or four tents setup on top of it. Come Saturday morning they were living in a swamp, with no easy way to pull up the tarp.
A tent footprint is a great idea, but make sure no edges are sticking out to collect water, or you will find yourself sleeping in a puddle.

Last year was best for me (went '05-'08). Overcast and cloudy most the time (til sunday) which made it cooler and less sun beating down. Sure it rained saturday night (some during metallica......stopped for a bit then MMJ brought it back during their set. oddly enough - rain stopped during their set break but came right back when they did).
'05 sucked cuz of the mud. made walking harder....and having wet clothes on you sucks. I had to buy a sweatshirt just to have dry warm clothes. wasn't there in '04 but heard it was crazy bad.
rain is hit or miss.........though weeks leading to the festival someone keeps track of predicted forecasts and updates it on this forum. that helped and last year seemed pretty much on the money
2005 was the best - it was overcast all weekend, and a little drizzly, but very bearable. It wasn't hot, and that was the key. It remains the only Bonnaroo where I could sleep as late as I wanted in the morning without roasting in the tent. For that reason, it was the most enjoyable.
I agree 2005 weather was the best. 2007 worst, with no rain at all and all the dust!!
I like rain as long as it is not all night, it puts a damper on things at night when it rains for a long time and it gets chilly. Rain during the day is great though.
'07 was the only time I had to leave early. The dust was so bad I couldn't breathe or even talk on Sunday. Left after White Stripes. Coughed up dust for a week.
Don't know where I got this pic (I didn't take it) but this is a decent example of the average 24/7 dustiness. At the shows it was much worse.
Hey troo - there is an awesome pic of the dust that I took on the Inforoo facebook page. I agree with you - I would rather have some mud then the dust. That dust was BAD.
I would post the pic here but cannot access FB from work.

I remember that photos at night in '07 would look like it was snowing hard as the flash reflected all the dust. (Can't find a good example but it was cool.)
It rained all of about five minutes during Kings of Leon on Friday(?) afternoon in '07. It was glorious.
I was at Brazilian Girls. A storm threatened, dropped a bolt or two of lightning and some sprinkles, and passed. People were warned to stay off the bleachers in case of lightning strikes. So, in the driest year imaginable, '07, there was a raindrop or two.
