I grew up in Bristol,TN and was introduced to Pal's at a very young age and let me tell ya.....it is not to be missed! The burgers are absoutely stellar, sweet tea is $1 and a massive cup of deliciousness, and the fries are fine as well. Obviously Chick-Fil-A is a staple of any "southern" diet as well as the obligatory drunken romp through the local Waffle House. I literally think that one could write a NY Times bestseller by simply posting up at Waffle Houses around the country and chroniciling they're time. The absolute stunning variety of people that frequent that resteraunt is reason enough for a trip.

If you want good BBQ near the Elizabethton,TN area you gotta hit up Ridgewood BBQ. It's been named as a top 5 BBQ joints in the country by Southern Living so you know it's gotta be good and it is.

I just remembered about Lupi's Pizza in Chattanooga. It's good stuff. They've had to close for the Bonnaroo weekend before though b/c everyone except the owner went to the Roo.
