Yeah the ESPN graphic absolutely showed it as an exchange of Reggie for three SRPs lol what are they doing over there.
they’re dumping him and probably Zeke Nnaji to be more competitive in KCP’s free agency. They can find vet min guys who are better than Reggie or Nnaji
Sent THJ’s ass to the shadow realm and I for one am thrilled! Can now give Derrick Jones Jr the full MLE and hopefully retain him. And Quentin Grimes is basically just another Josh Green, which isn’t an awful thing to have
We traded Dice and Larry Nance Jr and a couple firsts for Dejounte Murray. Maybe it’s a step one in a series. Ingrams max is going to be massive so we would probably move him. We still need a starting big. Maybe CJ is getting moved as well? Idk.
They’re building a quality front office and organization. Trajan Langdon got the promotion from #2 with the Pelicans to #1 in Detroit. Best of luck to him. He brought our cap guy Michael Blackstone along and jacked us for shooting coach guru Fred Vinson who was our shooting specialist coach for about 12-13 years. More power and success to all them.
Shits going hot and heavy since the free agency period started at 5pm today. I’m wondering if by delaying our trade for Murray we aren’t going to expand it. We still had some sign and trade options with Naji and Jonas but Valanciunas signed with Washington on a 3/30MM deal and Naji signed with Dallas for 3/27MM. Naji will fuck some shit up but hustle like a mfer to get shit back. Nice bench player I wish we could have gotten something for. Also Swin Cash is now the highest level woman executive in the NBA so good for us

Very happy with the magic offseason. Added KCP and re-signed some important bench players. Would have been completely fine if we did nothing. Another growing year for Paolo and Franz.

feel like the Isaac contract is a tough pill to swallow. he's good when healthy but he's a 1 tool guy who is never healthy.

some scattered thoughts… It’s a little risky. Could be a big W. He’s weirdly still a high upside guy this late into his career. I’m curious to see if they want him to take over WCJ’s role in the starting lineup at some point this season. He’s already a legit DPOY player and was integral to us being a top 5 defense last season. Most importantly, I would have been sad and nervous if we lost him next summer.
Sounds like the contract is frontloaded to take advantage of the Magic's current cap space.
Y1-27 mil Y2-16.2 mil Y3-14.9 mil Y4-13.7 mil Y5-12.6 mil
By year 3, it's less than 10% of cap. That's not all that bad for an impact sixth man and defender of his caliber. Very quickly becomes a good contract after this season, when they had the money to spend.
