Quite a national siblings day for the Naylor bros. Down 5-0 in the 4th, they homered in the same in the same inning to cut the lead to 5-3. Then Josh had a game tying RBI double in the 10th and Bo walked it off with a single.

I know, I know, small sample size, it's April, blah blah blah... ...but what the hell is up with the Guardians, 16-6 for the best record in baseball? Josh Naylor is mashing and Kwan and Jimenez are off to good starts, but Jose Ramirez has yet to get hot, they don't have a true centerfielder on the roster and have been mixing in matching there and in right, Bieber is out for the year, Triston Mckenzie is pitching with a torn UCL, and they've had other significant pitching injuries. This is the team whose entire outfield hit something like 16 homeruns last year, and as a team were last in the majors by a lot.
No one expected this team to do anything but they're scoring a ton of runs and pitching well.
Congrats to the Guardians but the AL central is really putrid. You can only beat the teams that are on the schedule but woof that's a bad division.
Yes, the AL Central is looking pretty weak again. Belittle them all you want for being in a bad division, but the Guardians have only played five games in the division. They're 6-4 against the East, 8-2 against the West, and 1-1 against the best team in the NL after a great 11 inning win over the Braves tonight. This makes me think they'll really look good when they actually start playing more divisional games.
I've never had any interest in the MLB draft, but the Guardians have the first pick this year, and Charlie Condon is a freaking BEAST. They could still try to completely corner the market on middle infielders, which they've been doing while completely ignoring anyone who hits for any power or plays outfield, but Condon should have #1 just about nailed down now.
The White Sox may legitimately be one of the five worst teams ever.
This may actually not be hyperbole. It seems crazy to me that they can be that bad though. Weren't they supposed to be an up and coming young team 2-3 years ago, that was supposed to take a step and compete for a playoff spot by now? How did they take such a drastic turn straight into the latrine?

I wasn't belittling them. I was mostly going for "it's April" plus a bit of "the rest of the central is so bad that even if the Guardians cool down they should be able to coast to division champs". It's a good team in a bad division.
For whatever reason I like the FLA guy Caglianone better then Condon. Provided they drop the pitching part and just have him focus on 1b.

All good, I wasn't trying to be aggressive. I have to remember not to get excited, because yeah, it's still April. I just wasn't expecting the Guards to even compete this year, since they hit for NO power last year and basically did nothing in the off season but resign backup catcher Austin Hedges, who is a fun goof but doesn't hit his weight. I swear it's a mediocre roster, at best, but winning makes me pleased as punch.
I'd be a liar if I said I knew anything about college players, other than I just saw that scouts are calling Condon a unicorn and a generational college player. The nice thing about a college draftee like him is it shouldn't take him long to make the majors, which makes him exciting. Predicting what most baseball draft prospects will end up doing requires a crystal ball, because so many top guys never even make the bigs, and often take 3-4 years to do it, unlike in other sports. So I need to temper my enthusiasm with this, too.
It's been fun seeing the Braves. Man, they're good. I've never been a huge fan of interleague play, but that's a team I wouldn't mind seeing more, assuming we could hang with them.
