27 hours from arizona, and we're taking 6 days to make the trek there, and 5 to get back. there are so many exciting things to see, getting to roo will be an adventure in itself!
not sure about hours but last year we left from north jersey/nyc on wendseday at dawn, and got to the gate mid-thursday. we also had no map since we all assumed the other person had a map. and of course we all decided that it would be an adventure to continue going mapless. all i can say is that we winded up on 33, or 55, some really long road through the montains (about 30 miles or so of rural, riding on cliffs road), but in the end it got us to an entrance with very few people, and we got a decent camping spot. So trusting the republicans for that short cut wasn't that bad.
i plan on leaving NY on sometime on wed. afternoon and plan to arrive dawn on thursday morning...probably about 14 hours. nothing like driving all night and then see the sun come up when we finally reach tennessee.

Our neighbor last year drove all the way from Maine by himself. I don't think I could do that! All we have is a short 4-5 hour drive, depending on traffic. All of you who are traveling overnight, please please be careful!
