I merely stated that steroid users should not be because they do not have C-I-S. Are there players in the HOF that also have questionable character? Yes, of course. Plenty. Should the character clause be taken out of the voting process? Some argue yes, some argue no. Whats in the past is done, those players are in. That doesnt mean that current era guys who cheat, etc should make it just because those that came before them did.
I'm also curious as to how you came to statement that you arent surprised I'm making this argument? Ive only been on this forum a little over two weeks and now you know my thought process?

You got all that hippy-dippy "Bonnaroo, as I understand it, is a state of being" nonsense going on. I mean that in the nicest possible way. Your heart is cold and cynical like the rest of us.
Nonsense ? My heart is cold and cynical for 361 days a year. However, those 4 days on the farm give me hope that there is still some good left in humanity.

And that's actually pretty cool Balsalm. What exactly are you going to be doing?
It's an internship I applied for, and with my experience (Sports writer at the Akron Beacon Journal and ohio.com) and my connections (My Dad knows one of the guys who chooses the applicants for the internship) I'm feeling hopefully confident that I get the spot.
As for the actual work, I would be doing one of two things if I get the spot.
#1 would be researching and writing about baseball history and baseball artifacts to support the exhibits at the museum. Linking the artifacts and exhibits to American culture at the time and writing labels and plaques for new exhibits
#2 would be a PR type of thing, producing copy for the web site and magazine, assisting in research for publications, editing press releases, assembling press kits, etc.
Either one would be really cool as a baseball fanatic to work at the Hall of Fame and as an aspiring baseball writer it would be an incredible opportunity for my resume and future career
I would hope so, only a sociopath would root for that guy.
He is one of the biggest pieces of scum the league has. He's also the first person I am vehemently against making the HOF.
Bonds was a lock for the HOF before he ever juiced, so with him it's more that he ruined what would've been a Willie Mays-like career. A-Rod could've been special, but when he's juicing at age 23 there really wasn't that much time for him to build up HOF credentials before cheating. At least Bonds' skull didn't grow t*ts until he was in his 30's.
It's not so much "knowing" just that all the evidence favors him being clean. We'll likely never know, but hey, KGj was one of my favorite players ever. I still say that if he hadnt been hurt so much that he would have been the home run king.

That's quite the understatement. I took any year he played less than 150 games (which is what I'll deem a "full season's worth" of games taking out 12 for scheduled rest and random bumps/bruises) and using that as the benchmark he missed 509 games. ***
That is 3 FULL seasons worth of games.
Do I think Griffey could have hit 125 home runs and beaten out Hank Aaron before Bonds, and then hit at least 8 more to beat Bond? Considering that 244 of those games came in Griffey's early 30's when many speed/power guys just say "f*ck it" and try to crank out 40+ home runs because they're speed is gone.
Griffey was my favorite player growing up as well. There weren't any Mets worth a sh*t when I was in my formative years unless you want to count Bret Saberhagen, and I don't count him.
***I didn't include his final 3 seasons (2008 - 2010) because he wasn't playing full-time so calculating missed games isn't really accurate.

If all this is true he will come down as one of the biggest liars and cheats in the history of sports next to Lance Armstrong.
Eh, I wouldn't say it was cut short by any means. He's going to be 38 in April, been through a hell of a lot of surgery, has a Cy Young, couple championships. I'd say that's a well traveled career. Not trying to be a d*ck woobs, just saying don't feel too bad for the guy.
I didnt realize he was that old. I was thinking mid 30's. I'm a dummy.
One could make the argument though that if he wasnt ready to retire and wanted to play a few more years then his career was indeed cut short. Either way. Im a dummy

People always forget he didn't join the Cards until he was 28, and didn't pitch for them until he was 29 (sat out 2003 because of arm/shoulder issues, some sac burst in his shoulder, I believe). He had like 5 years in Toronto before coming to the NL to dominate.
Carp was one of those "ultimate competitor" guys so absolutely he would have liked to play a couple more years. This is really the only way to end his career IMO. He wasn't going to stop until his body stopped on him.
curious as to what you can deduce from me liking a player and that its sad to have a good career cut short?
It wasn't the "sad sad sad," it was you liking him.
And my point was you were seeming to pick and choose which players should be judged by the character and integrity clauses in regards to steroids, so it makes sense to me that you like Carpenter who is unquestionably a d*ckwad.
For the record I'm not glad he's hurt or anything, sucks for anyone that their career has to end that way and I hope he's healthy in retirement. That said, I'm not exactly shedding a tear for the guy.
