Good move on Golden State to take all the THUNDER from the Cavs championship by drafting Durant. Now the team that isn't the defending champion gets all the hype going into next year. Say what you want about LeBron leaving the Cleveland dumpster fire six years ago, but you can't not also critique this move. I just hope this evolves the Warrior offense beyond shooting nothing but threes all game. And I also hope that Durant is as useful to Golden State as Jimmy Graham has been to Seattle.
EDIT: And now if Cleveland adds Wade and/or Cousins, we might as well not even have a regular season. It'll just be Warriors v Cavs Round 3. RIP NBA parity

The Siena vs. UAlbany game is tomorrow night. For the first time ever, the game will be played on the UAlbany campus. In an arena that holds around 4,500, roughly half of the crowd that normally comes to the game. They're charging $47 per ticket and then $40 to park.
These are two no name mid-major schools. Neither make it passed the first round of the NCAA normally, if they make it at all. This is fucking blowing my mind.

How does a travesty like this occur when the vote isn't purely fan-driven? Not my team, not my guy, but how was Westbrook not the #1 or #2 vote getter? We all know the All Star game is a joke, but does the lineup have to be?
I mean Harden is having a better season that Westbrook. I think it should have been Harden and Westbrook but the Warriors are the best team and regardless of if it should matter or not, team success always plays a part.
It's still 50% of the vote, which is still the majority when you look at who gets a vote. So, it's still pretty easy for Steph and Kyrie to win a popularity vote than it is for Westbrook, and profoundly, Thomas from the Celts. That might be the real travesty.

Was at the double OT thriller in Blacksburg Sunday night. Lucky to be at 2 of the 5 biggest games in Cassell Coliseum history (other being in 2011 when VT knocked off #1 Duke).
How ya Pels fans liking the addition of DeMarcus Cousins? The Sacramento Kings are officially the Cleveland Browns of the NBA now!! At one point they had Cousins, Hassan Whiteside, and Isaiah Thomas.. Anyways, a Cousins/AD frontcourt could certainly push GSW to 6 or 7 in the first round.

as a sixers fan i love the trade. we have the right to swap with the kings this year, and their first rounder next year, all for just taking on the cap of carl landry, jason thompson and nik stauskas.

I like the deal from a value perspective and from the point of view that they want to win now and not waste the entirety of Davis' second contract. What I'm not sure of is how he fits the team. Gentry prefers that faster ball movement and the longer range shooting game (ala GSW). He hasn't really featured a methodical offence (e.g. similar to what we had with Monte Williams) or the low post game that much. Obviously they'll get it inside to Davis from time to time, but that's not really been a feature here.
So I'm in wait and see mode to see if this all works out. I didn't want to lose Hield or Galloway, and Tyreke was out after this season anyway. But I think we have improved on paper.

You think you're better on paper? You added the best center in the league and gave up your 23 year old average rookie and a mid-first round draft pick.

I think you mean a Jokic/Faried front court will beat the Warriors in the first round.

Haha. Maybe. We have 3 games left against the Nuggets, so we have the ability to make up the 3 loss difference. As for your post before that, yeah. I know we are better. But Demps/Gentry need to be able to use him. They have a checkered record here so far. So I'm being cautious.

Now that I know I am moving to Asheville, I have my eye on the opening weekend games in Greenville for the national tournament. If Virginia Tech or Cincinnati is playing for a spot in the sweet 16 on Sunday, I may try to snag a ticket or two on craigslist or StubHub...if I see anything reasonably priced.

Huge win vs Monmouth
It was a great game. Nico Clareth saved our ass. I hope he didn't do too much to his ankle, though.
It's been too long since I've heard the Times Union Center get that loud. Here's hoping for an even louder crowd against Iona tonight.
