Hello all, we are looking for a new set of folding chairs. Currently we have two chairs and a umbrella for some shade. It does work well but the chairs after four years are showing some wear. So instead of waiting for failure I figured we would get a new set.
These are mah favorite, I've got one and seriously considering getting one or two more just because it's such a great little chair. Low to the ground, so you shouldn't get hassled going into Roo, and very comfortable:
Edit: By the way, I've got one of those Kelsyus chairs, and while they are comfortable they are also a bit unstable if you're on slightly uneven ground or have been drinking a bit, due to their tripod leg configuration. However, they can be a lot of fun to bring for others to sit in. Grab a beer, sit back, and watch people fall out of that chair. haha something to consider :]

i'm thinking about purchasing one of the REI chairs. But, I've heard it can be a pain to carry with the strap. Also, let's say I'm in centeroo for the day/night because I'm camped at BFE. I might sit down on the chair for some downtime between sets or at shows I don't want to be dancing for. But, what if I want to be "in the mix" for a headliner or late night set? Is it a burden having to hold the chair when you're in a dense crowd?

if you have to ask.... you probably already know the answer.
you dont want to be that guy with the chair in the middle of the dense crowd, in the dark, with people walking into you, tripping over you, spilling beers on you.
if you have a chair, stay in the back - better for you and better for people without a chair.

I bought one of the kelsyus low chairs w/ the canopy last year and did not care for it at all.
As mentioned the tripod setup is a bit unstable but the bigger problem for me is it isn't made for someone who is 6'2". I barely fit in the damn thing and you could rule out the shade part of it since my head was sticking too far up to make that worthwhile. They also don't fold up as small as I would like
They take up a lot less room and will provide a place to sit in case of mud. Otherwise I'll just be chilling on the ground and the stool is small enough to not be in the way.

I bought a pair for my cousin and I like the one below. It could use more butt cushioning but it will save your back if your just planning on sitting on the ground! We just used some rope and tied them off to our backpacks. Didn't even notice they were there!
i dont like to carry things but i do take two of the really cushy stadium chairs justin case. i never carry them in because they are heavy and i dont watn to deal with them. i like to walk around a lot and move and i might take it to go up front on a whim. no way i want a big ass chair on me while im waiting upfront.
i also have one of the ones like the little lightweight one above. i can actually use that one as a backpack because it has pockets on it..

This is what I use as well. Got mine from Campmor on one of their hot deals for something ridic like $7. They currently have one for $10.
I'll fold mine in half and bungee it to my backpack. Keeps it close enough so it's not much more bulky than my pack. Big fan.
AND if you shop through ebates, you get 4.5% back for Campmor. If you don't know about ebates, you need to learn. It's the best thing ever. You just go there first and use their links and then it's all automatic. Completely free to use and a check will come every quarter.
just bought that low slung REI chair. it was really comfortable, but a bit heavy. I will be strategic when I bring it to Centeroo, if I am there for over 4 hours, I will bring it.

Ditto the Crazy Creek/stadium chairs. Like DCbee, I can bungee it to my backpack so i can get into the thick of things and not have a piece of metal hanging off me. You can sit upright, but I have also reclined in those bad boys and makes for a nice chill late afternoon set.

I don't think there's been a time when I was in Centeroo less than 4 hours. Last year, I just brought a blanket that has straps and strapped it onto my camelbak. I have to admit, even that was a pain in the ass. The small lightweight chairs look perfect. Wolfaroo has one of those as well and it's pretty sweet.

Hello again, last week we purchased the chairs that Bunny suggested. Then took them camping last weekend. They are great ! Much lighter then our older set up.
backpack and chair all in one. Low to the ground, reclining, can sleep in it. Enough storage for just about everything you need. very easy to pickup, fold and sling on the back and all your stuff is already there.
only draw back it that it is a steel frame, so not so comfy wearing it for too long, but very comfy sitting it.

They do look nice, my only concern would be that it does not fold up and you need to carry it as a backpack when not in use. This would not be good if you also use a camelbak. The last thing is the weight, amazon states the shipping weight of 10.4 pounds. The ones from REI are 5 pounds 9 ounces. We carried them on our shoulder for around a hour in the store prior to purchasing them, very comfortable.
I've had one of these that I've been using at roo since '06. It's the most amazingly awesome chair of all time.
She has cradled my ass in comfort through some epic voyages .
They have a new version out that looks pretty sweet. Has an aluminum frame now and some extra padding: www.gcioutdoor.com/wilderness.html
We have the basic version of the one posted by noripcord. It is pretty good, except no headrest, so when you relax and slouch down in the chair, your head is on the metal frame crossbar.
I grew up worshipping Rock and Roll like a religion. I know its shortcomings and strengths but have loved it unconditionally all the same since I was eight-years old. I ran away and joined the circus and honestly, I'm still as obsessed as I was as a boy. I'm not a kid anymore but I still remember how it felt and it doesn't really feel all that different to me now.

Are those stadium chairs comfortable on the ground? You're able to lean back and chill without any back problems or whatever? I've got some really low beach chairs, and took them last time I was at Bonnaroo, but yeah - what a pain to carry around, especially if you're going from stage to stage.
