*I haven't seen a thread like this at all so I thought that anyone with questions about cooking or food prep etc could ask and answer here
Also share your ideas if you have any
I want to buy a little Coleman propane grill, if I used it for an hour each of the days there (4 hours) how much propane would I need for a 10,000. I have no idea what BTU's or any of that stuff is.

I usually just save space and bring money to buy most of my food in centeroo. Usually a few nights before camping partners and myself make a run to Sam's for water, gatorade, and camp snacks. Personally I prefer pbj's, cheezits, usually just some munchies for camp and the real nourishment comes from the plethora of festie goodness (fried snickers anyone OM NOM NOM).

Yeah I got a greek gyro last year, and I'm not a big fan of tomato chunks and onions in my food, but they piled some kind of greek shit on top and I just them have at it. It was freakin delicious. Not to mention the nacho cheese burgers... Oh lawd!
meh - don't look at it that way - just look at it like this - I am a post whore - I have been on Inforoo for almost 3 years now - I just know that there are always other threads that have been posted
besides tara22 pm'd me about 2 weeks ago asking if I knew of any threads about food and cooking - all I did was basically copy and paste my response to her
I spent waaaay to much money on food in the festival, I rather put that cash into kabobs, fajitas and everything omlettes
I think I spent about 100 on gyros alone, 2-3 a day
see I guess my thing is - I spend the rest of the year cooking for the family - I have no desire to cook at Bonanroo - it is HOT and the last thing I want to do is deal with a grill and the added heat

No i know what youre saying, i get a kick out of it when you post links to old threads, its nice to keep stuff organized around here and it's somewhat of a pet peeve of mine too.

Don't take this the wrong way, BUT YOU'RE RUINING THE BURGER!!! That's a pet peeve of mine; freezing fresh meat and then precooking it just to cool reheat later. Just get your grill nice and hot, and throw on some fresh hand formed patties. 20min later you have a nice fresh juicy burger. I can see how that would be difficult at Roo, though.

I used to work at a restaurant where we would prep frozen patties that had been in the freezer for days, and then let them sit on the hot table all day in a pan of water. I felt so bad whenever someone would order one. Overcooked and water soaked.

gross... anyways.. i was snacking earlier and thought about the BEST bonnasnack!
i'm gonna get a bunch of celery, and a jar of peanut butter! perfect snack, keep the celery in the cooler, pre cut, and in a big ziploc bag, scoop PB with the celery, have a bag of pretzels too, and you've got all the food groups!
also i'm gonna bring a big bag of baby carrots, some bagels, and beef jerky
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
Nothing at all to do with this thread, but Creep, did you know if you look at your sig image like it's a Magic Eye thingy, the faces pop up off the background and have more depth overall? Now I can't stop doing it.
To add something that is related to this thread: I don't cook at 'Roo. I'm one of those people that will definitely burn something down if I try. I stick to bringing things that are hard to come by there, like fresh fruit, frozen grapes, and the like. Grab one out of the cooler, and it's soooooooooo good in the heat.

Amen!!! Every year we bring stuff to cook (well, for me to cook ) and every year we waste a lot of food. I am putting my foot down this year; I'm only packing coldcuts, bread, cheese and chips. Everything else can be bought from a vendor. Besides, it's just waaay too hot to eat a bunch.
We're just planning a nice dinner for Thursday night. Steaks, corn, burgers, etc. We thought it would be like our welcome to Roo/campwarming dinner party.

Still no one has answered this, karma to whoever can help me out

Boz said one small green canister from Wal-mart should do you!

and I hope you're my neighbor lol
haha if you are my neighbor you are more than welcome. I hope people will stop by and hang out, enjoy some food, haha just have a grand time.
I plan on cooking on one of these. It's got a fold out skillet so I'll be making some pork-roll (mmm...gotta love NJ) egg and cheese sandwiches in the morning as well as burgers and hot dogs and any other type of meat. I'll definitely be sharing with the neighbors as well.
As to the person asking about the camping stove and propane, that grill goes through a small canister of propane in about 5 hours of constant running. You definitely will only need 1 canister if you're only cooking for an hour a day on a small stove. Should run you about 3 bucks from target/walmart or any sporting goods or hardware store.

10,000 btu's is a pretty mild burner. I use a 50,000 btu burner for my homebrewing set-up. A tank lasts for a pretty long time. I'd still recommend bringing down a propane tank. Nothing is worse than running out of propane while food is on the grill.
You can just get the screw in canisters if you don't want to lug around a tank at the 'roo. One of those little tanks should last 2 hours with a 10,000 btu burner. They are cheap, too. Only about 10 bucks I beleive.
