of all the things they should ban, glowsticks definitely shouldn't be allowed. imagine all those glowsticks out in the ocean. fish choking on them, washing up on beaches far away.
Trust me....it's going to be held on a beach! And not just ANY beach...THE Beach in Gulf Shores....at the T....where H'way 59 and H'way 82 (?) or is it 80(?) converge in the heart of downtown Gulf Shores. It is usually a public beach that is being closed off for the festie with fencing around it so you can't just sail in or walk in from one of the HUNDREDS of nearby condos. Plateaus are all around AL because it is in the foothills of the Appalachains....and there are mts that stretch on for 10s and 100s of miles that have been declared plateaus...I grew up on one. But as you near the coast...those are rare and few between.....
I'm pretty sure I read something about this being held on a plateau or butte of some sort. Never heard anything about a beach. Can't imagine a beach being on a butte. Hell I'm not even sure what a butte is, but I don't think they have beaches.
I hiked a butte in Oregon a few years back. We went up for the sunset and to partake. We failed to bring a flashlight......mmmm....yeah that sucked.

if everybody promises to act responsibly w/ the glowsticks....ie throw them at each other and not at the fish, then i dont mind bringing a whole bunch......maybe we can arrange picking them up as part of the inforoo party. If anything it'll give incentive to show up and meet new folks....but then again it kinda depends on when you plan on having the "get to gether", and when the glow-sticks should be deployed (which set is best for the glowing barrage).
justa thought i guess......also how many glowsticks we talkin? assuming we are gonna be responsible with them and keep them on land.
Ima thinking that it might not be all that easy to get that many glowsticks past security. I realize that they have said nothing about glowsticks on the FAQ or said "No glowsticks" but I bet they will before May
Sorry to be Debbie Downer - I just bet they will tho - but it would be cool if they didn't
^^ Especially one million glowsticks. That's like... several boxes worth. Hard to stash a box containing several hundred thousand glowsticks in your tighty-whities. I've tried.

^the whities may offer more support, but when it comes to packin away contraband, you gotta go with the less constricting boxers......sure your boys my be floppin about, but you can double the amount of glowsticks you get in, at least!!! lol

so going to see Trey dressed as Glowstick Man would be a bad idea. Check. I guess i will just have to stick with my laser goggles. The goggles serve two purposes.... trips ppl out sumtimes AND protects own eyes from flying, ballsweat-coated glowsticks. I knew I bought those ridiculous things for a reason.

welcome! This year will be my first 'Roo as well, so yay. But all the threads here are helpful, and all the Inforooers are pretty freaking cool so browse around the site, theres SO MUCH information.
cchrisk2001: dude, you're so close to the Hangout Fest you'd better go to that to get an idea of the festival atmosphere and all that. This way you won't be so mindfukkkd when you hit the farm. (not that being mindfukkkd is a bad thing)

Hangout Street Team sent me an e-mail letting me know about ways to earn points on Spring Break. Also, they've posted to pick-up locations for the promos. Looks like they're going to be at
Charlemagne Record Exchange-Birmingham, AL Bay Sound- Mobile, AL Radioactive Records- Ft. Lauderdale, FL Waterboyz- Pensacola, FL The Disc Exchange- St. Petersburg, FL Shimon Presents- Atlanta, GA Local Color- Oxford, MS
if that doesn't work then just go to www.shimonpresents.com/ click on street team, and you'll get it from there.
If someone wants some promos to post but the pickup locations are too far for them, i'll pick up some extra when I go to B'ham to pick up mine. Just PM me and I can mail them to you or something of that nature.

^^ lol that's what I was thinking. I live about 45 mins away from B'ham and I go there pretty often so... It only makes sense for me to help out the ones that don't live close to a pickup site.
Also, should we call shimon presents and ask if u guys still get the points (the ones that don't have a pickup location in their states) if you post flyers in your areas? You would think so.. but you never know. It would suck to do all that work for nothing.

The site says that you have to let them know where you will be posting the flyers to make sure that you are posting them within the area to get points. So if there isn't a pickup location near you I would definitely email them about it before you spend time handing out flyers only to find out you're too far away to get points

I'd post flyers for free if someone sends me some. Im not on the street team or anything, I just want to spread the good word of the sweet new music festival on the BEACH. :-) Once the college kids here learn the Hangout Fest is on the Gulf Shore starting the day after finals..... LOOK OUT! ROAD TRIPPPPPPPPP
