Sleestacks and Cylons. Watching the old BSG with my father I asked him if Cylons were real. Like any busy dad he wasn't paying close attention to everything I said and he answered yes. I think it took me about five years to get over it. So funny.
I dunno if you guys remember the movie Little Monsters with Fred Savage and Howie Mandel...but I used to jump into my bed so my legs wouldn't be too close to the underneath of it. I didn't want any hands reaching out and grabbing my ankles.
I love that movie! But Maurice was a good monster! I think I would have loved to have gone down to their world as a kid. Hell, I'd STILL like to go to their world!
There was a show on when I was a kid called Sammy Terry.. It showed B rated horror movies...Kinda of like Elvira.. Sammy scared the crap out of me. When I was in high school I went and seen him live and even though it was obviously an old man in makeup he still gave me heebie jeebies.
Sammy Terry! Wow...I used to watch him too with my Dad and it scared me to death. I'm quite sure his pet spider George spurred my life-long fear of spiders.

the damn movie Phantasm scared the crap out of me! I thought those silver balls were EVERYWHERE!!!
Haha I just watched Phantasm for the first time the other day. Hilarious now, I can see how it might be terrifying as a kid though.
I had a couple big cat posters on my wall that scared the crap out of me as a kid, but for some reason I never took them down. Lets see if I can find them... Well the white tiger one was similar to this, but not in water:
And I think this was the exact black panther poster:
Now I love big cats.. strange.
Also the book Sphere used to scare the holy hell out of me, but I read it over and over again anyway
Wizard of Oz Teddy Rumskin The Airconditioner's (Phil Hartman) death in Brave Little Toaster... that shit was frightening! I'm still kind of scared of it.
Wizard of Oz Teddy Rumskin The Airconditioner's (Phil Hartman) death in Brave Little Toaster... that nuts was frightening! I'm still kind of scared of it.
Those were my two favorite movies when I was little!! Though the vacuum in the Brave Little Toaster scared me cause he was kinda mean at times.
Did you know they are making Teddy Ruxpins again? My nephew got one for Christmas and my brother-in-law freaked out because he used to be terrified of those things.

1) Life Sized dolls - my best friend had one and I used to make her put it in another room when I stayed at her house. Those things creep me out to this DAY. I think it's a Chucky thing. 2) Teddy Ruxpin - what. the. fuck. 3) Any talking toy really - my mom says I was terrified of the See N Say for a long time 4) Elevators - I watched some disney special as a child about the "Tower of Terror" and for a long time I was terrified of an elevator cable snapping and plummeting me to my death 5) GREMLINS - that movie scared the crap out of me
Mirrors in the dark! Too many Bloody Mary stories @ slumber parties.
Also, rollercoasters or any other amusement ride that was high up in the air.....still have not quite gotten over that one. I'll go on little roller coasters but nothing that goes upside down.

Tornados.... thanks Wizard of OZ
Bridges.... still have little panic attacks when driving over a bridge.
Fountains..... still bother me to this day! Not the ones you drink from but the big decorative ones.... ugh... chills thinking about fountains now!
I have always checked behind the shower curtain, no matter whose house I am at, before I potty.
I also really used to be afriad that the guy from the painting in Ghostbusters 2 was going to come take me out of my bed. I had to sleep with my back against a wall and be able to see all around me.
I was just coming to post this. Mirrors have some creepy, magic thing going on. I still avoid looking in the mirror when I get up to pee at night and I'm 47.
Oh and zombies creep me ouit. I LOVE zombie movies because I still can't watch even the stupidest one when I'm alone in the house.

My dad and I watched An American Werewolf in London when I was 7, because I was into old monster movies, mostly the classic Lon Chaney ones. We lived in Cambridgeshire, UK at the time. I had nightmares for years. Especially about deer, hospitals, and watching the muppet show.

Most of mine stem from movies, most of which I probably shouldn't of watched, It Childs Play: For years I checked every closet and looked under the sink in the bathroom.
The grandmother and Easter bunny from Bill and Teds Bogus Journey
I have a terrible phobia of slugs. When I was a preschooler, we lived in this old house that had hardwood floors and cracks where the slugs would get inside the house. I can remember walking across the floor in the dark with my mom and her stepping on a slug and screaming. I am still really freaked out by them and can almost get a panic attack talking about them. My children and friends delight in evoking that exact response from me.
