Haha. Yeah, but I said "too," which still includes KoL. Sorry Charlie.
No need to apologize. Everyone's entitled to their opinions. I just like to back mine up with objective claims
I don't think objectivity is possible to support my claim that they "suck." How about this? To me, they suck. I don't like 'em, so they suck. I don't like sour cream either, so it sucks, too.
I don't care why they changed their sound, I just know that I don't like their sound. I don't care if they are capable of producing a "classic" album until they actually do so. I don't care what their record company "forced" them to do and why they did it. I don't like the end result...so I think they suck.
I'm also a KoL fan. I picked up their first album when it was released and have been hooked ever since. I saw them live at a small club in 2005 and they were excellent. I saw them in a small arena in 2009 and they were good but not great. I don't love their new sound but I don't hate it either. I'll be happy if they play Roo but don't want them as a headlner. Hey, at least Superfly isn't bringing in Nickleback, right?
I give you a crunchy not only because you like KoL, or that you're from NC like myself...but because you have No Code as your avatar....KUDOS!!!

Hey, dto! Epic fail.
In your rush to adopt poses of indignation over comments concerning the hilarious suggestion that Kings of Leon junk a headlining slot at Bonnaroo, their juvenile antics and workman like profiteering, you've captured the exact sentiment so many on this thread have attempted to justify with words. For, in your RCA Records-boardroom-worthy indictment of good taste, you reminded us that Kings of Leon are making music for the sole purpose of selling records..."this(arena crowds) drove the sound of the music they were making". Some people don't consider this a good thing, dto. Some of us were lighthearted in our attempts to dismiss this ridiculous example of the "Coldplay model" in favor of more original, here's a word, "artists" with something to say. But your soapbox, allows for proper appreciation of this "young, cool" band, with the ""it" status" all us kids wanna hear. Nobody hates Kings of Leon because they're popular. This is why people like them! And if you're into following what's popular, what's not to like? Lyrics with the hormonal awareness of a 16-year old, major-label influenced overproduction, and douchebag persona...Kings of Leon epitomize everything I've learned about popularity since junior-high. So, DTO, let's not consider any of your hamfisted electioneering in favor of Kings of Leon replacing what could be a potentially enjoyable headlining Bonnaroo act.

...but you're the head cheerleader for Gaga on the farm. So you just plain stink.
Actually I am the head cheerleader for non musical snobbishness, and actually listening to a band and deciding whether or not you like them before unilaterally declaring they suck.

Indeed I do.......
It's mind-boggling really, because that means many of the people over here bashing KOL somehow think she has more talent....which I quite frankly don't comprehend.

Talent has nothing to do with popular music nowadays, so they both suck.
Thing is KoL are posers, insisting upon insulting our intelligence. Gaga is, at least, unabashed about her place in pop music. Therefore, she is fun to listen and dance to. KoL are so hypocritical that the music gets lost in the marketing, and I just end up with a headache.

There we go, I don't mind pop music much, except when it comes in a package marked Rock and Roll, wrapped with a 300$ belt, and whatever metrosexual gear they can find.

You've got to be kidding with the $300 belt comment! Her stage shows are the height of wanna-be artsy pretentiousness. Everything about it screams failed fashion show.
And how are KOL any more poser than she is? She failed at real music, so she dressed up like the gay black guy from Mannequin and came out with this crap. And the fact that she's unashamed of her crap doesn't make it any less crap. IMHO of course.
I poop on Gaga and her supporters. And I'll happily take any custies you wanna keep throwin at me for it.
I don't necessarily think Gaga's music is better than Kol's but KOL is sooooo boring live and Gaga's live show is a spectacle.
I keep hearing about the spectacle this, the spectacle that. Are we booking bands based soley on some flash? You remember who supposedly had an amazing spectacle? KANYE FUCKING WEST! We were never supposed to forget, and yet a few years later we get the same pop-trash some producer came up except this time it's an autotuned tranny and now we're rolling over to take it up the fanny. I dont get it folks, do you not care where all that ticket money goes?
I should probably let this roll off my feathers, but...c'mon "no-talent"? I realize you were quoting office space, but I hear this sentiment every time someone doesn't like a particular artist and in most cases, it's just plain ludicrous.
I understand ya not liking KOL -- everyone is entitled to their opinion. Hell, I can't stand Lady Gaga (I'm pretty convinced she's Marilyn Manson, post-op), but you'll never hear me attack her talent level until such time I've publicly established my capabilities as superior to hers (or at least, on par).

This is interesting because I find KoL to be completely talentless in comparison to the talent of numerous other Bonnaroo performers past and presrent.
Maybe you could highlight some of KoL's talents which I may have overlooked amidst the shameless marketing to undiscerning, per-pubescent teens, the sell-high approach to profit since their first record(see FIFA '04), and greater attention to wardrobe than songwriting. Maybe the fans at Reading found KoL boring(or worse) due to the fact that they were sold a talented ROCK act, and just got actors instead....
Anyway, I loved Youth... , but each record has plotted a downward progression in rock, originality, production and songwriting, while profits have soared in the opposite direction.

So, please, what am I missing?
Why focus so much energy into your personal dislike of a band?
