Saw it again in Peter King's MMQ. The actual quote, "I could have gotten more, whatever, who cares? If $85 million is not enough to take care of my family and other generations of my family, then I'm stupid.''
After watching the replay I find it impossible to believe that Lackey didn't square up and drill Cervelli but I also find it impossible that he would do it to start off an inning. I love soxyanks.
The game wasn't even high scoring last night and it still took four and a half hours. Ridiculous.
That's about normal for those two. It's obnoxious.
Obviously I like it when the Yanks win but I can understand why ppl hate the length of Yanks/Sox games. Both teams look at a lot of pitches and, when they get to a two-strike count, foul off a half-dozen before the at-bat is over.
Went to the Sox game today, which went nearly four hours. Ended 12-7, had one huge inning for Boston where they scored eight runs and caused two pitching changes. Still, 3 hrs 47 min for a nine inning baseball game?

Thanks for the responses guys.
The Yankees and Orioles are still playing right now, 12:50 EST. There was a four hour rain delay. I think this is the emptiest I've ever seen a Yankees home game since I was a toddler and they sucked.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
Since we're talking about who the slowest teams are, who are the quickest?
Gotta be the Phillies right?
Any National League games I would imagine. Down the line the hitters are less powerful, so by the 7th, 8th, and 9th batter the lineup goes pretty quick. Add in good pitching and that speeds it up on the defensive side. So I guess any NL team with a combo of good pitching and poor hitting.
Giants have a good pitching staff and tend to be in low scoring games because their offense isn't great. Braves may fall in this troop too. Phillies have GREAT pitching, but decent offense.

Nyjer Morgan chirping at Carpenter, wonder what happened.
Wolf, Glennron?
Morgan being dumb. He struck out after a 10 pitch at bat and started saying something to Carpenter and threw his chew on the field. Carpenter just ignored him and Pujols started jogging over and the benches cleared. Nothing really happened but I think Morgan got ejected? Pretty stupid stuff.

He just immediately shouted "FUCK YOU" then I think he said in the dugout "he's a pussy." I thought it might have been provoked, so different then the guy who brought us plushdamentals.

Morgan's an idiot all the time, just much less obvious when his team as winning and he's doing well. It's been great since the fans are eating up everything he does, but tonight was a snippet of what happens if he's either A) on a shitty team or B) something happens that goes against him.
Really though, all I care about is why he thinks it's smart to sacrafice bunt over the runner in the first inning of a tie game. If he cuts that bullshit out he can do whatever he wants.
I'm still in awe that I'm going to witness my favorite baseball team win a division.

I'd be just thrilled with a split this series. Hamels >>>>>>>>>> Narveson, Halladay >>>>> Marcum, and Lee >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Randy Wolf (really don't like Wolf but that's another story), and Worley's obviously been good as well.
Also Brewers are going to have a tough fight with the Braves.
He's seemingly the only Brewers pitcher who's ERA is much butter than his peripherals would suggest, I think his FIP and xFIP are like a full run higher than his ERA. He's good as a 4 starter, but I don't really mind his performance. Going back to last year he's always had a problem with Lucroy for some reason and has to have his own catcher. Unless you're a knuckleballer, you don't need a personal catcher. He's also not good enough to warrant one in general. He always whines about close pitches, points to the first base ump to appeal check swings that aren't close, etc. He totally seems like the type of guy who wore two separate color coordinated polos in 2005 with the outer one's collar popped.
I'm also annoyed that the Brewers gave him a three year deal and that they won't trade him this offseason, which should be obvious IMO. These last two obv. aren't his fault but it still bugs me.

It's weird with the Brewers right now, they need to win now really with Fielder leaving. This is their year to do something, but the NL is stacked this year.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if the Diamondbacks pass up the Brewers, meaning the Brewers would get the Phillies instead. All but three of the Diamondbacks remaining games are against garbage teams, add to the fact they've been playing very well and the Brewers haven been coming back down to Earth the last week or two.
I suppose I'd rather have 'em face the Braves, but the Brewers would have a better chance against the Phillies in a 5 game series as opposed to 7.

I believe the NLDS is Oct 1st and 2nd (3rd off), 4th and 5th (6th off), and 7th. So yeah, he'd have 5 days off instead of 4.
This page of this thread has been a 1-on-1 conversation. There have to people other people who still care about baseball at this point in the season. Weren't there a bunch of Phillies fans in here at the beginning of the season? Any fans of the Rangers? Tigers?
