So, mods, forgive me if this isn't the right place for this. It seemed acceptable.
I could use help making a decision, boys and girls.
Last week, I lost my job. Sucks, I know, but what can you do? I already have three other jobs in mind. Question is, should I go ahead and get one of those jobs (and probably miss out on Bonnaroo this year) or should I wait it out, go to Bonnaroo, and then worry about work?
It's a weird question, I know. I do have the money for Bonnaroo and the money to survive for a few weeks without any problem. So, really, it's all down to whether I should be responsible or whether I should just say to hell with reality and enjoy myself for a bit.

AHH tough situation!! It depends on a few things. Do you have a lot of bills? Do you have enough money RIGHT NOW to cover them? After paying all your bills, do you have money for food/emergencies that might come up within the next month?
Have you already bought your ticket? (or do you have money set aside for it) If you have money set aside from it, do you STILL have enough to cover your bills?
What do you think you'll be doing next roo (can you make it?).
.... For me? If I had enough money to cover all my bills, at least $200 for emergencies, a pretty good idea that I'll get hired after roo (can you call them and explain to them you're really interested... but you scheduled a vacation and you're willing to count that as part of your allotted 2 week or whatever vaca) - I'd go.
I'd especially go if I knew I couldn't make it next year.
Your best bet... get in touch with the hiring manager at the few jobs you're looking at and explain the situation.
yeah, I would talk to the managers at the places ur looking at but in reality if it was me I would just go to Roo no matter what but I'm totally irresponsible.

Any opinion is appreciated.
In the immortal words of Ferris,
"Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."
In other words, come to Bonnaroo while you can, worry about the job later. Esp. if you have the funds to survive between now and then.
"We're no longer called Sonic Death Monkey. We're on the verge of becoming Kathleen Turner Overdrive, but just for tonight, we are Barry Jive and his Uptown Five. "
If I were you, I would try to land one of those jobs now... but just let them know that you have a vacation booked and can't work those days. If this hurts your chances of landing the job, then it probably wouldn't be a good place to work anyway...

To answer a few questions:
1) I have very few bills to pay. A few here and there, but not anything major. 2) All three jobs are pretty much guaranteed. Really, it's all up to which one I want and when I can start. I figure, whichever one I take, I could start after Bonnaroo and be fine. 3) I already have my ticket. 4) I have around 1500 dollars saved up for just this kind of emergency. I can survive on that with ease over the next few weeks.
Really, everything points at 'I should go to Bonnaroo', but I wanted to get some second opinions just in case.
I'm in the same situation as you are, and I chose to go to Bonnaroo and worry about getting a job after. But I live with my parents and don't have a lot of bills to worry about so that makes things easier. If you have enough money saved up to last these couple weeks coming up to Bonnaroo, and maybe a week after bonnaroo, then I would def. go to bonnaroo and get a job when you come back.
6/18: Phish in Hartford 6/25: Phish in Camden 7/2-7/4: Nateva 7/17: God Street Wine at Irving Plaza 7/23-7/25: String Cheese at Red Rocks!! 8/17-8/18: Phish at Jones Beach 9/3: Rush at PNC
This Bonnaroo lineup is in dire need of some Rush.

you should DEFIANTLY go. i'll see you there =] (maybe.. if i see you.. but you will be there, lol)
Based on the info you gave, I'd also say go to Bonnaroo.
+1 for actually having an emergency fund. Not a lot of people are able to save stuff like that.
I second this! It sounds like you are set up with a job regardless and if you can afford to go without working a few weeks, already have your ticket, and all that jazz, you should definitely go!
"Wish I was down on some blue bayou, With a bamboo cane stuck in the sand. But the road I'm on, don't seem to go there, So I just dream, keep on bein' the way I am. "-- Merle Haggard
Go to the 'Roo. With your nest egg saved up and your ticket bought, and a job basically a lock, you might as well look at it as serendipity. Maybe spend the extra time setting up and taking down your camp, just so you can do well during land grab.
when did you last take a vacation at the job you lost? i know plenty of people who take a "vacation" in between old job and new job. its well deserved, especially if you got screwed by losing your job, and it makes it easier because you've satisfied your vacation fix and don't have to worry about arranging vactaion time when you start a new job for a good while.
go, and have fun. obviously you are a responsible person with your bases covered. life is nothing without fun and happy memories. enjoy!

Get a job hippie!!!
.....after Bonnaroo.
If i were in your shoes though, I'd at least set up interviews and such before Bonnaroo. They shouldn't have any problem with you saying you can't start until the 15th or whatever. And if it is a decent sized place with an HR department and everything, the hiring process can take a couple of weeks anyway. This could allow them to put you in the payroll system and do the needed paperwork on their end so you can start right away instead of having to maybe sit out another week or so. Plus you'd have the peace of mind of knowing 100% that you have something lined up instead of 95%.
And you're going to show up the firt day saying, "huh, can you repeat that", "I'm sorry, what was that again" as your brain unsuccessfully tries to comprehend conversations with these strange, new people. I'd start the week before or wait at least a week afterward. The complete inability to make your brain function the way you know it can is often a vey irritating experience after Bonnaroo.
