it might rain, but i dont think we will see another mud-cluster-eff like we did in 04. they have taken steps with the setup of the farm to minimize that.
i would prefer periods of rain to dust/heat any day.

This is a serious question.... I wonder what they could possibly do to mitigate or minimize the mud? After all... it's a farm.....
Hopefully they've improved the road beds since they now own the property (ie put down some thicker gravel, etc.) but if it rains like in '04 there will be mud like in '04.
The weather conditions will be similar so we'll see.

I think the majority of the mud in 04 was due to a lack of rain before roo combined with all the people walking around. The VIP section wasnt where it is now & you could enter directly into the main stage through what is now VIP. In front of that was tent only which was less than half full so it was more or less just a giant mud covered roadway/cut through.
Geez... I hope that we don't have weather like in this video from this past Saturday at DelFest.... no injuries, so good things, but this is brutal.....
I just remember how difficult it was to walk into centeroo since all the footpaths were complete mud, and you would just see sandals and shoes floating in these giant puddles everywhere.
And once you got into centeroo, forget about it. Especially when it was dark.
We, just a few minutes ago, had a similar storm to the one above. Lasted 20 minute, dropped about 1+ inch of rain, very high winds. It's been sunny/humid all morning and the sun is coming out again. Probably didn't even rain 5 miles down the road.
Conditions here in Roo country are setting up for this possibility. It can be intense but it's very spotty also. Just be prepared. Stake down tents and canopies and bring plastic/tarps/ponchos.

This has me worried. I don't mind the rain so much but high winds with it could be bad. I need a good way to keep my shade tent on the ground.
Well, the sheer amount of rain that has come down lately is a big concerning too. I'm in Western NC, but it's downright water-logged here right now... I am hoping it dries out now in a big way....
Rebar. 24 inch rebar will keep your tent/shade tarp attached to the ground through most any non-tornadic storm activity. You need a metal head mallet or small sledgehammer and 24 inch rebar.

If I remember the weather forecast correctly (you think I would since I posted on the Weather Forecast Thread this morning but...) it's calling for rain Mon-Tue before Roo. Then afternoon showers the rest of the time.
OK, this is the last of grumbling about the possible wetness of Roo. We'll just wait and see.

We have a rain cover for our tent and have sealed both the tent and cover. We have enough room to put the tent completely under our shade tent to protect it from heavy rain, just in case.
Everything will be staked down
As for rain clothing we have wellies/waders (good & cheap at Walmart/Target) as well as ponchos and/or rain jackets, and will probably stash an umbrella in the car just in case too.
I think we're well prepared , though hopefully there won't be any bad downpours, otherwise I won't mind the rain!
Prepare yourself so even if there is some rain, you and your stuff won't end up muddy and soaked!
Rain shoes/boots and a jacket/poncho = packing essentials!
I bought a few packs of ponchos @ the $$ store the other day. I have my rainboots but I need to get some for Dallas. I think I need to buy some extra stakes and a few more tarps. My tent will fit under my shade tent as well and I have the walls that go up but it was too hot last year to use them. I can throw it on in a hurry though to keep the rain out.
I'll be doing some rain dances to keep the heavy shiz away. Some nice sunny showers in the day is fine with me but that nighttime rain kills me b/c I get so cold.

I work in public relations and we were having a rather large outdoor event a few weekends ago (May in southern Indiana...can it be all that different from June in Tennessee?). The sky opened up and down came the rain and out came the wind. It picked up all of our E-Z Ups that had been staked (plastic stakes though) and blew them away. The only tent that made it through was a 60'x80' semi-permanent structure. The poor musicians placed under a few of the E-Z Ups were soaked.
okay can someone explain the rebar? i got plastic stakes but they were bigger than the skinny little metal ones that came with it (that failed to keep it from being thrown into the car). should i get something else? if so, where?
