Dream vacation: Greek Isles with my boy, his girls, my girls, and my sister, so she can watch the kids when the boy and I want to have playtime.
Best vacation thus far: Seattle and the whole western half of Washington state in August of this year. It was the first vacation I took with my girls after the divorce. We stayed with a high school artist friend of mine and her rock-n-roll librarian husband. They showed us EVERYTHING, cooked organic meals, and generally acted as part-time nannies so I could relax. I didn't want to come home. Seriously. Plus I sat for several portraits that she's been able to sell since. Pretty neat!
Selling newspaper subscriptions on commission when I was 16. Not that much fun, but I felt like a millionaire. Plus I started to hone my PR skills that I still use today.
Who from this board have you met in real life / know in real life? (mofrohead excluded)
Wolfaroo for certain.
Hipster Doofus maybe. We communicate via Facebook, but haven't met in-person. I look forward to coming to the breakfast this year and finally putting some faces with screen names. ;D
YES. I hope to goodness I can be a member of the street team again and get that free ticket. I have all the big items I need, with just a few little extras to purchase. If I have to go alone, so be it. I'll definitely be staying in Camp Inforoo if so. I really, really, really need the dates set so I can make it known far and wide at work that I won't be here (that is a VERY busy time for me, and I have to pull strings to get the days off).
Yes, I've been to Elkhart. It's actually my secretary's home town. Why have you been reading about it? It's in northern Indiana near South Bend (home of Notre Dame) and it's pretty un-remarkable. Like pretty much most of Indiana.
I love The Count and Cookie Monster, who are Sesame Street characters, but I think technically count as Muppets. If you only mean the Muppet Movie characters, I would have to go with Statler and Waldorf. Good gravy, they *still* make me laugh.

MSNBC has been doing a reporting series about the nation's economic struggles, centered around this pretty unremarkable town in Indiana. Apparently, Elkhart is reflective of our nation's collective economic woes.
What 7 acts...wow are they talking headliners or supporting or late night?
Headliners Friday -> REM -> Paul McCartney
Saturday -> Red Hot Chili Peppers ->The Who
Sunday -> Lyle Lovett-> The Avett Brothers -> Allman Brothers Band
Late Night options in tents Friday -> The Reverend Horton Heat, Flaming Lips, Bruce Hornsby Saturday -> George Clinton and P-Funk, Michael Franti and Spearhead, String Cheese
Sunday morning Mike Farris and the Roseland Rhythm Review put on an amazing show and there were a bunch of us saying it would have been cool if Al Green could have played or there could have been some bluegrass gospel, etc. Just a thought
Parliament: Friday evening (“opener” for headliner)
You sure you don't mean late night?
I had them late night at first, but then thought that might diminish my ability to enjoy them -- I was soooooo tired at the late night shows last year. It was my selfish decision to move them earlier.
insidejoke - I like your list. The only one I don't know is Ben Gibbard/Jay Farrar. Where should I start?
Start here: This is a complete live concert recorded in October in DC. I listened to it three times straight though yesterday at work. I lovelovelove this album.

Whoa. Another difficult one thrown my way. Again, in no paricular order...
Bob Dylan I keep my hands in my pocket, I’m movin’ along People think they know, but they’re all wrong You're something nice, I’m gonna bet my dice I can’t say I haven't paid the price Jolene, Jolene Baby I am the king and you is the queen
Jeff Tweedy Crawling back to you now, I sold my guitar to the girl next door. She asked me if I knew how, I told her ‘I don’t think so anymore.’
John Mellencamp Through the hills of Kentucky, across the Ohio River The old man kept talking 'bout his life and his times He fell asleep with his head against the window He said an honest man's pillow is his peace of mind This world offers riches and riches will grow wings I don't take stock in those uncertain things
Others who definitely make the list * Lennon/McCartney * Brian Wilson * Neko Case * Sufjan Stevens * Todd Snider
