Yea, Jadeenatasha go as a hot dog. willsfc can go as a bottle of ketchup. I'll go as mustard. I just feel very sorry for whoever has to be relish. On second thought, Im not entirely sure dressing up as food items at an event like this is safe. 35000 people with munchies and one giant hot dog walkin around all drunk from her bday drinks. Yea, not safe. Time to brainstrom some more.

umm...yyyeeeaaahhhhh.
I love your enthusiasm but yes, i'll have to agree that a drunken hot dog wouldn't be the safest idea.
plus now that I think about it, me+hot a$$ beach weather+ liquor or beer of any kind+a hot dog suit= lots and lots of throw up.

Hey everybody on this board, ive been quietly keepeing an eye on this, while awaiting the roo lineup. My friends and i had been to roo the last 3 years and i cant ever imagine having a better time...especially after last years lineup....(i love phish)..Then after getting this years lineup i was a little disappointed to say the least. For the first time in a few years i was skippiong the weekend on the farm, in hopes that i could spend my money on something more my style (crazy as it sounds!) I just dont really care for DMB or much of the rest of 2010 roo.....so when i saw the news today of the trey add, and the mother fuckin flaming lips right in my backyard (i live in pensacola!!!!!) i am as happy as i was last year when they announced the 2009 roo lineup.....so i bought my $115 early bird local ticket and reserved campsites 3 miles away (perfect for bike riding to the venue)....my friends and i will be there and if you have any questions about the local i can help as well.......everybody should plan to attend and make this an annual event on the gulf coast.....woooooooo GOD BLESS THE FLAMING LIPS!!!
Yes. I'm thinking that this is the festival that is getting my money this year.
Good lineup, decent price, and ON THE BEACH?! Can't think of a better place to see the Lips.
As far as camping goes, I google mapped the 2 state campsites that are listed on the official website, and both seem to be farther than 3 miles away from the festival entrance. Where did you find yours poster-nutbag?
"All in all, the creative act is not performed by the artist alone.. the spectator brings the work in contact with the external world by deciphering and interpreting its inner qualifications and thus adds his contribution to the creative act." -- Marcel Duchamp
Wowzers, just saw the lineup! I'm falling all over myself to scrape up some money to snag one of the early birds. How f'n sweet is this?!!!?! Like an hour from me@! So excited.

Get ready for some FLIPS!!!! best live show ever.....in my opinion, the music is great but the atmosphere and the hysteria that ensues when WAyne and the gang take the stage is top notch, and def. something to experience before you die......WooooT!!!!

in the FLIPS website it says sat...sounds correct to me...saturday night, main stage.... on trey's website it has him dowm for friday, which is fine, but who closes the fest....ZBB? Im not sure....but theres prob more info on other bands sites, i just havent checked.
OK...a bit more info on the lay of the land for non-locals thinking of going and wondering where to stay etc.....
Ft Morgan and area is a LOOOOONG arse way out to the west from where the festie is and there isn't much in the way of stores, restaurants or anything else except beach houses and ONE honking big resort out that way. Best to avoid heading in THAT direction unless you LOVE nature, Dauphin Island and driving A LOT!
Orange Beach is a bit closer in the other direction (east) and has a LOT more options for condo rentals primarily and also the Gulf State Park which has the RV campgrounds and some renovated hotel/cabins is about halfway between Gulf Shores and Orange Beach....but it is NOT within walking distance of the Hangout. Trust me on this. Biking...maybe if you are hard core about biking. But the traffic on the main beach road will be HORRIBLE that weekend and there IS a bike lane for PART of the way till you start getting into the business district of Gulf Shores then it's gonna be just pure madness and every man for himself.
Now the UPSIDE that I am REALLY REALLY hopeful and hoping for is that they are usually VERY good about providing low cost shuttles for big events (like the annual Shrimp Festival) all along the coast all the way to FL line on the east and almost to Ft Morgan west. It usually cost between $1-2 each way but it runs pretty much continuously during festival hours and has numerous drop off points in Orange Beach, the Flora Bama, the Gulf State Park and West Beach. That's what I am going to keep an eye on and will post as soon as I know something for sure
handgunhips bamabelle meg elusiveboz wchick tinydancer Mo fnmaniac (maybe)
who else????
add triponthis to the list. I just got off the phone with a good festy travel partner of mine who works at the house of blues in chicago...anyway, we're bringing a crew down. lookin at renting a condo at the moment. anyone local who can provide leads on condo's please let me know. there will prolly be 2 car loads of us but only requiring one condo to save on $$ for the long haul to/from Chicago. Man its going to be a good summer. Hangout--> summercamp --> waka --> Roo -->> liver failure. fahk Yea!
Add me too. I'm at about 75% right now. I write a little bit for an online music site so I can get tickets to cover stuff sometimes, and if I can get tickets for free and cover the event, I'll be 100%. Great additions!

HECK YEAH!! Ft. Morgan is totally out in east Jesus nowhere...it's pretty but Orange Beach is your best bet between the two.
Gulf State Park (for the campers) creeps me out because there's an old story about a guy named 'Catman' who snuck into people's tents and killed them...so I know it's not true but I'm not doing the camping thing. Splurge a little and stay on the beach--I'm sure it'll make your trip exponentially more enjoyable.
I would definitely suggest staying in Foley or Gulf Shores. There's a ton of cheaper condos and hotels. Driving from Foley might be a hassle, though, considering the massive amount of traffic.
BEACH EXPRESS, people--it has a toll bridge and it takes you into Orange Beach but there's never much traffic on it and it runs parallel to Hwy 59.
All in all, find a group of people and pool money for a low-cost condo, then just shuttle. Traffic gets bad REALLY quickly down there!

Looks like I've about convinced my Dad what a rockin b-day present this would be for me. ;D
I also tied in the fact that it could be my little brother's graduation present b/c he really wanted to go to 'Roo but it conflicts with his Senior trip to Jamaica.
And... also my dad promised his girlfriend's daughter he would take her to the beach this summer.
Stoked. So very stoked. Probably going to go the condo or beachside hotel route, it doesn't sound like camping is even going to be a very viable option.
