I have been invited to a party/cookout on Saturday with some people from work. I'm somewhat ambivalent about going, but the guy who's throwing it is really nice, and, to the extent I know them, I like the other people who are going. Josh is not at all excited about going because it is mostly people he doesn't know, and, mostly attorneys. I'm pro-making-friends-at-work, and that is the main reason I'm interested in going. I think it will probably be fun, although I have a tendency to clam up in largish groups (there are about 12 people on the invite email, and I assume several will bring significant others).
Also on Saturday is this: www.renoriverfestival.com/ In the 4 months we've lived here, we've really only been to Reno twice, and that was to go to the bank. I really want to go see the Run Amok Mud Run and the Double Dutch battle, both of which are on Saturday afternoon when the party is to take place.

Do you want to go to D's Diner? YES
If so...what do you want to eat? sweet potato fries and malted buttermilk pancakes
Fav album of all time? Kid A
Please define a life changing moment in your life. a life changing moment for me was my trip to japan a few years ago. it took me out of my bubble and gave me an insatiable hunger for travel...if only i could afford it!
One rooster that you would like to meet but have not? I genuinely want to meet every single rooster. But I am most curious to meet Adam. I wasn't sure he existed until he called me in 08 at 3am on his way to roo, but I won't really believe it til I meet him.

What should I do? Flip a coin!
Seriously though, there will always be more work events. And it may be more beneficial to stick to smaller gatherings, for now, where you can be more relaxed and better able to acquaint yourself with your new coworkers. I'd say go to the rivery thing, since that's what you really want to do, and I'm assuming it will be less painful for Josh as well...

Good advice! This is what we decided on, but I did make some cookies to give to the guy who's having the party. (The oatmeal-chocolate chip-pecan cookies that I posted the link to the other day. They turned out really well!)
Questions:
You said that you don't use an alarm clock. Do you naturally get up at the same time every day or do you just wake up whenever you wake up?
You said that you have a large number of red wines on hand at your place. What is your favorite?
You said that Halloween is your favorite holiday. Do you still dress up? And what has been your favorite costume that you've worn in any year past?

First album you bought?
First concert attended? My first REAL concert was Primus, on their Punchbowl tour.
Favorite authors/books? I love David Sedaris. Other than, I don't have much author loyalty. Catcher in the Rye (cliche, I know!), Where the Sidewalk Ends... Currently reading "Everything Ravaged, Everything Burned" by Wells Tower, really enjoying it.
Which video game has claimed the most hours of your life? Tetris and an embarrassingly long stint playing MMORPGs in the early 2000s...
You get the #1 pick in the 2010 Inforoo fantasy football draft... who's your man? I can't think about football until about August, it's too painful and the offseason takes foreverrrrrrr. I don't even watch the draft anymore. So, I'll go with a tie between Mike Vick and Ben Roethlisberger.
You said that you don't use an alarm clock. Do you naturally get up at the same time every day or do you just wake up whenever you wake up? If I have to get up at a certain time, I can wake myself up on time. During the week I wake up within a 30 minute window, nowadays just after sunrise. Having huge windows helps for that, too
You said that you have a large number of red wines on hand at your place. What is your favorite? I am a sucker for a good cabarnet sauvignon.
You said that Halloween is your favorite holiday. Do you still dress up? And what has been your favorite costume that you've worn in any year past? I do still dress up! Although it's become increasingly hard to not hooch it up! Here is a pic of me and my brother from a couple Halloweens ago, i liked the dress, but it doesn't compare to my plastic trashbag dress + plastic mask barbie costume...

Who is your hero? My Mom.
What is your favorite tv channel? I am ALL over the board with my channel preferences. I'll have to go with sundance channel, because if all else fails I can usually turn it on and find something interesting.
When was the last time you went to the zoo? About 3 months ago, aka far too long considering I have an annual pass
Why did you decide to go to your first Bonnaroo? I was lured in by radiohead... and every single thing I learned about the festival made me more and more excited!!! I was supposed to go with a boy, but that fell through at the very last minute; but my excitement would not be stopped, and I went alone! One of my best and craziest decisions ever
Where did you go on your first vacation? When I was about 1, my parents had the fabulous idea to take me on a grand road trip up the coast and over to Yellowstone Natl Park... It's a shame I don't remember any of it!
If you could hang out with any character on the Office, as in the character not the actor, who would you pick?
Hypothetically speaking, if the Lips, LCD, Black Keys and Hall/Chromeo conflict, which two would you try to see the most of?
If you could have anyone else's body, whose would you choose?
A domestic pet starts to talk to you in plain English. What would you talk to it about?
You are given the chance for the all access pass at roo to do whatever you possibly want this year, but you will have a severe case of head lice throughout. Would you do it?

If you could hang out with any character on the Office, as in the character not the actor, who would you pick? Michael Scott, he's a freakin hoot....and a well meaning goof.
Hypothetically speaking, if the Lips, LCD, Black Keys and Hall/Chromeo conflict, which two would you try to see the most of? LCD & Black Keys, no doubt! I'd still see a bit of the other 2.
If you could have anyone else's body, whose would you choose?
A domestic pet starts to talk to you in plain English. What would you talk to it about? I'd talk to my favorite kitty about her bad habits, maybe work out an agreement about fixing them and getting her some extra goodies... Then I'd ask TONS of questions about the trials and tribulations of being a cat and what they think of us silly humans
You are given the chance for the all access pass at roo to do whatever you possibly want this year, but you will have a severe case of head lice throughout. Would you do it? Of course!! I'd just wear many head coverings. My mind would be so blown I doubt I'd give it a second thought once things got rolling! That said, Ive never had lice, so I am completely ignorant about how horrible it is...but I'd be willing to take the risk!

What is your favorite beach in the San Diego area? Blacks Beach. Very hard to get to, but worth it for the solitude...but watch out for the naked people
What's your favorite exhibit at the zoo? It's a tossup between the Polar Bear Plunge
And Elephant Odyssey (especially the lions, which I can't seem to find a pic of!)
What's the funnest thing to do in the Gaslamp Quarter? I haven't been into the downtown scene for many years, so I can't speak on what is fun nowadays... But back when I went, 80s night at the bitter end was pretty fun ;D

Pick your most influential records from five year intervals of your life. So at 5-10-15-20-25
missed this before nod...whoops!
5 The video for Billie Jean blew my 5 year old mind. I had no idea what the song was about, but I liked it. My first crush was Michael Jackson.
10 Many long road trips staring out the window to this album. Very fond memories.
15 This album still takes me back to the days where I'd be at the beach from sun up to well past sun down... smoking things, hanging out with friends, bonfires. It's no surprise this album was the soundtrack to my life at the time.
20 I was pretty serious when I was 20. I really connected with this album (and their previous albums) at this point in my life. Dark, weird, foreboding, etc...
25 If I could I would paste all radiohead albums here. My last couple years of college I was 100% obsessed with radiohead. It's literally all I would listen to. I would change which album depending on my mood. For this year I most remember listening to:

rockinhood questions continued... What popular movie or TV series from the 80's would you revive with a 2010 sensibility? (*you have to pick one) Quantum Leap
Who would you cast in the lead?
Scariest horror movie? Halloween. To date the only movie that has actually scared me
Best Tom Hanks project?
Worst Tom Hanks project?
Favorite concert film? The nonexistant dvd of radiohead at bonnaroo
Favorite cartoon as a kid? Jem. I'd stop by my friend Kelly's house on the way to school and watch it with her every morning. I even had a Jem sleeping bag (which I wish I still had, mostly for roo)!
Should they make it into a movie? God no. It's horrible!!!
