Never been to all good but thinking about going this year. Last year i hit Roth and Roo, brought the kids to Roth not to Roo, just wondering if anyone can give me some thoughts about kids at this festival. It looks like its somewhat family friendly(looking at the website) just wondering about anyones personal experiences. Is the family camp fun or should we just do general camping?
How old are your kids? Honestly I think if anyone is under 16 you should go to family camp. However Bunny, Teine, and I groundscored a baby in general camping 08, so people do bring them.

my personal opinion is that I would not bring anyone under 18. i love this fest and this will be my 3rd year in a row of going. this is a very headie fest and i remember way back when is was a teen. i would have been out of control. i prefer the smaller local festivals to take my younger son to. my older started going to festivals with me after he graduated from high school.
I heard we are getting Garage a Trois as well, which makes sense. I dont know if they are the BIG add, but that is huge to me.
Indeed. I headed over to archive yesterday after seeing this post, and THIS BAND IS AWESOME. I'm actually a very new MMW fan as well, so it seems like jazz-funk is my new scene. Regardless, I'm now super super stoked about their set at All Good. Thanks for the heads up man.

Groundscored a baby? Pretty funny Jess. Thanks for the info. my Kids are 10 and 4, the oldest has been to 2 festivals the youngest one. I see that this will be a heady "family" festival thats why i want to bring my family. Why should i keep my kids from the experience of a music festival? After going to roth and roo last year i thought roo was better for kids than roth although i brought my kids to Roth instead of Roo. i think festivals are fine for kids as long as the parents are responsible. At roth my 10 year old asked about people doing the No no word. i told her that many people do that and lots of responsible people do that as well. They are just having a good time and most will return to their job on Monday. I told her its not a horrible thing. Maybe if more kids saw people using the no no word at festivals they may grow up realizing that it is not the devils tool and not a horrible thing. but thats a whole different conversation. Anyways i think it may be family camp this year.
True story about the baby actually, well kind of. Bunny and I were charging cellphones in her car, and Joel (teine) came to find her because a baby had been screaming for 5 or 10 minutes, and it was hot. She took the baby into her AC'd car and I waited around for Momma to come back so she would not think there had been a kidnapping.

^ What kind of maniac leaves a baby alone in the heat?
Anyhow this'll be my 2nd All Good. I'm pretty jazzed. This year I'm bringing a camera. I saw so much crazy stuff last year and was kicking myself for not having a camera. Live and learn. This year I'm gonna be prepared.

jess, i thought you were joking about the baby. I would have been so angry seeing something like that. Good thing there was someone responsible around for that baby. Like Sapphirefriend said who would do something like that?

Nope it almost got hardcore, I figured I would rather hang out and explain a kidnapping, instead of a dead baby. Bunny is the hero though she read that woman the riot act up one side and down the other.

After hearing that story You and Bunny are both heroes in my book. I would have gone to the authorites if i had seen something like that. Scary that some people can get so messed up they leave their kid out in the hot sun. Not good. back to the festival, i cant wait and am looking forward to enjoying some great music, great scenery and good friends, all of which i will enjoy with my family.

I had such a tough choice between All Good & Bonnaroo.. I haven't had a real vacation in a while, so I chose Bonnaroo since its more of a travel... However, with All Good being just up the road here, its pretty tempting to go to both!! Just have to worry about money -- and getting time off from work! Although I marked the calendar quite early, I was told - only after already ordering my tickets - that my time off for Roo isn't approved. Guess I'll be callin' in sick hah!
And there's no need to be scared of Backwoods WV, we're really not so bad! Besides, the Mountaintop is beautiful!! I'm actually pretty nervous about Roo to be honest - soo many people!!
You know me? haha how random!! (Feel free to send me a PM or somethin'! I'm curious now)
Yes, this will be my first Roo so I am definitely looking forward to the experience! But yeah... I'm very tempted to go to All Good also! I might just have to make it happen
FWIW: Larry Keel and Natural Bridge say they're playing All Good on their website. The announced date is one week after the fest, though (July 17th), so we'll see. I would love to see Larry Keel, one of the best flatpickers today!

Keller and the Keels would be sooooooooo much fun at All Good. I like to see Larry Keel in any combination and Keller and the Keels was one of the best at AMJAM.

The Black Seeds are a reggae band from New Zealand. They have some really chill grooves, and should be a great time on the mountain! One of the founding members is Bret McKenzie who you might know from Flight of the Conchords.
