No but really, here's the thing: Wayne isn't a bad MC. He isn't -- but he's just not the kind of act you'd want at Roo. His lyrics are clever and, frankly, there are plenty of rappers that would be a LOT worse.
That said he's going to cost an absurd amount of money and for what he is, he's not worth spending that money.

I agree 100% and as far as Slim is concerned he is my favorite mc but not what I would want to see at roo
I would take some jurrasic 5,Snoop, any of the wu, Talib, Lupe,Outkast in any form (Big Boi personally)
As for ICP quack that , that is as low as gwar imo

With recent releases from Mos Def, Reflection Eternal, Brother Ali, Atmosphere, Cypress Hill, Gorillaz with a lil De La Soul in it, The ROOTS! and Common not visiting the farm yet... WHY would lil wayne and Em even be in the top 20 hip hoppers for the 10th anniversary of Roo. No sense whats-so-ever
oh and i'll admit if Kanye found a pair and showed up on stage with JayZ to redeem himself, I might pitch him a compliment instead of a glowstick to the face

lol at people saying theyd rather see slim than wayne.
eminem fell off hard, hasnt put out a good track in some time. "im not afraid" is okay, i guess. nothing compared to what he was doing before.
wayne on the other hand kills every track hes on and doesnt even bother to write it down. find "no ceilings" if you dont think he has talent, specifically run this town or thats all i have. i too used to hate wayne for being "whats wrong with mainstream hip hop" until i actually listened to what he had to say. as much as i love common, mos def etc rap doesnt have to be socially conscious to be good.
ps half of run DMC is dead, and icp doesnt belong in this discussion joking or not

Thank you so much for bringing up no ceilings. that is by far wanyes best mixtape. seriously, to anyone that doesnt like lil wayne. download the no ceilings mixtape, youll thank me once your done listing to it
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
The lesson in this thread, is that pmo has bad opinions.
No i just like to post things on this board that get all you computer geeks riled up.
There is no such thing as a bad opinion. Opinions can't be proven true or false, so I think the lesson we learned is that NoD loves the smell of his own farts. Give credit where credit is due. Two of the best lyricists of our time are perfect for roo. Especially since it is clearly obvious that Roo is always expanding the variety of music that they have every year. I wouldn't be surprised to see one of them appear on the 2011 bill. And if they do, don't worry, there will be plenty of other things for you to do.
Oh, and why do so many people care if their are acts playing at roo that they don't like. Since you could only realistically see about 1/3 of the lineup, who cares if the other 2/3 is filled with stuff you don't like. Just makes your decisions easier.

You have got to be shitting me. Worst bullshit beats and auto-tune. I LOVE hip hop (note-hip hop) and I do enjoy some lil wayne, used to be a huge fan. That being said, he has not had anything worth listening to since dedication2 with Dj Drama. All the auto-tune young money bullshit is so annoying. Same with em, he completely gave up and just relies on that generic flow on generic beats with weeaaak ass lyrics.
WE HAVE NAS!! One of the greatest ever, and he's performing with Damian Marley!!! What more could you ask for?
People who have said things like The Roots, Atmosphere, Brother Ali, J5, Wu, Talib, Mos Def- THANK YOU. That being said, how can some of you write that then think Em and Wayne would be cool too? They are the epitomy of sell-outs, their lyrics have nothing to say, except what you have already heard by 10000 other rappers just put differently. QUACK THAT LENO.
See i feel him on that knuck if you buck freestyle, but when's the last time you heard wayne actually rap? 2005?? Anyone who claims blood and that their a raw rapper and then makes a fuckin song about prom queens is just a joke. Wayne is really intelligent, and his work ethic is beast, but he gets lazy and would rather make money than music with meaning.

I doubt I will be there, but I would most likely go with glowstick to the face.

Because before the schedule comes out you don't know if you can really even see the 1/3 of the lineup you really like, it could all conflict. If Em and Wayne were to both be on the bill for some god-awful reason, they be on the top line because of their cost, and would get big spots late at night.
My problem isn't with hip hop in general, I loved Beastie Boys last year and am looking forward to seeing Jay-Z this year, it's that Em and Wayne aren't that great. Em has become a parody of himself, and who knows if Wayne would show up and do a great show, or just show up and have his cup overflowing with purple drank barely able to croak out his witty lines. There are much better hip hop acts that Bonnaroo can get for cheaper, rather than spending a big portion of their budget on two of the biggest selling artists in the world right now.
I'd say go for it, i'll see another show during their time; however, i see these two being way over paid for a festival appearance let alone a concert, thus spending the money on this would be an absolute waste compared to bringing Neil, Macca, or another band/artist who is worth the money paid to them for their appearance.

Well I can't argue with that. Clearly I'd rather see Paul @ roo then either of these two, but I'm not really opposed to anyone playing there. And If they are going to keep evolving their hip-hop scene, as they seem to be doing, not only with hip-hop, but every genre of music, it's only a matter of time till an act like this appears.
Next year is their 10 year anniversary, so they are going to be spending money out the ass for their lineup anyways. At least I would hope so. Em would be expensive, but I don't think Wayne would be.

How can half a trio die?
A def no to either of these guys on the farm. I was watching the 2002 dvd the other day and Jurassic 5 was on there. Man, I'd love to see them return.
eh, wasnt including the DJ obviously but Run = one guy DMC = the other, so im not wrong if you want to get technical.
if you asked me how many people are in the beastie boys i would say three just because i think of adrock, MCA and Mike D as "the beastie boys" not to discredit mix master mike, its just the way i think.
