Haha seriously? I wish I was around for Ryan's crazier days. The only thing I got at Syracuse last year other than a great show was barely audible rants.
Is this a show you're talking about on the same day?
No no. That was the show. 7 or 8 songs in Ryan punched Phil and a scuffle insued that ended with Ryan riding Phils guitar across stage like a surfboard. STRINGS DOWN
That ended that night and I didn't see him again till the Heartbreaker release party. I never got to see Whiskeytown V.2 (or 3 for that matter).
Greatest concert attended?
That awesome story reminds me that Ryan needs to go back on tour. Life just isn't the same without him releasing an album and touring every year.
Greatest concert attended shouldn't really be a surprise to those that have been to Bonnaroo, MMJ Late Night Which 08. That show was on another level, and everyone could feel it. A Dinosaur invasion couldn't have torn me away.
Non festival would be Radiohead in Cleveland. The sound was impeccable, the light show was perfect, and the music was well Radiohead.
^^^That's an awesome story, Andy. Which leads me to a similar question for ND...
What's the craziest thing you've seen at a concert, or the craziest concert you've attended?
Craziest concert was also one of my favorites, Flaming Lips at Pitchfork. The only show of the weekend that had the crowd packed together like sardines. Probably my favorite part of the fest (other than sets by M83, the National, and the Flips) was two giant record tents, all vinyl, my eyes got huge. I bought a couple records and didn't think I'd have trouble keeping them safe at my feet. Well "Race for the Prize" started and the crowd moved with it, so I'm trying to keep my new records safe, and the crowd is swaying about ten feet. Myself, and my new records got through it safe, but I don't think I'll ever see a show like that again, unless it's the Flaming Lips.
Ferris Bueller's Day Off is definitely my most watched movie so I'll go with that. I've always wanted to be like Ferris, but think I skew more Cameron.

ND, what tv shows do you watch? (Watch Lost there is still time)
Currently on tv: The Office, 30 Rock, Community, The Simpsons, The Mighty Boosh, Subterranean, How I Met Your Mother, Real World
Honestly I enjoy older shows or British shows on E4, so I get most of my stuff online: Dexter, True Blood, Misfits, Skins, Entourage, Northern Exposure

If I have somewhere to go, it's pretty difficult to deal with, if I don't I love it. We have a window of opportunity here before the lake freezes and it's under 32 degrees where we can get monster storms. I've seen seven feet over a few days, three feet overnight, and an October storm that closed my high school for a week and half and led to some of my favorite memories of my senior year.

Do you prefer the first or second generation of Skins?

Gotta be first generation. Sid is one of my favorite characters on television, and the rest of the cast was pretty great too. I mean they had the kid from Slumdog Millionaire on it as a regular. I think it was written better the the second generation so far too, although that could change with the new series. One of the best soundtracks I've heard on tv too.

It was Blossom, In Rainbows tour. I only have Darien Lake to compare it too, but it absolutely blew it out of the water. Great setting, acoustics, sightlines (to a point, I shouldn't have stood to the side of the lawn, I could have been far back center and had a better view,) and the line to get in and out wasn't terrible.
I did visit the rock and roll hall of fame. It was alright, it was cool to see the guitar and the stage props for various concerts and tour (the Phish hot dog for one,) but it was a lot smaller than I thought it would be.
Alrighty. Same place, but probably 7-8 years apart. I ventured there for the Kid A/Amnesiac tour way back in 2001.
What's the farthest you've traveled for a non-festival show? Buffalo (I'm assuming) to Cleveland, or something farther?
Buffalo to Cleveland was the furthest. But I've also visited my friend at Hamilton College (about 4 hours) to see Jamie Lidell, which was a great show.
Other long trips Syracuse- Ryan Adams & The Cardinals Ithaca- Sufjan Stevens
Both excellent.
I also go to Toronto a bunch, around 9 times in 2009, which is about an hour and a half. If I see a show I want to see there, I don't hesitate in going.
I played trumpet in high school until I graduated. I haven't picked it up since, but everytime I hear a part in Beirut or the National I want to dust it off. I was never to serious about it, which I kind of regret now.
I also have a guitar that I should practice more with.
Just from a few hours of catching up here and there around the boards, I gather you're a Flaming Lips fan...
Top three albums? How many times have you seen them? Favorite/least favorite show? How would you describe them to an uneducated?
Cat or dog person? What are your 7 daily essentials?
I'm a big fan of the Flaming Lips, both on record and live. Top three records
1. Soft Bulletin 2. Clouds Taste Metallic (More people should listen to this record) 3. Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots
I really love the new album too, but have to wait a little to see how it ages.
Only seen them once, but it was a great experience. I was waited from just before the Thermals played to get close to the stage so it was absolutely packed. During soundcheck Wayne helped set up and talked to the crowd, basically just being awesome. One of my favorite shows ever, I just wish it could have went longer. Right after the set ended my friend and I had to drive all night to Buffalo so he could make it in time for work. It was just one of those days where everything worked. M83 playing certainly helped as well.
If I were to describe them to someone who had never heard of them before...I would say it's what a circus should be like. Instead of sad animals and scary clowns, you have Wayne Coyne and confetti guns.
Dog person, cats make me uneasy.
1. Music 2. Run 3. Shower 4. Eggo Waffles 5. My record collection 6. Turkey Sandwich 7. Music
Did you play in a band in H.S. (other than the school band)?
What kind of guitar do you have?
Didn't play in the cool type of band in high school. Although honestly I don't know what music it would've played. It probably would have been a really, really, really bad incarnation of Phish, so it's no loss.
I have a red Fender Telecaster, not the one the costs a grand though, the lower end model. I should really play it more. I guess I have all winter though.
Clouds Taste Metallic (More people should listen to this record)
Bonus question: favorite Lips album that preceded its release?
Transmissions From The Satellite Heart is also quite awesome. Also If anyone would like to donate their original press lp of this I'll be happy to take it off your hands.
