I normally go VIP but this year funds were more then tight. I am making it VIP on my own. Borrowed a pop up camper and generator. I also got a shower / potty tent and bought a potty that should be good for 4 people for 5 days.
Trial run this Sat. I wasn't considering putting a tarp under my tent but people have been worrying me lately about possible hard rain at 'Roo. I experienced the dust bowl of '07, so rain wasn't an issue. How bad would it make the tent floor if no tarp was under it?

^^ It depends on your tent floor. Mine is as thick as a tarp, but I'm using one as a foot print for good measure.
We did our trial run last night and then got a huge rain. Tent was completely dry this am. I can't say the same for under the ezup. I thought they'd be water proof. May have to put a tarp over the top of the EZ UP.

Set these two up, right before 3 days of rain... Tent holds up great, but the First-Up seems to be leaking on the seams, but nothing SERIOUS! I haven't done GA before, is this going to fit? Could I possibly have the shade tent in front of the tent?
I was lying in a burned out basement With the full moon in my eyes. I was hoping for replacement When the sun burst thru the sky. There was a band playing in my head And I felt like getting high.
^ My dad just got a First-up for our recent camping trip, and it rained, and the seals did leak a little also, must just be the brand. Just pick up some seam sealer from walmart and you'll be fine. Otherwise, that set up looks perfectly fine

I put up our $50 Ozark Trail EZ-up from Walmart this morning. It went up pretty easy (with 4 of us.....) and seems pretty sturdy. I am happy. I am going to be attaching tapestries for extra shade.
I am buying tent sealer and waterproofing today and will do the tent tomorrow.
For everyone buying seam sealer, I talked to a good old country boy from the nc mountains in walmart for a while about this and he told me the one that comes in the spray bottle, that looks like spray paint, actually works better than the little tubes you get. Take it for what its worth but i trusted him. Just did my set up and seam sealing on my tent today. I've had an EZ-Up for 3 years now and its never leaked, figure i may as well seam seal it tomorrow. Thanks for the tips on how to hang sheets and tapestries as well! These things are huge for blocking out early morning sun.
Sitting out back in our camp chairs with msmolly and our pup listening to music and waiting for our tents seam sealer and water repellent to dry. If only we could take our dog, this would be a nice 'roo re-enactment.

we couldn't figure out how to set up our shade canopy, although we only tried once, it was hot as hell so we decided we'll just figure it out when we get there.
the problem came when we tried to put the support poles in, we can't keep it standing up

What kind of canopy do you have? Do you need to tie out guy lines? You should def have an idea of how to put it up, but I'm sure your neighbors would be willing to help.

I'm definitely glad i did the test run Saturday. My fiance and I were having a hard time putting up our tent, its been 2 years since the last time it was assembled and it turned out we were using the poles from our shade tent and had no idea where the actual tent poles were located.
After rummaging around my apt i finally found them. We were talking about how it was only the test run and if this would've happened at 'Roo we would've had to sleep in our shade tent until we could get out to go to Walmart and buy a new one

In a regular GA spot(no neighbor collaboration or tent only), this is probably too big... Is that a three room tent? If so, our neighbors in GA brought a three room and where only able to set up 2 rooms because that's all that fit at all.

I am really scared now that my tent won't fit in GA... It's 12x8.5 and I have an ez-up thats 10x10... I am going down with my gf, and my friend and his wife. Two cars, and he has a tent that's roughly 6X8. So if we park next to each other, and make wide turns, are we going to be ok? We should be all set right? Ahhh I don't want to have to buy another tent...

You can always pull the EZ Up over part of the tent if you find you don't have enough space, I think.
And to whomever posed the question about our tent size, we're in VIP and had more than enough room for a big car, that tent and an EZ Up. If we were going GA, I'd bring a much smaller tent.

I've got a large coleman 6 man tent and a 10 x 10 ezup. I'm positive that it's too big for GA but I'll make the room. Swing wide, tell other people in car line to do the same and you'll be alright. If not, move to tent only.

Oh yeah, we had a massive 13 x 13 tent last year in GA and we were fine. We had one of the only shade tents, so we made friends with our neighbors, which was great. This year, we have a 9x12 tent, a 10x10 ezup and a double shower/potty tent. We'll make room, and make friends. We're getting it all up tomorrow - I'll post pics! Woohoo!
