I’d never watch baseball anyway. Just funny to act like your team is so good that the fact that they won by cheating doesn’t matter.
I get a strong sense that you have no clue what you're talking about haha. I was just saying if they win this year it kinda screws the whole "they only won by cheating" thing, along with the fact that they only stole signs at home, had a great away record, weren't probably able to do the trash can thing in the WS, etc.

They were and are a very good team, regardless.
except no one said they’re not good. Moving the goal posts, they cheated to win.

Can’t see the Braves getting by the Dodgers, but a Braves, Rays series would be awesome.
I mean, I'm a Dodgers fan, so that's not what I want to happen, but I've come to the conclusion that the baseball gods hate me and with MLB playoffs being so volatile, some random crap will occur.

I don't see how people are trying to debate that the Astros aren't just a bunch of cheating bastards. Yes, they were a good team already in 2017, but they still cheated whether they needed to or not. Also, even if they happen to win this year, that doesn't prove anything. They were a sub .500 team that should have never even made the playoffs if not for the crazy expanded post season format this year. And it doesn't change what they did before. Screw them.
Lol they're a sub .500 team because their best pitcher missed most of the season.
Yankees for all their talent won 4 more games and even with Cole couldn't get it done.
If we were to win, or go to the series, it doesn't change the fact we cheated. But it certainly proves we're a good team. We have won two series against better teams. It's not our fault the twins and A's couldn't get the job done.

Injuries happen to every team tho. That's no reason to justify how crazy it is that a sub .500 team made the playoffs. Of course they would have been better if Verlander was healthy but that's like saying the Warriors only missed the playoffs because Curry and Thompson were injured. Yeah and...?
Injuries happen and it's unfortunate. But if teams don't have the depth to withstand those injuries then they are who their record says they are. And as I mentioned before baseball playoffs are volitile and basically a crapshoot, so anyone can advance, especially during a short series.

well it wasn't volatile in the NL so that certainly isn't the only reason. If the Brewer's were taking on the dodgers no one would give a shit. Everyone outside of LA/SD in the west was marginally better than the Astros and each other. The Cardinals made the playoffs and didn't even play a full shortened season.
If they win three consecutive series that's a good team. Four even better.
The warriors example is stupid they had one of the worst records in the league. Even if Cole was our Durant.
They had an expanded playoffs lol did the Astros cheat so that that happened? Did the Astros do COVID? They cheated in 2017. What are you complaining about now, exactly? That there is a pandemic? That sucks! I agree!
They're probably going to lose to the Rays anyway because of pitching, between Verlander, losing Cole to the Yankees, and their bullpen just not being good. Nothing to do with whether they cheated in 2017. They have an inferior manager now. That's about the only thing that's changed. If they're still cheating right now, I mean, bravo. That's commitment.

Why are you equating the pandemic to the expanded playoffs? The two are not related. MLB didn't HAVE to expand the playoffs just because they had a shortened season. They could have continued with the regular post season format.
What I'm "complaining" about is that the expanded playoffs suck because they allow these teams that doesn't deserve to be there an opportunity. And I'm not just talking about the Hou. I would have been just as irritated with the cardinals or brewers advancing. My beef with the Astros is, and always will be, that they did in fact cheat and that's a bitch move... but please continue sticking up for them if you must.

They absolutely are related. There's no way you don't understand that, so you're lying now. And even if they weren't, it's not on the Astros that they happened.
I'll continue to stick up for my team when people say nonsensical stuff surrounding them and nephew about them. You're welcome. Best of luck to Kershaw getting that monkey off his back this year.
Lol the playoffs were expanded to account for the variance of the season which generally plays out that the best teams win because of the length. You shorten the season it changes things.

MLB has been looking for an excuse to expand the playoffs and unfortunately they used the pandemic for a reason. So yeah they're related in that aspect. But my point stands about the expanded playoffs not having to be instituted just because there was a 60 game season. It was a dumb idea. And I never blamed the Astros for that, I blame MLB. Houston just got to benefit from it.
And I'm not getting any nonsensical part about pointing out the cheating from 2017 or the fact that they benefited from a dumb rule this year. But I do know that fans are quick to try to rationalize and justify stuff in their minds when it comes to their team.

Of course it changes things. That doesn't mean you have to go to the extreme and let half the league in the playoffs.
Lol ok man I'm sorry the MLB tried to account for the season being 3/8s as long as usual and the Astros won two playoff series, going 2-0 and 3-1. What a travesty. What a shame that a team who was able to vastly outmatch two ostensibly better teams made the playoffs in a shortened season. I understand why you're mad, and I hope you stay that way forever.
They were 29-31. They shoulda never had the opportunity. If you don't get that part by now, I'm done trying to convince you. Rationalize away.
I'm not mad, lol, but I'm guessing you are given the score right now.
Oh wow. 29-31. I wonder if they could have maybe improved their record if given another 102 games. Almost like it's a long season and teams go through slumps. Wild.
You're the one trying to rationalize away the fact that it's the third round of the playoffs. You said that it wouldn't mean anything if they won the whole thing. You hate the Astros. That doesn't change who *deserves to be here*.
Yes I hate the Astros. Don't think I'm alone there. But that hate has nothing to do with my criticism of the playoff format this year.
Good luck coming back from that 0-2 hole.
Your criticism of the playoff format is goofy, so I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt that you're just a hater and not actually so foolish that you don't understand why they expanded the playoffs in a season where they played a 60-game regular season.
Good luck to the Dodgers. I like LA and Atlanta as cities. I'd be happy with either winning.
Astros should have started cheating before the ninth. Idk why they waited so long in this game.
Beuhler ate breakfast at the same long table my wife and I were eating at in a Des Moines hotel. He was starting opening day for Oklahoma City against the Iowa cubs that day. That’s why I pull for him—seemed like a nice enough guy. Of course, his days of eating free breakfast with the masses are probs behind him now. He was fun to watch pitch. Very dominant that day. Also got to see a “switch” pitcher that day named Venditte I think. Not something you see often.

I can see it. Not that my grandparents' neighborhood isn't nice, but it's not crazy, so he does seem pretty humble.
