My friends and I are planning on doing a couple. First one to make sure we know how to put it all up. Next one will be like a time trial to see how fast we can get everything out and set up for the land grab.
I am going to be setting up all of my stuff at some point also. I have a giant tarp that I use for ground cover, and I really want to lay it out and fold it back up just right so that it is easy to throw down during the land grab after parking.

I already set up my new tent to make sure it didn't suck. I'll have to set it up again to seal the seams. I'm also gonna set up my EZ up and set the canopy before I leave so that it won't take as long to set up once I get there.
I did my first rough trial run a week or two ago. I didn't have everything yet, and I didn't take too much care to make everything as perfect as I will at Roo, but it was a lot of fun. Set everything up and grilled up some food, drank some beers, listened to some music, and pretended we were chillin at Bonnaroo already
Wish I had better pictures, but this is a rough idea of what my camp will look like.
Yep. Set up everything a couple of weeks back, but during the tear down of the canopy, realized two pieces were starting to break and accidentally broke them completely. That canopy's done for now, so I just ordered a new one a couple of days ago. We'll have to do a full run through again with the new canopy, but we still have to seam seal and everything, so we knew we were going to have to break it all out again anyway.

ahhh! i love the pineapple!! where did you find that?!
"Walk tall, kick ass, learn to speak Arabic, love music and never forget you come from a long line of truth seekers, lovers and warriors" - Hunter S. Thompson
When you do a test run for the first time, always wait to do it until the weather is really bad. That way it will seem easier the next time.
Also. Even if you are using all old gear from years past and you could set the thing up with your eyes closed, do it again at home. Just to make sure you have all the parts. I have seen more than a few people sleeping on top of their laid out tent becuase there were no tent poles.
Our tent is 16 x 10...big enough for two air mattresses and all of our stuff, but VERY easy to put up. It has a room divider and it's Wenger brand. We liked it because of all the ventilation courtesy of massive and numerous windows.
That's way bigger than 6x8 or 8x10... my guess is closer to 8x16 or even 10x20. A 3 person tent will be about 8x8, that thing probably sleeps more than 6.
I'm excited about everything: shopping, planning, packing, dry runs.
I ordered the parts to build a shelter 25x30 feet, and its 12 feet tall!!!
What do you guys think? No one will care if I use up to much space as long as I give the shade away, right?
Haha, and here I've been worried about the extra space that my new 14x14 canopy is going to take up.
As long as you give your neighbors a heads up about the skyscraper you're about to build, everything should be cool. Plus, shade is one of the best things you can give away to your neighbors, so I doubt you'd run into any problems.

Got it at Wal-mart for like two dollars. Should be able to find things like that at any party supply store or Wal-mart. It's made of paper and will undoubtedly shred to pieces in the slightest rain or strong wind, but I'll have a backup flag or something in case of emergency.
What is the best way to connect tapestries to the canopy? We tried tape last summer, and it didn't stay. Any suggestions?
I hate admitting that I use Wal-mart so much, but they've got good cheap stuff for Bonnaroo... To hang my tapestries on my test run (and to hold the tarps up, the flagpole, and various other things) I got a bag of 16 (I think) clamps in the tool section at Wal-mart for only like $8.88. I took a picture of the various sizes included, laid out on my cat for your viewing pleasure.

I was way off, My depth perception must be wack, wait a second is that cat the size of a car?
I am doing a bit of 'Roo training this weekend, not tent set up, as I'm flying from Arizona to Nashville and staying with my crew... But I will be doing some mad hiking, in the 105º heat, getting that endurance sharp and ready for the Farm ;D

did the first trial run the other day. Set up canopy and sleeping tent. Gonna be a tight squeeze this year. hopefully we can get it up quick and claim our spot. Got to do a few more runs before Roo time though to perfect it.
we've been doing some trial runs and everything went fine until last night when it rained for hours - which is why we did it then. water i pooling on the lower portion of our canopy roof! we bought a screen house and i thought i found the perfect one because the long sides are zippered in the middle but you can also REMOVE ALL SIDES and that was we can take out the short ones to fit the car/tent.
anyway so now i am trying (in the rain again today) to troubleshoot the water/roof issue. husband is geting clamps on his way home and we are going to try that on the ends to pull the fabric taut and see if that helps. its also on a slight incline as my front yard is a sort of hill. wondering if the weird splay of the legs is part of the problem. fun fun.
if anyone has any ideas let me know. here is a pic:

I see "Beardy". Does he come with your campsite too? You should totally get a carboard cut out made of Beardy and set up so people can take pics with him. He looks so jovial the one time that I saw him.
I see a golf ball retriever "flag pole". Sweet. That IU canopy looks pretty nice. I wish I would have bought one like that. Zip ties would work pretty good to fix your flag pole to the canopy. We'll a flag pole too with a glow in the dark monkey in case your pineapple disintegrates.
