On the topic of MMJ, I can't even listen to their albums right now because it really bums me out that I have to sell my pass to their NYC shows Now, I won't see them until Roo '11 probably
I'd be more bummed about this if I didn't have a killer fall planned for shows.
Sorry to hear about that. I had to give up when I went back to school. It's gonna be a few months, and honestly after seeing Jim solo, I'd be ok with not seeing them for awhile.

So you are not going to any of them at all?
I mean school is important, but still, plus no Brewery either?
If I lived closer, wasn't broke, or had more reliable transportation I'd be all over It Still Moves. I'd pass on Z and Evil Urges, though some songs ( Touch Me pt 2, Wordless Chorus) are so much better live than studio. It Still Moves would be amazing, all around.

I wish I could. It absolutly pains me to say "No I can't". Bonnaroo is up in the air for next year as is everything else in the world. We get Virgin though and I know a great beer store down the street from MPP. We can make our own Brewery in the Lot that day. Trust me.
A buddy of mine is trying to convince to come out there for a couple shows. I have a wedding in Chicago Saturday so Evil Urges is out. He says he'll pay for half my flight (roundtrip is $222 right now) if I come out Thursday and go see It Still Moves, then Z Friday night, then fly home early Saturday morning to get to the wedding.
The practical part of me says this is packing too much into a short amount of time. The MMJ fan in me says suck it up as these are once in a lifetime shows.

They were absolutely incredible last night. Watching the chemistry between Jim and the rest of the band on stage (especially Carl) reminded me of why I see live music. They played 2 and a half hours(!) and I even missed the first couple songs due to the 279 being closed and having to navigate Pittsburgh.
The venue was cool though, it was up against the side of the hill and right on the river. The sound was surprisingly on point for and outdoor amphitheater that's pretty much a parking lot. Unfortunately it looked way undersold. In a venue that could fit 6,000 there were maybe a little over 1,000 people there.
Here's the setlist 1. Rollin Back (intro)---> 2. The Way That He Sings 3. Off The Record 4. Anytime 5. Mahgeetah* 6. At Dawn* 7. Where to Begin 8. It Beats 4 U 9. Circuital 10. Golden 11. Wonderful (The Way I Feel) 12. Tonite I Want to Celebrate With You 13. I'm Amazed 14. Easy Morning Rebel* 15. Lay Low* 16. Carried Away 17. Dondante--->* 18. Smokin From Shootin--->* 19. (end of) Run Thru---> 20. Touch Me I'm Going To Scream Pt.2 ---------- 21. Wordless Chorus 22. Touch Me I'm Going To Scream Pt.1 23. Gideon* 24. Steam Engine* 25. One Big Holiday*
We got a very similar setlist two weeks ago and it was amazing. They never disappoint. Little bit different encore though:
Bermuda Highway Wordless Chorus Off The Record Steam Engine One Big Holiday
I'm pretty sure I didn't move an inch, blink or breathe throughout all of Steam Engine.
The only small issue I had with their set was they played just the end of Lay Low similar to what they're doing with Run Thru now. I think it works for Run Thru, but not so much with Lay Low. Still an awesome jam, but it needs the full song and buildup imo.
if you look i'm sure you'd see that nothing's really as it seems and soon enough you'd realize you promise more than you'll provide the substance that we're hoping for will always leave us needing more we're calloused til we cannot feel the only moments that were real
So I went to CMAC Saturday. New Pornos played first and surprised me by how on point they were live. Great set.
MMJ was great of course, but the set was 5 songs shorter, so I'm really glad I hit up that Pittsburgh show, which honestly felt like a special show.
The guitar jams are cool of course, but there are points when they just turn into a soul band and JJ turns into a white James Brown. Definitely a direction they should explore more.
Picked up this poster, probably one of the best designs I've seen in awhile. It'll go nicely with my Arcade Fire Poster from a few weeks ago.
Saw them in Philly last nite, a special show as usual. Big surprise was HONEST MAN (fuck yeah!). With the talk of an album drop in May, Bonnaroo seems like a definite right now.
Here's the setlist:
Rollin Back Intro The Way That He Sings Gideon Anytime Mahgeetah Golden Circuital It Beats 4 U Honest Man I'm Amazed Easy Morning Rebel Tonite I Want To Celebrate With You Steam Engine Smokin From Shootin End of Run Thru Touch Me Pt. 2 End of Lay Low
Wordless Chorus Touch Me Pt. 1 Highly Suspicious Off The Record One Big Holiday
Oh, by the way, I'll be hitting up all 5 nites in October. ;D

I know I'm going to get shot for this, but do you guys really think they are what Bonnaroo wants in a headliner? I mean, I love them too, but they wouldn't sell as many tickets as, say, Kings of Leon. It sucks, but it's true and I predict a LN Which slot if they play.
