Just curious on this tent only idea. Where do your cars reside (close or far away)? and how do you haul the essentials (beach wagon)?
Your car resides wherever they happen to park you. That could be within a 5 or 35 minute walk; it all depends. I camped tent only one year and we packed light, but still ended up having to make 2 trips to get everything. I think the taxis may be available for transporting stuff.

Looking forward to meeting up with the Inforoo gang again! I have used a fold up garden cart to move my supplies. Perhaps you can rent one somewhere. You will be very lucky to be 10 minutes from the main entrance. My car has been parked 20 to 25 minutes away. A cart makes the Monday departure a lot easier too.
Thanks for the info. If BFE POD then may be tent only. If nothing else I will try to make it over to the brunch - but if the FLIPS play Thursday late night I cannot promise anything.
I saw the pre set up tents for rent and I thought hey......that might be a good idea. But then I saw they are asking $750 a tent!!! Are they serious? I'm beginning to get irritated with them. The fact that they are asking over $1000 to rent a tent for 3 nights is completely insane. Or maybe I'm wrong. Holy Hell!

I really hope they don't axe the tent-only altogether for the pre-set up tents. This is the first year I plan on camping tent-only. Has anyone showed up on Wednesday night, parked, and headed to tent-only? If so, what time do they let people out of the James Bond sites on Thursday morning?

I would imagine the area for the pre set up tents will be very small, especially considering the outrageous prices they want.
Alisa! Tara! Jay! Kris and his lovable Afghan! Yeah! Just like old times! How many years have we been doing this? Miss you guys and can't wait 'til 'roo.
I think Jason is coming too... this year is really coming together! ;D ;D ;D ;D
That would be so cool. I've started a new job that's kept me hella busy so I've not had the time to be on the board much lately, but I'll be there and we're definitely going to have Camp Inforoo. The theme idea sound cool, I hope someone runs with it; my vote is for "Drunken Idiots" but I realize that's not the most creative thing.

Does anyone know the maximum size cart you can use to haul your gear to tent-only? I'm considering buying or building one, but I'll be fightin' mad if they try to take my stuff. One of my buddies told me that he saw other people's carts being taken last year.

I've never seen anyone have a cart taken. That being said, I wouldn't bring a monster cart just b/c it will be very hard to pull (could be muddy, probably willl be hot, will be rutty). I'd rather have a smaller cart that takes 2 trips but doesn't kill me than a large one that gives me a coronary before I get to the camp.

that was me. I saw someone get a radio-flyer style wagon taken away @ the gate last year. I thought it was super lame at the time but since no one else has seen this I'm hoping it was a one-time thing by some summer's eve.

So excited to see everyone!! This will be my 4th year in camp inforoo... 2006 (2007 went vip big mistake!), 2008, 2009, 2010.
Speaking of camp inforoo... I'm planning on coming into town on Wednesday, buying some supplies and possibly snoozing at Walmart, then heading in when/if they open up the gates that night. Going to try to head over to tent only when the sun comes up (probably isn't wise to try to get over there in the dark!). So I can give you guys my number and vice versa if you want to check in early and see where I've claimed some space.
Leo - I will definitely not be drunk so feel free to call

That cart is awesome but $280 is a bit pricy for me.

I'm geeking out here, but thought it would be good to share that sunrise will actually happen at 60 degrees East-Northeast during roo in Manchester. That means the sun will be peeking into the side of your tent by 5am if you orient your shade due East. (Due East is 90 degrees)

Wow, that's totally geeky! I love it, +1.
EDIT: Not only geeky, but spot on. Here's a few minutes after sunrise 10 June 2010 in Manchester;

I set up my tent and shade with a compass a few years ago and everyone thought I was gnuts. The next morning, a few scooted their tents to line up with mine. It certainly does make a difference.
Sorry if this sounds kinda dumb, but which way should your tent face? What do you mean by orienting your shade due east?
I might try to think about this when positioning my tent, but then again, I also want to work out a method of using my car, tarp, gazebo and tent in a way to fully maximize space and shade, so who knows what direction I'll end up in.

Put your shade on the East in order to keep the sun from beating down on you at the ass crack of dawn.
that makes sense now that I think about it. sun rises from the east, so face the tent doors east, then put the shade in front of the tent so that when the sun rises...it hits the shade structure 1st and not heating the tent up immediately, and you also avoid getting sun right in your eyes right as you walk out hopefully. yay! I get it now!! :-D lol

Basically what you want to do is orient your tent and how it's shaded so that you'll get the most shade vs. the ecliptic (Sun's path in the sky). Check this out, visual aid might help: www-istp.gsfc.nasa.gov/stargaze/Secliptc.htm
What you want to avoid is having to stare into the Sun when you're getting out of your tent in the morning. What I always try to do is orient the right side of my tent to ENE with the door facing north. I don't really worry about WNW in the evening because I'm never inside the tent for more than a few minutes around sunset. If you're gonna use your car for shade, try to set your tent up on the west side of your car with your tent door facing NNW. You'll get a bit of extra sun around sunset, if you're there. Most aren't.
Looks like I'll be joining Camp Inforoo for the first time. I guess I'm going solo this year. I feel more comfortable knowing I can camp close to Centeroo with people I can get aquainted with before I get there. I'm going to head out on Wednesday, camp in pod 1 then get up early Thursday to move all my stuff to tent only.
About what time does Camp Inforoo get set up on Thursday morning?
