Well, I think Friday is a full day this year. But they held back a lot of artists this year. I thought we usually got closer to 15 or 20 on the initial announcement. Either way, LCD, St. Vincent and Pavement are enough to convince me.
So does this mean Modest Mouse won't be performing a full album on Friday (the moon and anrtarctica??? - wishful thinking)?
Usually they announce the album when they announce the artists. I'd frankly be disappointed if MM got one of those slots. I think they tend to not be good live in festival settings.
And a correction to my earlier post, I guess they are starting at 4 this year. So thats 2 or 3 extra hours.
As a wise man once told me, THERE IS NO TRY...JUST DO! ;D
Got my tickets today. Might as well have just signed my check over to Ticketmaster this month.
There's no guarantee that they're going to do the "Don't Look Back", band-plays-their-seminal-album thing. Last year they did "Write the Night" where all the ticketholders got to vote on which songs the Friday bands played.
Since they're starting the fest earlier on Friday this year, I wonder what they have planned.

True, but I still expect some sort of collaboration with ATP since Pavement is curating the ATP fest and is headlining just like FLips did last year.

If it's anything like last year, it'll be write the night on Friday. The Flaming Lips thing was to try and have a special set from Flips instead of the normal setlist from them, but they ended up playing the same set they would do for the rest of the year.
And chico I think you're confusing ATP's right now. Pavement is curating one of the festivals in England, not the one in New York. Flips being at both ATPNY and P4K last year was a coincidence, they've collaborated in the past, but severed ties last year.
Did they not bill the write the night as part of ATP? I must've just made some assumptions because the Dont Look Back nights were always ATP and the FLips curated NY and headlined P4k. Way too incestuous for us part-timers.
Okay, so Friday is not Write the Night. It's a full day of music beginning at 3 p.m., according to the Pitchfork website.
And, they've sold out of 3 day passes already. Just goes to show that this year it seems that people want a cheaper festival over the 4-day camping bonanza. It's more cost-effective if you can crash on a friend's couch and go to a festival than worry about camping for 4 days.
Does anyone know how easily procured these tickets tend to be close to the fest (on craigslist or anything) if/when they sell out? I'm heavily considering Pitchfork but buying tickets now probably isn't going to happen and I've heard that they always sell out since it's a pretty small festival.

They can get pretty pricey. I sold an extra a couple of years ago and was told the 3-days were scalping waaaaaaaaaaay over what the three individual days would have cost.
Ah, okay; thanks for the replies. In that case: any idea when more bands are expected to be announced? I may be able to solidify my plans by this weekend but with my luck they'll be released tomorrow and be sold out by the time Saturday rolls around...
Just bought my tickets for Saturday and Sunday. Really looking forward to LCD Soundsystem, St. Vincent, and MOTHERFUCKING PAVEMENT!!!!! $40/day is a steal. Holding out on Friday to see the additions. Love Modest Mouse, but I've seen them twice
The artists joining this year's already-stacked bill are: Canadian guitar battalion Broken Social Scene, Animal Collective's own Panda Bear, infamous garage-soul power trio the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, underground hip-hop warrior El-P, West Coast indie heartbreakers Girls, Jersey ragers Titus Andronicus, Brooklyn synth-rock crew Bear in Heaven, Indiana rap bruiser Freddie Gibbs, glam-garage upstarts the Smith Westerns, L.A. roller-rink funk visionary Dâm-Funk, experimental psych band Cave, and krautrockers Allá.
