Howdy...
So a lot of people are using twitter now, and I think it would be cool if rather than just following one source for information, we came up with a hashtag so we can share information amongst each other at the show.
What kind of information would we be sharing? If you are referring to a twitter set up to help people find shakedown st. I think this is a horrible idea.That kind of information could be used for good or bad. I'm sure The authorities read this message board, to have that kind of information available to anyone with an internet connection is about the same as painting a target on any Vendors back at this years Roo.
meet up at Bonnaroo is always easy - at any show - go to the left of soundboard - there will - more then likely - always be someone from Inforoo left of soundboard

best uses of twitter at roo I can think of:
- alerting people to when a special guest comes out at a certain show - giving info before and during the superjam (assuming it's unannounced who will play) - announce where to meet if inforoo member
there's different things that could be thought of.......it could work.

It would be a cool idea if something cools happening at a show. Like say there is a guest artist on stage, or someone's having a great set and the set you're at is lacking, It would be cool to be get real time updates from around the festival. I don't how it would work logistically.

people do and there are tons that twitter while there - I actually had to turn a couple of people off because they were twittering so much and running my phone down

wild, I barely check my phone at roo, just to meet up with people really, I've actually never been to the twitter site so I guess I'm a little out of the loop on this one.

I mean.... it would work in theory - but I have no idea how well the cell phone network will hold up. With so many iPhones and whatnot out there now, I would assume it could be pretty overloaded.
There is an inforoo twitter already.... it's the reason I signed up last year! I'm not sure who ran it though...
I think it's a good idea in theory (otherwise I wouldn't have signed up for it last year) but once you get there, good ideas and theories sorta go out the window and you just go with the flow. I'm not sure I'd leave a show just because another artist on the other side of Centeroo had a special guest appear on stage... but that's just me

No, you see the idea is to NOT have to rely on one source for information. If in each twitter message you include "#inforoo' - all you have to do is search for '#inforoo' and you will be able to see what everyone is talking about, rather than having to rely on one central source.

I completely agree that this and many other messageboards are often times monitored. But to think that police would be using Twitter at Bonnaroo to find shakedown is tooooooooo hilariously ridicdonkulous.
funny you should say this. ive used twitter for the better part of to years now and still never messed with hashtags. sounds like the perfect opportunity to start. i use metropcs and they disallow txt to/from 5dig numbers (why??) but i log in via phone web browser and check pretty frequently. not as cool as getting a txt per tweet but whatev.
ok just did ne to test and when i searched for the tag, i found my tweet and someone else's. I'm assuming it was someone from here??
ok spoke too soon. manchester is out of area for me so i will have talk and text but probably no web. booo! oh well, i am so connected all the time it might be nice to unplug. sort of.
nerd mission complete. thanks for the motivation ;-) now able to tweet via txt after artfully circumventing the system (pic msg to twittermail). not sure how fast i will get incoming tweets but i can at least update out! yay.
I like to keep my tech use to a minimum while I'm at a fest. I sit at a computer with my ear attached to a phone everyday. The only time I even check my phone is to call the kids once a day.
