311 just got way more likely as an addition! AC Entertainment just announced a Knoxville show in April. I don't know when the last time 311 played K-town, but it has been looonng time. AC probably signed them up for Bonnaroo and talked them into playing Knoxville as well. concertwire.com/musicnews/5029/friday-13th-on-sales/

311 have announced dates for their spring tour, in conjunction with the release of their ninth album, Uplifter. Due out in late spring, Uplifter, produced by Bob Rock, will feature 11 or 12 new songs. "What does the album sound like? The title really fits the uplifting nature of the new music," said 311 frontman, Nick Hexum. "To me, the music is positive and fun. It reflects the mind state we were in when we made it. We were in a good place. There are themes of personal struggle in the songs, but as always with 311, there is a resolution." The tour is set to embark on April 15 in Tucson, AZ, and will be followed by the Summer Unity Tour, set to kick off in early June.
I've never really gotten 311. They always came off to me as modern rock band trying to be a reggae band. However, it seems like it'd make a bunch of people happy if they were there. And there's only at least four other stages I can find to amuse myself with
THATS THE SPIRIT! now go spread that spirit among the phish haters who wont be quiet!
personally i would LOVE to see 311 at the roo. great times!

I've loved three eleven for most of my life! I've listened to them since the Blue Album cuz my big bro got me into them when I was waay young.
I saw them with Snoop in Philly last summer and it was a great show! I'd be ecstatic to see them again at Bonnaroo, though I'll definitely catch them in Philly this summer too.

But if they signed on to Bonnaroo, wouldn't it make more sense for them to play in Knoxville early June, and not April?
I'd love to see them at Roo, don't get me wrong. I'm always up for Amber being the color of my energy.

I saw 311 in Austin after Music came out. Long time ago, but it was a great show. Would like to see them again if nothing else for the 'I'm old' factor.
yeah happy 311 day. And yes-- it looks possible we finally might see the boys on the farm. As noted elsewhere, they have a conspicuous TBA on the saturday of 'roo..
not that I dont like 311 but I would rather superfly spend the money elsewhere, like on the disco biscuits.
Yeah, 311 are okay but there are much better choices. They probably want a decent chunk of cash.
Also, I wonder if them playing at the Beale St. Music Festival in Memphis makes them a no-go at Roo? I know Snoop and Ben Harper are doing both though...
has anyone here ever been to 311 day. a friend of mine went to it last year and i have the dvd from 2004. i suggest watching it if you never have because its awesome. oh and listen to lots of 311 today!

Bonnaroo is not really between Red Rocks and Chicago.

I think argument that Bonnaroo is not between Colorado and Chicago is kind of pointless...bands don't always go in a straight line. Remember, they have money...it wouldn't be hard to fly to Bonnaroo for a one-off show. I think the whole "they won't be there because they're far away before and after" was disproven after everyone said there was no way Bruce Springsteen would be play as he'd be in Europe before and after...I think Europes a much greater distance than Colorado.
Plus, 311's may run goes Texas, Missouri...California, that's a pretty big distance. Also, I'm net even seeing this Chicago show, their web site has them playing Colorado the 12th, then TBAs on the 13th and 14th, and then Cleveland, Ohio which is closer to Tennessee than Colorado...seems likely to me.

It only seems likely because you want it to be likely. If you look at their schedule, they always take a day off between time zones. Further, they've already scheduled not one but two dates in Tennessee and will have toured the southern region already by the time Roo comes around.
There is ZERO evidence from their schedule that they're going to go way out of their way to play a festival show where the demand, frankly, isn't there.
I'm just saying to be too quick to write them off because of the tour schedule. Bands have a way of getting around it as we saw with Bruce Springsteen.

Bringing up acts like Springsteen or Metallica and Kanye in 08 or The Police in 07 is pointless because those are acts with massive resources at their disposal that 311 does not have.
If they do happen to be added for Saturday, looks like we could count on Ziggy Marley as an addition as well since he's the opening act around those dates
