We're waiting on a formality for JBprez to make his vote and get on with it. I'm allowed to comment in the thread. I think we should leave the vote where it is, or give the townspeople one more chance to change and then end it.

Two pages to catch up on and I was gone less than 24 hours.
And yes, if the Nurse is still alive [unlikely] and this round doesn't end the game-- protect me. I'll kill Steve off for lying and we'll all be good to go!
[edit] Although, I do hope this round ends the game. My poor brain won't be able to handle much more confusion,

I checked this thread about 12 hours ago. I can't believe the vote is not over. I had to drive to NJ for a meeting at noon, then home, ate dinner, read a book, took a nap, made a second dinner and I'm sitting here eating it now just shaking my head. Lazy slacker hippies that's the problem here.
I think it is funny how everyone is so open about their role. you guys rock (i think).
At this point in the game, I don't think it matters if I tell my role or not. The game will be over soon and I think if mafia still exist, other than bluecadet-- they were out to get me before the role became obvious.
I tried to hint earlier in the game I was, but everyone thought I was mafia. :[
My hands are tied unless one of the following three situations occurs. I cannot close voting until: 1. JPbrez comes to vote, which is unable to change the majority consensus favoring BlueCadet. 2. 3 players change their vote to JPbrez in the current round without a second-place player having two votes - this would give him an insurmountable lead with his vote unable to force a tie-breaker. 3. All 4 players who have voted with the majority this round state that they are sticking with their current vote. I refuse to confirm a partial vote without having 50% + 1 of players (in this case, four) explicitly seconding their current vote.
I vote to close the voting now and go from there. I have a suspicion that the game will end when the voting is closed. JPbrez's vote is irrelevant now.

kdogg changed his post, so I'll change mine and vote to close the vote now. But for the record, here's what else I wrote, for everyone's future consideration:
I'd like to offer an official addendum to the rules. If any player is absent from the game for more than two (2) days, they are officially removed from the game. This act does not count as any kind of "kill", or affect the play of the game in any way, with the exception that voting rounds will stand as they are and be done without that player. Any votes that player might have received must be re-cast for a different player. If the player had any kind of special role, that role does not get refilled by any other player.

Perhaps we could give future absentee players one vote against them (not taken from other players) for every 24 hours of going AWOL? I think that would let the problem correct itself.

^^^Hmm, I could see lots of potential complications arising from that. I think that so long as people know about the above rule when they sign up, that they need to stay active in the game or they'll be removed, that should be enough.
If a player's absence goes on long enough, they would essentially vote themselves off. Maybe this could be an increasingly punitive rule... one automatic vote against AWOLers for first 24 hours absent, add two more votes after 48 hours, add three more votes after 72 hours...
Even if that didn't happen, it would give active players an incentive to vote for the AWOL player if they wanted things to wrap up sooner.

Well let's say that happens in round 1 of a game with 13 players. It would likely take several days for that person to vote themselves off. Also if others wanted to vote for the AWOL player, that means they'd have to compromise on their true suspicions and motives within the game. Finally, if someone is that absent from the game they probably aren't a threat (read: they weren't given a special role). I think if a Day vote is forced upon an AWOL player it benefits the Mafia because then a (likely) innocent player is killed, then the following night the Mafia get to kill another innocent person. If the AWOL player is just removed from the game, then the rest of the players still get a chance to choose who they really want to see go.
But I'm glad we agree that a change to the rules should be made!
Again I have issues with doing that leading to a round with an even number of players... especially if future games are going to go the standard route, with 11 players including 3 mafia and an Inspector. There would be no Nurse or Vigilante in those games to be able to potentially counter an even-numbered configuration. I think that comes with complications of its own.
Also, if players change their existing votes to vote for an AWOL player... their initial suspicion is still on the record for future reference.
I know it's not fair for the Townspeople to do it... but I also know I was howling mad last game when I was Mafia & it was suggested that the Mafia should have to take out Mike when he was AWOL.

I like this rule. The other way is too complicated. It doesn't make sense to have to vote within the game to get rid of somebody who's missing when we as rational human beings can say "we've been waiting for 2 day, remove them," then continue the game as normal.
This case is a perfect example. Why waste a day to vote off JBPrez, when everyone assumes he's not in an important roll (and everyone voted for BlueCadet and JBP's vote being just a formality)? Just removing him is much more efficient.
I know it's not fair for the Townspeople to do it... but I also know I was howling mad last game when I was Mafia & it was suggested that the Mafia should have to take out Mike when he was AWOL.
Precisely why I don't think it should be the job of any players to get rid of an AWOL player. I think the Mayor should be the one to say, "XXXX hasn't played in two days, so they are officially removed from this game." Then things go on as before, but without that deadweight.
If your main concern is getting stuck in an even-numbered round with the attached possibility of a hung jury, I already think that problem requires its own rule to determine what happens in that event. Not sure what that rule should be, but we need one regardless of the current rule being debated.

^ How about one person is designated odd, the other even. They both pm the referee a number. If those numbers added together equal an odd number, that person stays.
